Takoyaki! - Edit
Great place for a light meal. It's a little on the pricy side but the quality is there.
Read moreI'm not fully vegetarian but my husband is. He had never had takoyaki before. I was so excited that he could eat the city's staple! As someone who has had the "real deal," this is a wonderful adaptation that I recommend.
The sleeper was the cheese skewer (I'm lactose intolerant and vegan cheese in Japan tends to be unimpressive). Perfect gooey texture without becoming a blob and accurate flavor.
Best for a light meal. Don't confuse it with the other Paprika locations, the menus are different.

Local food - Edit
We were happy to try the local food in vegan. The place was not easy to find but definitely worth it!

Pros: sehr guter Fleischersatz in Ramen, gute Brühe
Cons: etwas teuer für die Menge, die man bekommt, kleine Portion, Takoyaki schmeckten zu sehr nach Teig

Organic Vegan Meal at Papurika Shokudo, Osaka Japan - Edit
Loved the variety on the menu — you can enjoy a wholesome Japanese-style meal while also having Western-inspired options, all organic and vegan. It worked perfectly for mixed couple. I got to enjoy traditional flavours, and my Irish husband was happy with the more familiar Western choices. Everything felt healthy, balanced, and satisfying. A really welcoming spot for mixed tastes and a great example of how versatile vegan food can be.

Best Vegan Takoyaki Ever - Edit
I've had a few other vegan takoyaki and this is certainly the most realistic. It 'pops' like real takoyaki does, with the mushroom filling instead of octopus. The ramen was admittedly not great, but worth going for the takoyaki alone!

A hidden gem - Edit
I am always so grateful to find somewhere that does food that is both vegan and gluten-free. The restaurant is lovely inside and staff are very friendly. I had a selection of kushikatsu - vegan cheese (amazing), soy meat (and bit chewy and tasteless) and sweet potato (nice but a bit hard in the middle). I also had the mini katsu rice bowl which was nice. My boyfriend (non-vegan) had the takoyaki which looked great and he said it was much better than another vegan takoyaki we had before in Osaka.

Cons: The soy meat and sweet potato kushikatsu was meh

Highly Recommend for Vegan Takoyaki - Edit
My wife and I got two kinds of takoyaki, one was in a bowl of dashi, and we also ordered the yakisoba. We really loved the flavors and thought everything was balanced. It's a great way to get a taste of classic Osaka food (the takoyaki) in a plant-based friendly way.

Small place and menu - Edit
The place is cozy and I was lucky to sit down and eat. They gave very small options and you order by your phone. This felt more like a snack, most of the things are deep fried, not very healthy

They’re back! - Edit
I ate here a few times before, but then they suddenly had to close. Well, as of this month they’re back and even though the menu is a bit reduced right now, it’s still a great place to get some tako-less takoyaki and some kushikatsu. And apparently some of the other dishes will come back soon, too😄

Potrebbe essere meglio - Edit
Prezzi alti per le porzioni, l'unica cosa che mi è proprio piaciuta e mi farebbe tornare è il pezzo di formaggio, stratosferico e molto piccolino.

Closed - Edit
Unfortunately, the place was closed when we arrived, and this had not been updated on Google Maps. We noticed several others who also came in vain. Fortunately, there was a restaurant to the right of the entrance that offered vegan food.

Veganised Osaka food - Edit
Small place tucked away in a little corner in the Shinsekai area. You can see the Tsutenkaku tower in their outer sitting area.

A bit hard to find. Good food! - Edit
A cozy little restaurant tucked into an alley.
Read moreI got a bunch of the vegan takoyaki balls, which were basically cheese ball sort of things. Very tasty.
IMO better than the OKO Takoyaki place in Shinsaibashi, but with a MUCH shorter line and much better atmosphere. So much shorter, it will probably be faster to travel here to eat. Shinsekai is beautiful at night as well!
Resonable price and good food makes this a recommended stop if you are in the area!

Went for lunch with a non vegan colleague. She thought it had way too much seasoning, and too salty for her to finish. I thought it was on the salty side, but fine.

Fine, but not exciting or special - Edit
If you’re a tourist and need a bite to eat in the area this is a fine choice but you certainly wouldn’t make a special trip just to eat here.

Mostly deep fried stuff - Edit
I had high expectations based on the other reviews here but unfortunately, most things are just deep fried stuff in batter. Not to say it wasn’t good, it all tasted fine. However, it was all very greasy and pretty expensive. Wouldn’t go here again.

Cute place ✨ - Edit
Such a cute place with friendly staff. I tried the ramen - which was good and the earthmeat katsudon - outstanding. As for the kushikatsu, i enjoyed the pumpkin one a lot, earthmeat and zucchini was great, but the sweet potato one was so hard to eat.

Very disappointed - Edit
Read moreHad a very disappointing experience . We booked a space in advance earlier in the day and even took the time to meet with the chef to discuss our timing and requirements for a 6:30 PM dinner. We confirmed our reservation by calling half an hour before we left, but upon arrival, we were shocked to find that our food was delayed by an hour.
The only explanation we received was that they had unexpectedly more customers. While I understand that things can get busy, the lack of communication and the way my family and I were treated is unacceptable. We felt overlooked and unvalued as customers, and it definitely ruined our evening.
I don't think I'll be returning to paprika Shokudo anytime soon. I hope they can improve their service for future guest
