Old Dog, New Tricks

Unique dining experiences are hard to come by when opting for Indian cuisine in Dubai, but among the slew of available outlets, this one managed to deliver just that. With a menu curated with items originating from Jodhpur, I found myself on somewhat of an unexpected culinary journey as dutifully gorged my way through the bounty that I had acquired. Yes, there were a few tasty classics that didn’t deviate from the norm, such as the bhel puri, the range of breads and the medu vada, but there were others, that though visually familiar, conceal a flavour profile that was both different and delightful. Nothing was more indicative of this than the samosa. At face value, it was just a superb looking iteration of those that had come before, but one bite into the ludicrously delicious pastry and I was acutely aware that this was a far cry from what I knew, but equally satisfying. Another first for me in this feast was the tandoori bharwaan aloo. Though not a dish I was blown away by, it still offered another point of welcome difference. On a final, positive note, I have to give mention to the wonderful packaging. Sometimes these takeaways can be something of a squished, lukewarm affair, but this was far from an issue here.
I couldn’t fault anything to the point of criticism, and I have no doubt I’ll return in the future, though I can’t honestly say I preferred it over the more established dishes that I know and love.
