Exceptionally good food. Creative and tasty. Great variety to choose from. Nice local beers as well. I would have given 5 stars but they serve cheese as well. Make sure to state that you are vegan. Very friendly service. Melon gazspacho did not have as much melon taste as I would like but still very tasty.

Delicious vegan menu - Edit
I ate here my first vegan dessert in more than a week in the city! Finally a delicious cheesecake and a chocolate Lava cake that satisfied my cravings. I had the gyros and it was delicious! I also could finally try the Tzatziki. I was there with non vegans and they said it was perfectly indistinguishable from the dairy one! The restaurant itself is located in the city open-air market so the surroundings are also very nice and traditional.

I recently dined at "Roots" in Thessaloniki, Greece, and it was an exceptional vegan experience. The vegan Gyros was incredibly flavorful, the loaded fries and grilled Brussels sprouts with plant-based Camembert - to just name a few - were a perfect appetizer, and the chocolate lava cake for dessert was divine. The food was not only delicious but also a testament to the creative possibilities of vegan cuisine. Pairing it with great local beers added to the enjoyment. The restaurant's super chill and tasteful ambiance created a delightful dining atmosphere. Super friendly and helpful service! Highly recommend for both vegans and those looking to explore plant-based options!

I tried the carbonara ( very good) and the pita bread with some sauces. Everything was delicious and as a vegan I think it was the best place that I went in Tessaloniki. I would love to repeat the experience!

This restaurant is great from opening hours and open kitchen to the location next to the monastery and in an alley with taverns. While you will find fast food on the menu it suprises with artisan vegan dishes. Give it at least two times a chance 😉 i am here today for the third time.

Read moreLoved the deconstructed gyros. From the soft grilled pitta bread, the mustard sauce and the other thicker one, the very-well seasoned skin-on chips and special mention to the meat alternative for a very genuine flavoursome spice mix.
Plenty of vegan choices so I would definitely go back!

With a friendly service at a central location, rOOts is a must-visit location in Thessaloniki. The menu is fully vegan, so there is a lot to choose from (although they do serve some dishes with cheese if customers request that). My personal recommendations would be, for appetizers:
