Feel the Love - Edit
Came here for breakfast on the way back from a trip and wasn't expecting such a great experience. The cafe was quiet and had a great atmosphere with all the mouthwatering treats on display. I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast burrito and the big momma cinnamon roll! A cool and unique find from what I'm used to and will definitely come back if I'm in the St. Louis area to grab a lunch and a cupcake!

Got my biscuit on - Edit
Sunday brunch menu. Biscuit sandwich, with a side of biscuits and gravy….yes, please. I’m a sucker for biscuits.
Read moreThese were pretty great, I liked that the sandwich used fried tofu instead of an egg replacement and the sausage was flavored well. Biscuits and gravy was good, not great, maybe a little too sweet for me? But I did, basically, lick the plate clean
Got some hybrid pastry thing to go for my hotel/road tomorrow and a peanut butter cookie I haven’t tried yet.
Man, the cinnamon rolls were tempting. Looked huge and delicious. Tons of frosting etc. they were flying off the shelf. And def vegans and non-vegans alike from my line convos.
Nice space, good vibe too. Rounded up from
4.5.

Incredible and kid approved - Edit
Everything we ate was simply amazing. Maya Angelou Plate was huge and tasty. Kids loved the chickn, fries and Mac n cheese. The massive cinnamon roll, caramel pound cake and cupcakes were some of the best I’ve ever had. It was all pretty affordable!

I liked the ambience of this place. I also liked there was vegan savory options as well as sweet in one day. Some things I noticed people ordered alcohol so if you were into brunch this place would be perfect #Veganuary

Epic Food! - Edit
This place has the BEST vegan Mac n cheese I’ve ever had in my life. I absolutely loathe vegan MNC normally, but after reading some reviews, my partner and I decided to split the Maya Angelou bowl. It came with MNC, friend chicken and a kale salad. The MNC was flawless. The kale salad was extremely tasty, and very interesting. I think it has some sort of miso dressing, and it’s unique. The fried chicken batter was gorgeous, but my one complaint was the soy chicken they use. It’s pretty bland and tastes a little weird, but the batter they use does make up for this. It was overall delicious. At almost $19 for the bowl, it was a little pricey, but when split between two people it worked out well. The aesthetic of the place is lovely and I was very happy to be able to support a loud and proud black-owned business. 10/10 will be back every time I’m in SL. Highly recommend!

Delicious fried “chicken” - Edit
My partner and I (who is not vegan) both had and loved the Maya Angelou bowl which is fried chicken (or cauli bites) with Mac n cheese and kale salad.
Read moreHuge portion, had to get some in takeaway container.
You seat yourself, order at counter, and help yourself to water and plastic forks (no knives). Is this an American thing plastic throwaway cutlery for eating in? Not nice to eat with, not to mention not environmentally friendly, and hard to eat with! You also need to take your dishes up to the rubbish/area where water is which I also find odd.
The delish food outweighs these odd things though

Worth It - Edit
Heard about this place on Netflix’s Fresh, Fried, and Crispy. It was one of my main reasons to visit STL and it does not disappoint. The Chikn is crispy and breaded to perfection. Don’t know how they do it but it really does taste just like chicken.
Read moreUpdate: returning 2 years later for dinner. The shiitake sandwich is incredible. The chips however are a bit salty and stale. Overall, still a great place though.

We came here twice! The cupcakes and pastries we tried were all great. Came back for lunch. I had the Maya Angelou plate. I loved the kale salad and Mac. The breading on the “chicken” tenders was delicious. Ky husband got the daily special burger and fries. I wish they had one or two kid items, because the entres are a little pricey. But it was all delicious.

Everything I ordered was so good! The cinnamon bun was incredible. The Boston cream cupcake was delicious but a bit crumbly. I wish I’d had a chance to try their savory dishes as well.
