BEST VEGAN RESTAURANT IN CHESTER - Edit
I’ve visited shrub several times now and is always my go-to when in Chester. The food is amazing and the restaurant itself has a beautiful interior with a gorgeous outdoor Terrace area perfect for warmer months!

Best vegan place I've visited - Edit
I visited this venue last May and wasn't disappointed. I had had the intention of visiting other venues during my long weekend stay in the city, but Shrub was so good that I returned the following day. The menu has so much choice that it makes for a very difficult decision.

We've wanted to visit Shrub for ages and a spontaneous visit to Chester meant we could finally go! Well worth it - the food was amazing and we've definitely got to come back for the 'Shrub Roast' which looked amazing. Great choices; really tasty and the portion sizes were spot on. Every member of staff was friendly and helpful too and we've already started planning our next trip.

A very nice atmosphere and a very good all vegan menu with Curry’s, burgers, salads, pasta and Shepherds pie amongst the offerings. There is a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu and they also serve draught lager, wine and cocktails as well as tea and coffee.

Wow first time in a Chester for a few years and was very impressed with Shrub. Food was absolutely gorgeous and restaurant is lovely with a real cozy atmosphere. Will definitely return next time we are nearby to try more of the options.

Super tasty dishes (the cauliflower bites should not be missed) with a regularly changing menu. We have brought a few meat eaters here and they have always loved it.

All of the food at shrub was delicious. I rarely have three courses for dinner but I couldn't resist here. I had the flatbread for the main course and it was so good! There is a huge choice and service is excellent too.

Shrub has been a real 'grower' for me. Love the focaccia (never thought I'd be ordering bread...), there are lots of cool small plates, and the Shrub burger is a regular burger, nicely executed.

Lovely food in a super cool venue - Edit
This is a super cool venue in the pedestrianised Chester shopping area; it is upstairs and has heated undercover outdoor seating, overlooking the street below. The indoor areas are beautiful; a great deal of thought has gone into the decor. Even the washrooms were decorated with flowers! The menu is small but varied , ranging from a poke bowl to a burger. Everything is 100% plant-based and all the food coming out was freshly made, looking and smelling delicious. I had the pesto linguine which was superb. They also do a wide range of drinks including imaginative cocktails. The music was loud but very good and the staff were all lovely.

Satisfied all my cravings for a roast dinner, the house Seitan was banging 👌🏼 dog friendly, lovely terrace overlooking Chester city centre. Restaurant has a lovely vibe. Good beer options and the corn ribs were delicious 🤤

Absolutely stunning atmosphere. Beautiful food and service. We ordered the roast which was lovely, the cauliflower cheese was a nice touch. The only negative would be that I wish there had been a little more flavour and seasoning.. maybe some cranberry sauce on the side or maple seasoned carrots? It was delicious, but for the price- you expect amazing flavour.

First time at Shrub, the food was so good, fantastic menu choices and staff helpful and friendly. My partner and I shared a burger which was helpfully cut through for us and with it we chose a selection of small side dishes to share. The tofu side was wonderful, the asparagus and broccoli so good and best of all the fries dusted with what tasted like salt, pepper and Chinese five spice - not sure if that was correct but whatever it was; they were really, really nice! All yummy 😊😊
