Gorgeous afternoon tea

This is a really friendly place with a relaxed vibe. We had the afternoon tea which consisted of cauli wings, sandwiches, scones and cakes - all delicious.

I’m looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu

Amazing Tapas

We shared a few tapas dishes including cauliflower wings, plant balls, miso, maple mushrooms, roasted butternut squash and chips, all so delicious! Staff were lovely too and the place is decorated really nicely.

Vegan cosy eatery

Small place in a very nice location just in front the cathedral. It is cost and simple. Great choice of food.

Disappointing

Real shame. Stopped off for a cocktail and a small bite to eat. Had a margarita that was too salty to drink and a tapas platter that was lukewarm, greasy and soggy. Wouldn’t normally leave a bad review but don’t think this is owned by independent any more and is the chain pub next door (meat heavy stag do pub kind of place).

Pros: Nice decor

Cons: Food

Coffee and cake

Nice place just by the cathedral. We just popped in for coffee and cake, which at £6.95 is a good price.
Hazelnut slice was particularly good!

Sticky toffee pudding wasn’t as good and a tip added without asking us felt a bit cheeky, so giving 4/5

Pros: Coffee cake offer, Nice view

Cons: Menu looks pricey

OK, but not great

Went for an evening meal and chose the small plates. Whilst the food was good, it was all very dry. I made mention of this at the end but I'm not sure my comments were taken on board as constructive criticism. Prices were 50% off because of veganuary. I think I would have felt a bit ripped off if they were normally priced. I feel like the dishes need some tweaking.

Pros: Ambience , Wine was nice

Cons: Slightly defensive server, Small portions , Too dry!

Have a lovely evening meal here. The tapas options were great and full of flavour. The mulled wine poach pear for dessert, was really tasty. Will be back to eat here again!

Fantastic food!

All was amazing, we had the NYE's dinner and it was great. The food was unreal, still dreaming the smoked celeriac steak and the fried cheese. The price was fair amd service good. Must go

Allot of choice!!!

Such a lovely place to go for evening tapas.

We shared 5 plates between two and left very very full (and we usually have quite large appetites!) A delishious and interesting range of dishes available, we really enjoyed 4/5 of them.

Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere is lovely.

Healthy vegan food

I’m usually not a fan of vegetable noodles or similar foods that are versions of “unhealthier” food, but this place knew how to balance taste and health. I wasn’t convinced by many plates on the menu but the ones we ordered were great

Great starters, average Sunday roast

The miso mushrooms and cabbage starters were both excellent and really full of flavour. Unfortunately the Sunday roast was a little bland. It seemed more like a ‘vegan option’ roast you’d order in a standard pub. It was ok, but there wasn’t really anything exciting about it.

Extremely disappointing☹️

Me and Dad were so excited to try out this place but from start to finish it let us down! First off we were waiting for 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and from there it continued to go down hill. Our server was a kind girl but obviously extremely stressed and anxious. The food was some of the worst I have ever tried at a restaurant, I have had 5 times better at spoons. We both ordered the aubergine burger and it was practically raw aubergine with no flavour and drenched in oil. The chips were also soaked in oil and it was an extremely small portion. I hate to leave a negative review on a vegan business but I will not be returning here☹️

Pros: Atmosphere

Cons: Food was bad, Extremely slow, Service was not great

Cons: Way too much pepper, Limited choice

Great Sunday Lunch

We visited Mcr recently and had been looking forward to trying out The Allotment. We opted for the Sunday roasts and it didn’t disappoint. Great sized portions and good value with the 2 courses deal. Service was excellent and really helped with food allergies, making recommendations via the chef of amendments they could make.

Pros: Fabulous choices on the menu, Relaxed and welcoming atmosphere , Lovely chef willing to make changes to dishes

Cons: Front of house staff hadn’t tried the food

Hit and miss

The first time I ate here the food here was amazing - everything I tried was delicious although I think the broccoli salad would've been nice warm with a cold dressing. The whole thing was cold which I wasn't expecting however it was still delicious. Miso mushrooms and curry were very tasty, I definitely would've recommend this place for a nice meal out.

Unfortunately the second time I ate here the food was pretty disappointing. The tacos were very sweet and although the celeriac steak was nice, it was pretty basic.

Awesome Tasty Food!

All Vegan Restaurant, with amazing food & puddings.
I came here with my Partner & his Mum when we came down to visit family. I had the Jackfruit Tacos which were nice & spicey, came with pineapple & guacamole! I had the Sticky Toffee Pudding which did come with vegan ice cream.

Pros: In Manchester City Center. , All Vegan Food with lots of options. , Friendly Staff.

Cons: Slighy Pricey but worth the price!

Really good food

We opted for the tapas to share a few different dishes. These tapas were full plates though and very generous portion sizes.
We tried the Cauliflower wings, chargrilled cabbage, miso maple mushroom, tex Mex jackfruit bao buns and the bhindi curry.
The cabbage was the surprise hit of these. However the cauliflower wings are a must.
We finished it off with a trio of cake which consisted of red velvet cupcake, brownie and a vegan scone with jam and cream. The cupcake was really good as was the scone.
All in all this was a great meal and would definitely recommend.

Amazing small plates

Went with 2 vegan friends and tried most of the small plate options between us on the 5 for £30 deal. (We got 10 between us)

It was all amazing and so flavoursome! We had some room for dessert and they were also really good!

Pros: Variety , Atmosphere , Cocktails

Anniversary Afternoon Tea

We visited The Allotment to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and were excited to try their vegan afternoon tea. Sadly, it didn’t meet my expectations, especially after seeing some nice photos online.

The sandwiches were bigger than I expected and had hummus and avocado, which aren’t my favorites. The cauliflower wings didn’t really suit my taste either. On the bright side, the cakes and scones were delicious and definitely the best part.

Even though the food wasn’t exactly what I hoped for, we had a lovely time. The weather was nice, so we sat outside, and the staff were really friendly, which made the experience better.

Overall, it was a pleasant visit, but the options weren’t quite to my taste.

Pros: Lovely Outdoor Seating, Friendly Staff

Mixed Experience

The venue was really nice and inviting, but the service left something to be desired.

Food: The small plates were indeed quite small, and you’d need at least four to feel satisfied. The tofu Laksa was a highlight, even though they had run out of rice. They kindly substituted it with flatbread, which was a nice touch. The dessert was lovely and a great way to end the meal.

Service: Despite the restaurant not being busy (only three tables of two), the staff were not very attentive. It took a while to get their attention for dessert and the bill, especially once a party of ten arrived.

Overall: While the food was enjoyable and the atmosphere pleasant, the service and portion sizes were disappointing for the price. I’m glad I tried it, but I wouldn’t rush back.

Pros: Tasty food, Lovely venue

Cons: Small portions for the price

Afternoon Tea

I came for a birthday afternoon tea with my Mum. The Cauliflower wings were a great addition to afternoon tea and the cakes and scones were delish 😍 the sandwiches however were all quite samey as they all had the same salad filling with only one slight difference between each sandwich, some more variation would have been nice. However for £16pp we can't complain!

Pros: Very reasonable , Lovely cakes and scones
