As a fish & chips lover, I hit stereo to try their version of it. The portion was generous and the fries & mashed peas were good. The "fish" itself was okay... way too greasy for my taste. It might've been that I was just unlucky. I would go back, but perhaps try something different.

Read moreStereo was full when we arrived so we had to wait at the bar - an opportunity to get a cocktail. I highly recommend the chunky monkey if you like a milky cocktail. It was creamy but not thick and had a very subtle little kick. Similar to drinking baileys but milder.
The chip supper was the best vegan fish I’ve ever had. The subtle fish flavour in the batter evoked memories of my actual fish eating days.
Partner got the buffalo cauliflower and said it was excellent.
Portions were big and they had containers for me to take away what I couldn’t finish.
Would recommend, would return.

Popped in here for an early dinner as I had an off-peak return ticket back to Edinburgh and needed to wait for a later train. A relief to have a vegan menu and somewhere comfortable to sit. Stereo is situated on a rather scuzzy sidestreet, opposite The Old Hairdresser's (another music venue), but don't let that put you off. Staff were welcoming, unfazed by me bring alone and I was given a choice of tables. I found a good spot in the corner. Unfortunately, I chose the ramen from the main courses, which I was told was 'off'. I then chose the Stereo tempeh burger. This came in a white bun with pickles and vegan cheese, and a huge pile of chips. The burger had a good texture and flavour but seemed a bit greasy, and the chips were deep fried, so overall the meal was fattier than I would normally go for. I would have liked more vegetables in the burger bun. I had a zero alcohol Heineken, which went well with the burger. I didn't have a dessert as I was full; the meal was very filling so good value. I would definitely go back here if I was in the area and needed somewhere to chill and refuel.

There a good selection of beers and they also do cocktails.

Serves all vegan food, every dish that I tried tasted delicious. The Burger was a supersized one, Tempeh Reuben sandwiches were beyond expectations. Berries vanilla cheesecake (special dessert of the day) was delightful. Has a lot of alcohol drinks options, however, not many juice or healthy drink options. Could be quite full, so reservation is recommended.
