In a nice quiet neighborhood - Edit
It was a really nice walk slightly away from the busy central part of Amsterdam. The food is yummy and the staff are super friendly. You can also see their little kimchi library in the corner :)

Did a Paris-Brussels-Amsterdam trip and Soil was the food highlight. This place was amazing! We started with the rib’s which were top notch. I had the ramen and absolutely loved it. Just the right amount of kick and killer flavor. Husband had the dragon noodles which were excellent. Apple pie for dessert was the best I’ve ever had. We tried a different vegan restaurant for dinner that was decent, but went back here for more ribs to go because they were that good. Can’t recommend it enough.

I went to Soil expecting a pretty decent meal, and my exceptions were surpassed. The staff were friendly and generous, the ben ben noodles were on point, and the cheesecake was superb. Really, I've had a lot of vegan cheesecakes over the years, and I have to say that theirs is among the best, if not the best. The filling is firm, tangy, and creamy, with just the right amount of sweetness, and the crust is flakey and flavorful. Well done, all around!

I read so many good reviews about SOIL that I had to give it a go. I'm so glad I did! The portions are big and filling. We had pimientos del padrón and eggplant dip for starters, both great. The eggplant dip came with what tasted like burrito/fajitas seasoning, which was an original combination. Then, we had the seitan sandwich (can't remember the name!) and the Bali Beach salad, tropical and tasty. Both were delicious. The staff was super friendly and easy-going, yet professional. I loved the place, too!

Main dish, Ben Ben noodles, was less tasty than what I hoped for. I appreciate the communal seating but it makes that place very loud. With a few drinks that could be really fun but it was hard to talk across the table with my partner. Desserts were better than the main dish.

I came here with my wife after seeing the reception it got on HappyCow. She ordered the Kimchi Fried Rice, and I ordered the Ben Ben Noodles. I can confidently say that the noodles are probably one of their specialties, as it was the best vegan noodles I've had. The texture was creamy, had lots of veggies and even included some lemon zest. The fried rice was good too, and worth trying out if you are a fan of fried rice. For dessert, we had the vegan snickers which my wife loved. Would definitely come back here again, and they deserve my 5 star rating.

I enjoyed the crispy exterior of the Mushroom Bitterballen, but I did not like the filling. The Kimchi Fried Rice includes kimchi, edamame, black fungi, mungo sprouts, seasonal vegetables, crispy onions, nori, and scallions. The menu noted it was "mild," but it was not. It was so spicy that I couldn't even eat it. The Snickers is a fancy version of the candy bar.

Following the positive reviews we visited the Soil. We had the Eggplant Dip (10,5 €), Miso Salad (14,50 €) and Peanut Butter Curry (19,50 €). The food was ok, very small portions and pretty basic. For that price it wasn't worth it. The staff seemed pretty bored and not very happy to have us. Finally, the interior had a strong fast food like smell, which we took with us when we left.
