Needs to up its game

I’ve been going to Stereo for years and years. The last three times I’ve visited I’ve been disappointed: service is often slow/poor/not enough staff on. One time we were forgotten about completely.
Went in last night, noted some new items on the menu. We had the Seitan thing with onions, which was ok but I wouldn’t order again; the tempeh bourginon (which wasn’t as good as the version they were doing last year) and a side of roasted cabbage. Shared one portion of Sticky toffee pudding, which was priced at £10 and was stodgy and pretty tasteless. That’s London prices- but only worth paying if it’s worth eating.

I’d suggest they revisit what used to work well- their soup and sandwich options were always good and fairly priced. Please be better as I don’t want to stop coming here.

Food too salty, very disappointed

Stereo was the first fully vegan restaurant I went to 12 years ago and I've returned many times since when I've been in Glasgow. Never again sadly. The 3 of us ordered 3 different things and none of us enjoyed our choices. As several people have commented, my dish was unbearably salty. The restaurant was uncomfortably cold too.

Pros: Fully vegan, so that always a bonus

Cons: Food too salty

Delish

The tempeh bourginion was absolutely delish! Decent cocktail list too. My friends loved their food too. It was a bit chilly in the restaurant but otherwise a lovely experience.

WAAAY too salty!!!

Saltiest meal I’ve had in a long time. So much so I’m still feeling the effects the next day. I really wanted to like this place for being fully vegan. The vibes are fantastic! Food came out hot and beautifully plated. The initials flavors were great, but as we ate more it because apparent how salty everything was. Not just one dish, but all three: soup of the day (split pea), the mushroom sandwich and the Stereo burger. I’m hoping our dishes on that day were an aberration, but seeing a few other reviews mentioning salty dishes, I’m afraid it might just be how they conceive of flavor and cook, which is truly a disappointment. Vegan food does/should not need to be overly salty to taste good!!! If anyone from Stereo reads this, please check in with your chef and check your recipes!

Cons: WAAAAY too salty!!!

Plats à qualité variable

Les noodles sont malheureusement trop salées, avec un arrière-goût âcre, nous n’avons pas pu les finir… Dommage, car le lieu est très sympathique et inclusif !

Very salty noodles

Myself and a friend had the Dan Dan noodles (me) and the Stereo Burger (him). Burger was tasty. However the chips and the noodle dish were super salty and I couldn’t finish my meal (which is quite unusual for me!)

Pros: Friendly staff, Nice range of options on menu, Good location

Cons: Not many healthier options, Dan Dan Noodles were overly-salty, Dark inside

delicious and great range

stopped here for lunch and enjoyed 3 small plates and the cheesecake for dessert. Both of us really enjoyed this (my partner gives 5/5, i give 4.5/5), great range and really delicious flavours. You can tell a lot of attention has gone into developing the dishes with a personal favourite being the dumplings with fried capers. We are also both still thinking about the soy labneh and would definitely recommend. My only criticism was the enoki mushrooms being a little salty and the cheesecake could have been softer, both dishes STILL delicious.

Pros: range, flavours, freshness

Cool spot

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and the cheesecake was tasty (I just wish it would have been a little softer) :)

Good vegan scottish dishes

The portions are good. I had the vegan haggis with mashed potato and it was filling. It felt like comfort food on a chilly day. They also have non-alcoholic beer.

Real cooking

Cool pub vibe with great whole food options. Everything on the menu looked delicious. The kind of stuff you would cook at home if you were a) a good cook, and b) could be bothered. Really great vareity

Delish haggis sandwich

Can’t say I’ve ever had a real haggis sandwich, but the vegan one at Stereo was delish! The side street off Buchanan Street looked quite deserted and I thought I might be in the wrong place, but there it was. Lots of space and good food choices too. Definitely worth it.

Pros: Sandwich was great, Lots of space , Fairly reasonably priced

Cons: None

Best vegan bar in town

The food was exceptionally delicious and truly something special that you don't get everywhere else. My Dan Dan noodles were excellent and the dessert, the Affogato, was also very tasty. The prices are completely reasonable.

The service was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great, just a wonderful place, not least because social responsibility plays a role here alongside the delicious food and the refreshing drinks. I love the vegan community for this mindset!

I definitely recommend this restaurant!

Pros: Super delicious food!, Atmospheric place, A restaurant with a mission

Cool spot with great food

I had my first visit at Stereo and was just as pleased as with my visits at Mono (their sister restaurant.) They have interesting and fresh food options, along with being in a funky space.

The lunch menu has lovely open-faced sandwiches, which paired with a soup is a perfect amount of food. I'm looking forward to coming by for their dinner menu next time, which is more expansive and had great options.

Incredible food!

Both dishes we got were absolutely unreal! Only thing that brought it down from 5 stars was that there was a long hair in my food which put me off. They did replace the dish but other than that no offer of discount. Food was great, service was also very good but could've been a bit better regarding the hair. Dog friendly which was also great for us

Pros: Delicious food

Cons: Hair in food

Delish

Generous portions in relaxed bar and restaurant, we went on a Saturday night where they had a spoken word event. They emailed me to ask if we would like to be seated near or far from the stage, which was appreciated. The staff at the venue were very friendly and helpful. Food was generously portioned and delicious. Only minor gripe would be that all the mains had some form of fake meat would be great to have a bean or tofu option. My husband had the haggis Bon bond and said it was the best haggis he’d ever had x

Pros: Lemon cannoli, Cauliflower wings, Friendly vibe

Cons: Could have a non-fake meat option on the mains

Vegan haggis!

Good place if you want to try vegan haggis. It was very busy at the time I was visiting (before a gig?) so try to book if possible. The staff is really friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed.

Wow! Delicious

We visited before a concert and wow, we loved it. This place has such a cool and inclusive vibe. The menu was off the charts! We opted for the stereo burger with chips and I had a glass of wine. It is wonderful to eat somewhere as a vegan knowing that everything is edible! Would definitely recommend and will revisit if in Glasgow.

Pros: So many options, Delicious, Friendly staff

Fun spot

If you are coming at prime time you need a reservation. The people in front of us at 6pm on Saturday did not have one and were turned away. The menu is varied and we went twice during our visit to Glasgow. I would recommend the Camembert round for sure! The burger was also surprisingly good. The Haggis with mash was also good although I think the seitan steak was better. I also really liked the potato dumplings.

Pros: Full bar with mocktails too, Fun atmosphere, Lots of variety

Cons: Can be loud

Rude staff and most options unavailable

I was really excited for this place based on the reviews but I arrived as a solo traveller and they were really reluctant to even seat me.
One of the mains was unavailable and two of the desserts were unavailable. This was at 7pm on a Thursday night.
I chose the carbonara and it was really disappointing, overly salted and I’m a massive fan of salt!
I felt really rushed to leave, it was obvious they wanted to fill my table with a two person party.
Only positives I can find are that the dessert (tiramisu) was a decent sized portion and the cocktail I had (sundae on the rocks) was absolutely delicious!
Definitely won’t be going back in a hurry!

Pros: Sundae on the rocks cocktail was delicious , Decent size portions

Cons: Terrible experience as a solo traveller , Lots of menu items unavailable , Food distinctly average overall

Great food and very queer! 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🇵🇸

Went here while visiting a friend. It’s a cool location and a great place for queer people! We had a couple of „small dishes“ and a couple of mains which we all shared with 5 people. For desert we had the Black Forest tiramisu. Sooo delicious! 🤤
