Great food, ok service. - Edit
The food makes the five star review, but the service took away from the experience a bit. The woman working there seemed genuinely annoyed when I asked her for a recommendation and it didn’t get better from there. Prices aren’t bad and again, the food is really good.

German food perfectly veganized! - Edit
I can really recommend this place. The variety of the menu is really good and also the quality and portion sizes are great. If you did not know it’s a vegan restaurant you would think that’s „normal“ typical german food.

If you’re looking to have yummy local dishes from Germany (esp. eastern Germany) as a vegan this is the place to go. Tasteful, somewhat stylish but chill restaurant with a very good kitchen and drinks. Try their desserts! Have never been disappointed here.

Veganer deutsches essen - Edit
Endlich mal leckeres, veganes, deutsches Essen!

A must when in Dresden! - Edit
Best vegan restaurant in town! Great service, good food, 100% vegan. Offers vegan versions of traditional foods like roasts or "schnitzel" as well as appetizers or snacks accompanying a drink...
Read moreI recommend making a reservation in advance, especially on the weekends as they can be quite heavily booked.
Take any sceptical omnivore here to convince them that vegan food is yummy...

Decent white people food - Edit
We ate here because we are vegan and wanted to support pure vegan restaurants.
Read moreDecently prepared and presented white people food (schnitzel, potatoes, salad). However if you are used to Indian, Vietnamese, Ethiopian etc. vegan food, you will find that the dishes lack depth and soul. Furthermore our waitress was neither helpful, nor friendly.
A week before we had eaten very good traditional European food in the Czech Republic (Bistro Les). The food was simple, yet original and made with passion and care. This was sadly not the case here.

Yummy and Reasonable Price - Edit
The food here really is quite good. I particularly liked the vegan schnitzel. The Ghoulash was also good. The food does take some time to be made. They also mixed up our dishes with another group of two people, but it's kind of funny; just check you got the right thing. The is not cheap, but also not expensive.

Die Speisekarte liest sich ein bisschen wie in einem gutbürgerlichen Restaurant - Hackbraten, Schnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln, Gulasch... aber alles ist vegan und superlecker.

Highlight of my trip - Edit
I have to say that Dresden really impressed me since I didn't expect such a beautiful and yet stylish city.
Read moreSteffenhagen was a great highlight of this city trip since they had everything I am looking for in a great restaurant: amazing food (modern German dishes), a very nice interior and also outside seating in a great neighbourhood and very friendly service.
We ordered ciabatta with 3 dips -which have been all great, the Hackbraten in beer sauce and the daily special- sparerips. Especially the sparerips have been great and made us wonder how the created the texture out of soy.
Thank you for such a good evening, I hope to step in again soon!

How do they make it? - Edit
Steffenhagen was a bit hidden; we had to follow the dark streets a while from where “everything” happens, but believe us – it was worth those extra meters, even if you, as us, hadn't eaten for eight hours. It is a traditional German kitchen a’ la vegan style in Szeneviertel. What is more German than a huge schnitzel? We had to try it – one ordinary with aioli and the other one with a mushroom sauce, a so-called Schnitzeljagd. The place itself was very cosy, had an alternative feeling and the staff was very friendly. As they prepare every dish on demand, we had to wait a bit for the food to come, which always make your expectations a bit higher.
Read moreThis is the kind of place where you want to come back and eat again just so you can unveil the secrets of how in the world they make their food taste so good. How do they make their “meat” so thready and the breading so crispy? How do they make the aioli so fluffy and their chocolate-fudge-cake so creamy? We asked about the aioli, but if you want to find out, you have to go there yourself, at least we would for the schnitzel.
Pros: The schnitzel!!!, Friendly staff, Very cozy
Cons: Had to wait a long time for the food

Delicious! - Edit
We were looking for a vegan place in Dresden and randomly chose this one off the app—and I’m glad we did! We got the Schnitzeljagd and Hackbraten and they were insanely delicious. They both came with potatoes and a small salad. The menu had lots of options, most of them being veganized versions of traditional German food. Our server spoke English and was very knowledgeable and helpful. The portion sizes were good and the prices were fair.

Delicious and rich in variety - Edit
Vegan restaurant with a nice interior in the middle of Dresden.
Read moreThe menu is rich in variety, so there is something for every taste. There is a menu of the day with changing soup, laufauf (casserole) and more.
We decided to have noodles with cabbage, seitan and a dip and a casserole with broccoli, potatoes, tomatoes and vegan cheese. Both were delicious and satisfying.
There were three different desserts on the menu, one with alcohol. We took the chocolate fudge with whipped cream, which was a good choice.
There were a lot of beverages on the menu, including organic beer and organic soda.
The prices are reasonable and the quality seems to be very good.
We enjoyed the food a lot and were happy that we took the time to go there.
Pros: delicious food, big variety, good quality
Cons: Difficult to find a parking space

Good food in a relaxed atmosphere - Edit
Steffenhagen is a vegan restaurant in Neustadt run by the same people as Der Dicke Schmidt. The restaurant itself is cozy and the staff is really friendly. They also have english menus.
Read moreThe menu is mostly composed of dishes containing some kind of soy mock meat (as the soy schnitzel) and a couple of dishes that change on a daily basis (as the laufauf or the soup of the day).
The dishes were big and tasty. The desserts deserve a special mention as they were particularly delicious. The only slightly negative point is that the pasta from the laufauf was slightly overcooked for my taste.
It is definitely one of the best vegan places in Dresden and more than worth visiting.
Pros: Cozy atmosphere, Tasty food, Big portions
