Lovely staff but bland food - Edit
The women working were so lovely, not sure if this was a bad night as this place has mostly good reviews on happy cow but our food was very bland. My partner got the corn and nachos (not vegan) and I got the tempeh tacos

Amazing - Edit
Every Thursday is vegan Thursday in Taco beach grill. The food is awesome! The burrito was pretty big and cost only 55k. That rice was outstanding. I can highly recommend birria combo it has nacho plate, two tacos and ice tea. We also liked tacos with banana blossom, enchiladas and virgin margarita. Absolutely loved this place. It was hidden vegan option gem for our trip

Beer and tacos! - Edit
Firstly, reading some of the other reviews, I'm not sure if the menu has changed, but while there are vegan options on the menu, there isn't a huge amount. A note: only the vegetarian options can be made vegan, not the animal meat options.
Read moreHowever the staff were lovely, and the complimentary corn chips and salsa was a nice start.
The vegan pumpkin soup was not available, so we had the triple cooked fries that were with skins on and lovely and crisp.
There are some interesting vegan options available. I tried the vegan chorizio on a hard tacos, and the asparagus and vegan feta on soft tacos, which came with a choice of a side, I opted for the refried beans.
The chorizio was my favourite of the night. It was messy, but so so tasty. Loved it. The asparagus and feta was a little too salty for my tastes, I'm guessing that was the feta. However the refried beans were delish, as was the grated vegan cheese on top of it.
Unfortunately the place itself is looking a little tired, so go imagining you're in some well worn eatery in the backstreet of Mexico and you'll not be dissapointed.
I'm glad we went and tried it. Not sure I'll go back before we leave though.
Pros: The Chorizio. , Friendly staff.
Cons: Tired environment.

Great place to eat - Edit
Great vegan options and the staff are happy to assist. Most things can be made vegan. Had the crispy avocado Fries, and the vegan chorizo tacos. The flavours were good and the ingredients were lovely and fresh. My omni friend had chicken tacos and loved it. The place has a cool vibe. Give it a try!!

Amazing Vegan Selection - Edit
We came on Taco Tuesday and enjoyed Guacamole and Chips, Asparagus & Feta Tacos, Vegetarian Beef Birria Tacos (all of which are vegan) the vegetarian tofu chorizo Burrito made vegan and finished off with the vegan cheese cake. Great prices and the best Mexican I’ve had in a loooong time.

Deserve 5 stars out of 5! - Edit
I love they created dozens of original items for vegans.. The owner told me had heart operation and strokes, so he spent 3 years building a massive selection of healthy Vegan Mexican options...they culture their own vegan cheese, and make amazing plant based meats! We ate there almost every day.
Read moreTry the vegan ham and vegan carne asada...omg. Baby asparagus with vegan feta tacos are amazeballs. Vegan sour cream, vegan cheese, vegan steaks...and they make anything gluten free, even burritos!
And I can take my omnivore friends and family there and everyone is amazed.

5 stars but not only vegan so can’t leave 5 stars - Edit
100% must eat here! Best Mexican food I have ever had. VEGAN OPTIONS GALORE! I got the “Can’t believe it’s not chicken burrito” even has vegan sour cream. Salas’s is very authentic and delicious. Also, had a fresh asparagus salad perfect combo of tang, creamy avocado, crunch from pumpkin seeds amazing. Honestly everything was top notch. Owner, Bob, is as nice as they come and you can tell he is passionate about making delicious vegan food, balanced, with good mouth feel too. Loved seeing his passion for beautiful delicious food. He has amazing vegan cheeses! I tried feta very good flavor and mozzarella great Louth feel and chew/stretch. His vegan meats (to die for but no animals had to die for.) he has vegan chicken, steak, and mahi-mahi but I can only vouch for the chicken which was perfection.

I don’t find it to be a draw back that they also serve meat. My husband is not vegan so I actually find that to be a major plus. We can both eat and are thrilled about the food.
** this would be 5 stars if happy cow allowed 5 stars for non-fully vegan restaurants.
Pros: So many vegan options!!, Really fun vibe , Owner is passionate about vegan food!

We had the avocado fries and the vegan tempeh tacos. The fries weren't actually fries but two pieces of deep-fried avocado and there unfortunately were no vegan burrito options. None was special but not bad either and they use some single-use plastic which I don't want to support these days.

Very hard to explain the concept of vegan food - Edit
Me, my husband and our son had dinner here once during our summer vacation. I asked about which courses were vegan and chose one that the waiter said could easily be made vegan. Unfortunately it arrived covered in sour cream and I had to send it back. I got a new one and cut into it just to realise that it was filled with melted cheese. At this point my family had finished their meal and it was not fun to wait for another 20 minutes. The cook may have gotten angry because dish number 3 was filled with vegetable oil that spilled out and completely covered the plate when I cut into the chimichanga.

Thank your for kind comments! Roughly about a third of our menu is deliberately vegetarian now, with vegan options. We even offer a gluten-free, dairy-free Totally Vegan Blueberry Cheesecake which many say is the best cheesecake they ever had. So if you are still in town, give us another try. We are launching our new Lebanese Taco made with hummus and tahini on top of veggies in a lemon vinaigrette, and have recently launched our Roast Pumpkin Couscous Taco, and a Baby Asparagus Salad taco (with feta) - all of which I am over the moon about having designed them. Looking forward to your return. -Bob.

great for vegan mexican food lovers. - Edit
only one meal, and it was a tempe tofu compote on a soft taco, option for crisp taco. It was tasty and very fresh with the spices of mexico. the two sauces were very tasty. I am critical of real tex mex food, but as tempe and tofu are not in mexican, i can say they got pretty close to authentic flavour. The decor was wonderfull and mexican music.... Lots of vegan options.
