Visited with a friend who didn’t realise the whole restaurant is vegan - said the gouda burger was the best he’d ever had! He didn’t believe me at first when I said it was a plant burger!

Food was gorgeous and I loved how the menu was filled with lots of fresh food and creative ways of serving vegetables rather than relying on mock meats! Everything we ordered was delicious, arrived quickly and the service was very good. Everything arrived quickly, including drinks, and we were checked on regularly throughout the meal. The restaurant itself also had a really good vibe and seemed to be doing really well.

What A Fantastic Vegan Find - Edit
Shrub is a fabulous place and I will definitely revisit. Its spacious, has a lovely vibe and the staff are brilliant too. Ordered corn ribs with BBQ sauce and beetroot houmous with flatbread...Mains were squash, baba ganoush with wild rice and quinoa for me and linguine verde for hubby who ended with raspberry chocolate tart. The food was excellent, full of flavour and very tasty, we left clean plates. Highly recommended.

I had a meal at Shrub back in October and it’s safe to say I’ll be back next time I’m in Chester. The menu is unreal, everything was delicious and the service was wonderful, such friendly staff.

I am never one to write reviews but I am so glad we found this place and hope many others will too. The food was incredible, so flavoursome, the BEST vegan restaurant I have visited in my 3 years so far as a vegan. Wonderful atmosphere created by the interior design, layout, lighting and waiters. My partner who isn't vegan thoroughly enjoyed the food too, struggling to believe this delicious food was plant based. We had a cauliflower starter we've been attempting to recreate since as it was so divine, we had no idea cauliflower could be so delicious. We enjoyed our evening so much we revisited the following day for Sunday lunch, which also did not disappoint. Delicious vegan food at such a reasonable price and wonderful staff/service. Faultless and I can not wait to return whenever we are able. THANK YOU.

A fab addition to Chester's growing vegan repertoire. Spoiled for choice, I had the mushroom "calamari" wrap and some bacon cheese fries (and a cheeky pilsner). My omni friend (who was also very impressed) had to roll me out of there. I'll be coming back as often as I can.

Should have paid more attention to another review... The main meals and starters at dinner are huge! We had mushroom calamari, BBQ cauliflower and meatballs (main) and barely finished.

A bit loud for my liking as there's music playing both inside and on the terrace, which was a bit too loud.

Sunday lunch - Edit
I have only had a take out Sunday roast from Shrub due to its soft opening during the pandemic. The roast was really tasty though my husband and I both loved it and very much look forward to getting to properly visit Shrub when life is a little more normal again
