Disappointing Experience - Edit
I don’t usually do reviews because I know some businesses have good times and bad but this is about sanitation and cause for health concern.
Read moreI went here late one night as it was the only place open to eat in the city. Lights were low and atmosphere seemed exciting as most places aren’t open late. But unfortunately the server was rude and dismissive.
Almost as if my presence was disturbing her. She was very rude to my husband when he was asking for food recommendations. The heavy black girl was not attentive to our refills and was too busy talking to the other server and cooks.
She was coughing and i understood maybe she had to attend work but please wear a mask to not infect others.
The food was good and arrived quickly. But when it became time to pay my bill, the card machine was not functioning properly and I was instructed to pay cash. I asked the woman to try a different device because I knew I had the finances to pay my meal, but she insisted that I pay cash. Prior to arrival I called and spoke to a man who said they take card payments. Overall the food was decent but the service and payment were not. I would suggest next time doing take out and taking it back to our hotel.

You might like it better than I... - Edit
Despite my low rating, there are some nice things about this place. It is open very late/very early hours, very close to South Station, and it is a popular, friendly, homey diner that makes an attempt at serving vegan food.
Read moreOn the down side: I didn't notice anything specifically listed as vegan on their current menu, and when I checked their current online menu, I still don't see anything. True, they have things like Impossible burger and a garden burger that might be vegan--but is the bun vegan? I no longer see the vegan pancakes or french toast on their menu; when I visited the other day, they told me that they do have these items--but that it is not listed on the menu does not fill me with confidence (do they cook it in butter? is the bread vegan?) Also, the small, homey size of the diner has its definite problems, since the grill is slathered with meat, and cross-contamination seems inevitable.
I realize that not everybody is bothered by these things; however, these things made me far too queasy, so I went somewhere else. Perhaps if I were stuck at the station in the middle of the night I might risk going here if the dinner were not too busy and see if I could get them to clean the grill and carefully confirm the ingredients before ordering--but during the day, there are other places nearby that seem far safer.

I’d only go here as a last resort - Edit
It’s true - they have vegan options. Both vegan pancakes and French toast and they have vegan chicken tenders and a beyond burger. I got the beyond burger tonight and it was beyond over cooked and there was some sort of plastic in my burger (picture included) and the fries were cold. My boyfriend got the GF/vegan French toast but it tasted like frozen bland French toast. The maple syrup wasn’t great as well. I’d only go here as a last resort tbh.

French toast is good - Edit
We have to wait for the train station to open again. This place is a life savor! And they have vegan options. I got the French toast and house fries, it’s good!

Loved the staff, the pancakes were ~bad~ - Edit
I swung by for a very quick breakfast and wanted to try the pancakes. I try to be so nice about vegan food, given how hard it can be to get exactly what you’re in the mood for sometimes, but I can’t say anything other than these pancakes were AWFUL. Not necessarily their fault I think she mentioned they came in packs so they’re store-bought, but wow I don’t remember the last time I had to fight to eat something that bad. Feel free to try their vegan french toast!
