Don't have any good or bad opinion about it. Deception because of too many non available items. Lack of service, no explanation of the menu, or what. Minimum of minimum. And what about the food, it was OK but way far the best that I had in vegan Japanese food. I put 3 because it's vegan but I think it deserves less. Overrated.

Stylish and authentic cafe - Edit
This place combines pure style, traditional approach and the resting atmosphere of a late hours Japanese cafe, tourists could be looking for.
Read moreCalm bar with quality jazz music, professional staff and delicious food of limited quantity – it disappears from the menu really quickly – is the Osaka must see.
The food was delicious, maybe, the best vegan sushi I ever had, but the main thing about this place is that it gives authentic experience.
Pros: High level of kitchen, Atmosphere, Authenticity

Simple but delicious sushi - Edit
The restaurant is small and cozy, the food is incredible. You can order through the QR code on the counter. They have a menu set with several nigiri, two sushi rolls and miso soup, but you can also choose to try other rolls as well.

Amazing veg sushi, every one was so delicious and different. If you happen to be in Osaka, you should definitely try it. I’ll suggest to go early to avoid sold outs.

Creative Nigiri Sushi Experience - Edit
Minamo is the sister-vegan restaurant of Paprika, another local staple in Osaka for plant-based diners and friends. I was excited to try one of Osaka's latest sushi joints made specifically for those that don't eat fish.
Read moreThe restaurant is located on the basement floor meaning you must take the stairs down for access. It's a small sushi bar that seats maybe ten individuals.
You order by scanning the QR code and making your selections. I went with their vegan omakase set (¥2500) which contained ten pieces of vegan sushi made from a variety of ingredients. Presentation was delightful as every piece was meticulously crafted and there were a few hits such as their 'crab meat' and ikura pieces. A few others were nice but fairly simple such as carrot and mushroom.
Overall, very satisfied to see a nice sushi restaurant be made available for vegans. Prices were higher than I liked but for the accessibility of it all, can't complain.
One small thing that bothered me though was their touchiness about us tipping and pointing out the tip jar. You never have to tip in Japan so I found this quite odd and it felt a bit like a page out of a western rulebook.

Sorprendente - Edit
Cuesta encontrar el pequeño sótano, nos ha tocado en la barra y solo decir que hemos repetido varios platos. Precio más que correcto, ambiente relajado y servicio excelente

Excellent Experience - Edit
The staff were very friendly and served me quickly. Their vegan dishes I had were delicious (the entire menu is vegan). I ended up ordering more of the shiitake nagiri because it was so delicious.

Excellent vegan sushi - Edit
The vegan sushi here was incredible. There were a lot of options to try. As a vegetarian, often the only options available are cucumber and avocado rolls, but here there are dozens of options to try. All the food we tried looked beautiful and was carefully prepared. Ordering was through a phone and very easy. We enjoyed everything we ate.
Read moreThe main room for improvement would be the customer service. Both the people working there seemed very disinterested in making conversation beyond the standard greeting and did not offer any information on the food presented to us. Maybe it was a language barrier issue. We were the only people eating at the restaurant, which was a shame since the food was so good. Perhaps with better customer service, it would be more popular?

Amazing experience and artful food - Edit
Sleek, minimalist, all-vegan sushi bar tucked away down a flight of stairs. Great ambience and service. I’d give it TEN stars if I could, for the incredible artfulness of the food. Each roll was prepared before our eyes by an impossibly chic chef using tweezers to create miniature masterpieces. The only downside is that the vegetables were prepared to so realistically mimic high-end seafood nigiri that they made my daughter suspicious, since she is used to eating mostly bland cucumber and avocado rolls. The eggplant nigiri is phenomenal and so is the one with the carrot and mayo-like sauce. I definitely recommend the ginger highball—and the sake came with a life-size rose molded from ice. Felt like a rock star eating here. Thank you!!

Best sushi in Osaka - Edit
Amazing dining experience and the highlight of our entire 10 day trip to Japan. Don’t miss Shojin Sushi Minamo in Osaka!
Read moreWonderful transformation of flavors and textures. We had the 10 piece assortment, hot sake, the enoki sushi, and the beautiful matcha/strawberry dessert. Don’t follow Apple Maps; the restaurant is north of where Apple Maps leads you. Utilize the directions in the description and photos to find the entrance.
Thank you, Ellie, for such a memorable sushi experience!

Excellent, highly recommended - Edit
Had the plate with ten different sushi pieces, each had it's own unique flavour. The matcha desert was also very creamy and with great taste. Will definitely go back, if I get a chance.

The best sushi ever - Edit
Yes better than real sushi because you aren't endangering sea critters.
Read moreIn all seriousness, this sushi was fantastic. I opted for 10 piece plate to try a little of everything and it was difficult to even choose a favorite. A big stand out was the melted cheese sushi which I ended getting an additional order of because of delicious it was. The tofu plate was also extraordinary as it had a bitter but pleasant taste. The tofu was so soft it didn't require chewing as it just melted in my mouth.
The same texture of that tofu was found in the matcha dessert which was also excellent. The staff were extremely kind and attentive to each dish they served. This is a must eat at Osaka!
Note: its difficult to make a reservation online if you're a foreigner but you shouldn't have a problem doing a walk in.

Unique & special! - Edit
My non-vegan boyfriend and I equally enjoyed our meal here. The sushi options were unique and unlike anything I’ve ever had. We sat in the small room in the back on the floor and it was a very cool experience! The service was great, food came out quickly, and ordering was done through the phone. We came around closing time so they were sold out of some items but there was still plenty to choose from. It was delicious! I highly recommend.

Do you want to have a real sushi-restaurant experience in Japan? For vegans, Shojin Suhsi in Osaka is the place to go! It's a bit hard to find because there's only a sign and a stairway at street level, but if you know that you'll find it.
Read moreDownstairs a true sushi bar awaits where the guests sit around the chef. This chef creates his sushi with the precision of a scientist, the dedication of a professional and the aesthetics of an artist. What a joy to see this man create vegan sushi right in front of the guests!
I ordered 10 pieces (1 of each available flavour) and enjoyed every single one of them. To my surprise there was no ginger to "reset" the palette, so I used water to cleanse after each piece of sushi to fully enjoy the next one. Every single piece of sushi has a balanced array of flavours and even the texture hasn't been forgotten. Everything is perfectly bite size, while vegetables are never too soft or too raw to eat. Since there's hardly any oil or seasoning, the food seemed to be very healthy.
In the end, I only have one word for Shojin Sushi Minamo: superb!
Pros: superb food, authentic Japanese sushi experience, healthy
Cons: not open on Wednesday / Thursday
