Everyone will love the food! - Edit
If you’re in Honolulu, you must visit! Recently went with family and I was the only vegan, but everyone loved the food! The rolls are innovative, tasty, and such a nice change to be able to order anything at a Japanese restaurant. Our favourites rolls were the sunset, ewa, wedge and the gyoza and mushroom tempura are a must!

Love it!! - Edit
We loved the atmosphere. We loved the food. We also loved the service. This place is awesome! Great for a date night or dinner with friends. They have traditional sushi rolls with a vegan twist and they also have speciality rolls. Everything was delicious 😋 we loved it here!!

Expensive sushi and worth it! - Edit
Book a reservation online in advance. We loved the vegan sushi at Tane! We tried 3 of the specialty rolls, along with 2 of the nigiri. The special rolls were amazing, as was the inari nigiri.
Read moreService and atmosphere were very nice, and the staff kept our table clear as they brought out more dishes. We also had the dessert crème brûlée with pistachio ice cream, which was pretty good, though not quite worth the cost.
Definitely go for the specialty rolls!

Watch your credit card - Edit
Food is excellent! Pay with cash or watch your bill carefully. They charged my card for my bill, charged me for other customer’s meals other than my own, then gave me someone else’s card. The service is mediocre for the level of cuisine and atmosphere.

Tried to eat it all - Edit
I brought my family of 11 here visiting from Austin and SLC. We tried to order the whole menu, we tried. Service was great, rolls came out fast then kept coming and coming. Then the Nigiri, the Ramen, Brussels, pot stickers, on and on. Nothing we didn’t love. All that and we only spent $580 including auto grat of 18%. Make reservations though. They open at 4:30pm. This is a “nice” place, you can dress up for a date and feel fine or wear your Hawaii shirt with flip flops and be ok too.

Great ramen - Edit
My husband and I loved the take-out spicy garlic miso ramen & gyoza we got! We went back for a dine-in date night. The sushi was pretty good (my favorite rolls were the spicy tofuna roll & the wedge; half moon, Point Reyes, & Ewa were pretty good). I was disappointed in the chocolate cake with pistachio ice cream dessert (cake was dry & it carried a $20 price tag). My husband got a Mai Tai which was borderline undrinkable - way too sweet.

I love tane so much! It’s my second favorite vegan sushi restaurant & the only con is the price😡my favorite spot in chicago is half the price which makes it feel sometimes not worth spending so much but overall it’s really good and i’m happy to have a vegan sushi spot in hawaii

GO HERE!!! - Edit
Food was REALLY good. Felt really special having a more “up scale” dining experience but fully vegan. Definitely come after you’ve showered if you’re vacationing and outdoors all day😉Our server was so nice; we couldn’t decide which nigiri we wanted so we had the chef pick. Can’t go wrong with anything. Eggplant nigiri was a favorite.

The Best - Edit
I am a seasoned traveler, and have dined in fine establishments across the globe. This night, I had THE BEST DINING EXPERIENCE of my life. Without being intrusive, our server and staff made sure everything was perfect. No sooner did I set my water glass down than was it filled. No sooner did I finish one of my rolls, was the empty plate removed from the table. The bill arrived at the perfect time, and we left un-rushed from one of the best vegan meals I have ever had. Edema-me just right spice, brussel sprouts with just a touch of wasabi, so good. Six rolls to our table nearly simultaneously, each as delicious as the last. I loved the experience, and even more the food. Do yourself a favor and eat here. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for, and it is definitely worth it.

We were lucky to be able to find a spot in this busy vegan restaurant. We happened to walk in and someone had just called to cancel a reservation.

Run, don't walk - Edit
To get the best vegan sushi ever. I've had beyond sushi in nyc and feel spoiled to have wellness sushi at home in Denver, but this floored me and might've been the best veg sushi I ever had. We had three rolls: the wedge, point reyes, and the Pacifica. Skip the apps so you have more room for rolls :)

Best and fastest sushi ever. - Edit
I followed all of the advise people gave on happy cow. So we'll dressed, just ordering special stuff no dessert etc
Read moreOur bill wasn't that expensive for the amount that we ate. I still had to drive so I only had one beer. Great flavour great presentation.
On a less positive note if you don't drink alcohol, you have 2 options
Of drinks on a menu filled with alcoholic beverages. The least positive we've found was being rushed. The waiter was standing next to us to take the plate away, while I was trying to grab the last sushi with my chopsticks several times. Maybe due to Covid regulations and/or popularity but that didn't give me the feeling of a relaxed night out in a restaurant But like everyone else said; best sushi ever. #Veganuary

Amazing food - Edit
Unusual to find a vegan Japanese restaurant. This is one of the best restaurants we have been to and we travel a lot. Outstanding food. Nice atmosphere. We went with non vegans who loved it. Highly recommend. We almost didn’t go and would have missed one of the highlights of our trip.

Nothing Fishy About It!! - Edit
As vegans we became all too familiar with avo and cucumber rolls at sushi joints, but at Tane… you can pick from the entire menu because it’s all vegan!! Great Japanese lagers and pilsners. Yummy, yet authentic Japanese starters (e.g. goma, edamame, etc.), classic rolls and a long list of creative rolls with fun California and Hawaii beach names. We recommend The Wedge, The Leahi, & The Kailua. #Veganuary

No stars really - took reservations but wasn’t open - Edit
We made a reservation for Christmas eve on 19th and had an email confirmation of the reservation. We went there and the doors were shut. No emails or calls to us, just a note on the door telling they’ve been closed from 23th! Nothing on their website or social media either. So 2 Uber rides for nothing and no food for us tonight. They had all the opportunities to tell us what’s going on. Not good at all especially for a vegan business. Really shame.

Expensive, no walk-in dine-in - Edit
This place is so good that I have to put all the cons right in the title.
Read more“If you can see a doctor, you can dine at Tane Vegan Izakaya”, even if you can’t dine-in, take out is always an option, and that’s what I did.
Ordered Shio Ramen, California rolls and Sunset rolls. They were fantastic! I was initially a little sceptical about the ramen, but their soup completely changed my perspective and has now set a standard for ramen noodles, my omnivore girlfriend commented that the mock meat tasted identical to the real thing 五花肉, and the soup base was strong in umami.
Their sushi rice was of high quality and well cooked, this was the preface base for sushi rolls. I enjoyed both sushi rolls without dipping them into soy sauce.
I would love to dine-in at this location, but eating in a rental car and spilling some ramen soup on my hiking short definitely did not spoil the taste. On the other hand, it gave me an excuse to get another pair of pants.
Pros: Super duper sushi, Great ramen
Cons: Expensive, Requires reservation for dine-in, Killing next-door mini garden restaurant’s biz

Exceptional food - Edit
Sushi both veganized and new creations that are absolutely delicious. Second time coming here and once again I over ordered (leftovers for lunch tomorrow, hooray!), and smiled throughout my dinner. Even something as “simple” as grilled mushrooms comes across as the best thing you’ve ever tasted!
Read moreIf you’re vegan and in Honolulu, you really need to make a point of dining here.
Pros: Innovative, Creative, Great combinations of flavors and textures
Cons: Tempura is okay but not as great as other dishes, Dessert can be super sweet
