Serves meat, vegan options available. 300+ years old restaurant specializing in tofu. Offers 5- and 9-course tofu tasting menus. Vegans should specify (in case of fish flakes, etc). Last order 8pm. Open Tue-Sat 11:30am-8:00pm.
The set menu is NOT able to get vegan. But after lots of try to understand each other, with notes in Japanese about what I can eat and some words (they don’t speak any English) I was able to get the cold tofu with sides and rice and fried tofu. A little sad that I couldn’t try more sorts but the tofu where amazing!
We came for the tofu and weren't disappointed - Edit
The different textures, flavours and styles of tofu on the menu made this place well worth a visit. It's a more traditional restaurant than others we visited which was a nice experience. It also meant the staff were a little less sure of English. There is an English menu but it wasn’t always clear what to expect.
One of us tried a few a la carte dishes, the other had a tasting menu. We mentioned that we were vegan in case there were fish flakes etc, but we weren't convince our waitress fully understood (we speak a little Japanese so didn’t just shout 'vegan' at her!). That said there was only one element on one of the 8 dishes which we thought may have involved meat or fish.
And about those dishes.... They were great. Traditional Japanese flavours and tofu in fresh blocks, made into dumplings, dried and powdered, jellied... Everything tasted lovely.
A previous reviewer mentioned that you could get a few things, but in our experience the only thing we could get was plain Cold and plain Hot boiled Tofu with some soy sauce.
Holy heck it was amazing. This was the best tofu I've ever had. We paid 1300 yen in total and we were both happy with what we ate. Delicious.
Staff were lovely and attentive. Would definitely go again.
Lots of tofu options here. Very limited English spoken on our visit but they have an English menu. Dashi is used in many of the dishes but there are a couple without.

Amazing Tokyo experience - Edit
I would recommend having some level of Japanese proficiency when going here to ensure that your needs are met.
Read moreRealistically, this restaurant best suits pescatarians, as it is difficult to know what does or does not have fish broth/dashi.
The dishes are absolutely fantastic, with the eight course dinner set being a very special experience.
The staff are very kind and professional.
Side note: you must take your shoes off when entering this restaurant, so wear socks with your shoes or bring them along.
Pros: Extremely kind staff, Delicious tofu, 300 years of experience
Cons: Difficult to communicate veganism, A bit pricey

There is meat in some dishes. Most dishes have Dashi(fish flakes). Use translator to tell them you want the Tofu dishes without meat or dashi
