It’s a little on the pricy side but it’s good for a treat and I think it’s definitely worth the price as the food is absolutely delicious and really good portion sizes too.
The tiramisu was amazing!!

I hadn’t been to Smith and Daughters for three years, before they changed the menu to Italian, so I was a little worried when I read reviews about small portions and rude service. Well my partner and I just had the most amazing time! Our server was lovely and super attentive. We accidentally over ordered, but they were lovely and packed us a takeaway box with a thank you note and a love heart scribbled on the box. I had the most beautiful sparking red wine. We got the antipasti plate which was incredible, so delicious! The meatballs, we both took one bite and just fell in love and couldn’t talk to each other for a minute while we appreciated how good it was haha. We also had the risotto which was delicious. The garlic bread was a little plain and underdone, but it didn’t bother us because everything else was so amazing! We make crunchy garlic bread at home with a lot of extra garlic, so that’s our personal taste! We were sooo full and happy! Yes, it is a bit expensive, but expect that if you’re going to Smith and Daughter’s. It’s a really lovely night out and exceptional food. Highly recommend!

I used to love this place. The food was ridiculously good. I’d walk away with the biggest smile and my mouth was bursting with flavour...then they went Italian and it all changed. The portions were tiny and not worth the high end prices. The taste was good, but not amazing like before. The last time I went I left feeling disappointed and hungry. I won’t go back unless they revert or improve on their current offerings.

Love that this place is all vegan, buuuuut it was VERY salty. Food was all right, but tiny portions that are not worth the price tag. Maybe I had my expectations too high, but this place just didn't blow me away. It was very busy so if you do want to go here prepare to wait or call ahead. Seating is small and a bit awkward if your party is bigger then 1-2. Overall, meh. I wouldn't run back here.

Ok so the guy from smith & deli told me to come here for dinner and wow he was so right. So I went in on a Saturday night solo, fully booked but they said they had an hour spare and I could sit in then which was very greatful.

A must visit for anyone in Melbourne. I kept pinching myself to check it was really vegan! I had carbonara pasta and it was so cheesy and creamy. The egg yolk and bacon were incredibly similar to the real thing, as were the ricotta and parmesan on my friends' meals. And I could not believe how amazing the tiramisu was - that is one of the things I miss the most and it was exactly like it used to be! So creamy and rich and smooth. Most definitely 5 stars from me.

The highlights were the Shredded Caesar and the Apple & Sweet Miso Terrine dessert. The Farro & Lentil Insalada and Vodka Napoli & Meatballs were also excellent.
The atmosphere was casual with an alternative edge. I loved it so much I bought the t-shirt (literally).
Bookings essential. Will definitely go back.

My husband and I had a delicious dinner here. We shared a couple of pasta dishes and some garlic bread, and both ordered dessert. We were full after all of that, but each of the dishes were fairly small. I’d recommend ordering lots!!

Massively overrated and overpriced - Edit
The mains we ordered were enjoyable but should have been listed (and priced!) as starters. Both the savoury and sweet courses are elaborately described on the menu, with lots of exciting sounding ingredients (half of it not translated from Italian) but the execution isn't anything special - no layers of flavours (like at Transformer across the road which is infinitely better). The desserts especially were a let down - the tiramisu tasted of artificial cream; no hint of the liquer or coffee that was supposedly in it. The restaurant is also really loud and you don't get much elbow room. This was a second visit to see if it had improved from when it served Mexican - won't go again.
