Did not disappoint - Edit
Like others have said the menu is confusing, but decided not to bother with it and do the multi-course set vegan menu. Food was delicious and memorable! Love how they focus on one ingredient per dish and really let it shine! Service may have been a bit stiff.

Maybe it deserves a 2nd chance - Edit
As specified, it's a rather fancy place, but not over the top. The menu is to a large part unintelligible, so your best bet is instead of trying to read it to simply grab hold of the personnel and let them explain it to you - saves time.
Read moreThe food was a mixed experience. The appetizers we had were good - nice fresh bread with a flavourful butter and some cracker-style item with an interesting topping. The main dishes were underwhelming, especially one dish made of mushrooms that was outright inedible (at least to me), so I was not able to finish it. The ice cream was good ice cream...
All in all I'd rather try the other veg* fine dining options in the area before giving the Acorn a 2nd chance.
Pros: Interesting, creative dishes
Cons: Interesting, creative dishes

Delicious food! - Edit
Been here twice for anniversaries, once with a multi-course tasting menu. Only had 2 less-than-perfect dishes in the 10 dishes we’ve had from them! Amazing use of flavours and local food. Definitely recommend a tasting menu and/or to check them out during Dine-Out Vancouver.

Love the vibe and the food - Edit
We had the chef's menu. Every dish was delicious - the brassica, legume, tomato, corn creme brûlée and the day's special - which was like an eggplant tartar with lentil crackers . Each dish was special - a great spot for amazing. Also saw other diners had comfort food - fried oyster mushrooms on waffles - have to try that! LOL.

Delicious - Edit
I've gotten into the habit of doing at least one fancy meal when I travel solo, so I booked a chef's tasting reservation for Acorn and y'all it was SO GOOD. My biggest mistake was booking 8pm Pacific dinner when I was awake at 4:30am eastern, so I was close to delirious at dinner and the atmosphere made me want to nap, but the food was so good. The mushroom dishes (particularly the shiitake with xo sauce) were SO GOOD. I loved being pleasantly surprised and trying things I wouldn't make on my own. Elevated cuisine, nice atmosphere, good service, and the drink I had (the Concorde) was delicious.

Chef’s Tasting 10/10 - Edit
If you want an incredible voodie dining experience, then reserve yourself a Chef’s Tasting dinner at The Acorn! Every dish was so unique and playful and tasty - you can tell the chef really enjoyed playing with all the seasonal ingredients.
Read moreI love how they list on a sign in front what came from their last forage and trip to the market. Doesn’t get fresher than that!
The ambiance is lovely, upscale yet unassuming, casual yet thought out. I celebrated my birthday here and was NOT disappointed!
Pros: Creative menu, Local and seasonal ingredients, Ambiance

Excellent Mushrooms! GF Vegan Approved. - Edit
Wonderful dishes and experience. We got the $75 per person chef choice menu and were able to specify both vegan and GF. We received 7 small dishes to share, all of which were so unique and refined.
Read moreAnother great thing is that they try to use all of the plant. For example, we were served 2 dishes at once - one dish had crushed radishes and the second dish had cooked down radish tops. Really wonderful experience and high quality cooking and recipes.
Pros: Completely GF Vegan menu , Unique flavor combinations

Best place for a splurge - Edit
If you are looking for a fancy night out, this is the best in the city, no question.
Read moreThere is a tasting menu now if you book ahead (and you have to book pretty far ahead). It's not cheap, but I think it is well worth it for a special occasion. They can easily make it vegan (they'll send you an email and just indicate you want it vegan).
We've done the tasting menu a couple of times, and there was no bad dish, there's hasn't even been a good dish, they have all been excellent.
Pros: incredible food, excellent service, everything can be made vegan
Cons: expensive (but worth it - value is on point), have to book far ahead

We did the chef's menu and it was incredible. The mushroom cereal dessert was so delicious and usually dessert is my least favourite part of a meal!

Incredible food - Edit
I’d call this a fine dining restaurant, with the menu (which is a little confusing in terms of what you’re actually ordering) and the prices, but the food is so worth it. This is what I’d call a perfect first date place for a romantic dinner with a focus on the food. The outside seating is beautiful and the service was outstanding as well

Not entirely vegan but an easy place to eat for a nicer sit down vegan meal. The locations doesn’t feel as fancy as the food but the service and meal is worth it.

The last time I went I had the set menu. It was really cool being able to try some very different dishes, all very delicious. A bit pricey but I’d say worth it for a cozy date!

I love the acorn! Recommend anything on the menu, however, the service isn’t so great. They are quite slow - even when they aren’t slammed, staff are somewhat nice most of the time, it’s a small spot and cozy. I definitely recommend coming here if you’re going on a date, or introducing a friend to vegan food :)

Good, but not the best - Edit
So this place ranked as the best vege restaurant.. it was good, but wouldn’t say it was the best meal of my life. Food looked great, some dishes tasted better than others. Good drink. Overall fine but only if you are vegetarian. If you are vegan then well, you might be disappointed

Very cute little place, was very excited to try due to all the hype. Was underwhelmed by the food. Visited this restaurant serveral times. Had to send a dish back because it was too salty. Desserts were the best part.

Good food, lovely presentation - Edit
We had the chef's tasting menu so we all got to sample three appetizers, three main dishes and three desserts. Food was creative and included different tastes that I would not have thought to put together. Some of it worked well, some not so well. Service was excellent. Desserts were just OK.

Fine dining, worth the price - Edit
I have been here once, for an early dinner. I was really glad we managed to get a table, because the dining room seemed to fill up very quickly after I was seated. The restaurant is dimly lit and the seating feels very intimate, kind of cosy-chic.
Read moreMy dining partner and I ordered three courses: one appetizer, two mocktails, two mains, and two desserts (grand total: about $95). Almost all of the menu options could be served vegan. The food was delicious; I loved the complex interplay of flavours. The menu describes dishes as collections of ingredients, and I appreciated how every dish was so deliberately constructed. Everything was beautifully plated, and the service was attentive, but not intrusive. While The Acorn is more expensive than other veg restaurants in Vancouver, I think it fills a unique niche and the dining experience here is worth the money.
Pros: The food was really good, The service was excellent, They have sparkling water on tap
Cons: It's on the expensive side
