Just like my fave in Japan

I went in with tempered expectations, and was pleasantly suprised to find a 10/10 ramen bowl in Boston. Not only is the ramen served here authentic to what you'll find in Japan, its up there with the best bowls I had in Japan over two months of traveling.

The vibe is a bit dark and bustling. It was a convention weekend, so the place was packed basically everytime I was in there. Regardless, lines moved at a reasonable speed; generally faster than i expected. I think I waited probably 7-10 minutes on average for my bowl after ordering.

I reccommend the Miso Garlic and the Yuzu ramen bowls. Also consider ordering extra noodles for like 4$ if you are the hungry time.

Cost per bowl in May of 2025 was something like 18.50$ before tip. Not cheap, but not crazy either for the portion size.

Always get the ramen, spicy, sushi is a bit overpriced. I miss the miso avocado you could order on the side. Proportions got better, but like everything in Boston, its gotten a bit expensive

Favorite vegan ramen spot in Boston

This place rocks. All vegan, variety of options for ramen, even has sushi and other interesting/fun apps (miso avocado). I order from here for takeout and also dine in relatively frequently. Especially cozy during cold winter months

Pros: All vegan! , Filling/large portions

Cons: Small indoor dining area

My go to when in Boston

This is the best ramen I've had in my life (I may not be a connoisseur but the sentiment still stands). Even the non-vegans in my party were impressed. It's a chill spot and service is great and fast. I've been fortunate to go when it's not very busy each time but the place is fairly small so I imagine it can get crowded.

OK Ramen, good vegan broth options

The best thing here are the vegan broth varieties. The flavors are sort of off to be honest, and I find it kind of weird they offer cheeze as a topping.

Pros: Vegan broth options

Cons: Weird tastes , Always so crowded

Top Ramen So Far

Was visiting Boston and found this ramen place. I got their most popular dish, the No.5 Yuzu Sesame with extra noodles and speciality ($22.75). The Specialty is $1 more and it entails smoking the ramen. Overall, the broth was delicious and the texture of the noodles was perfect with a slight chewiness. Toppings were plenty.

Pros: Solid Ramen , Delicious Broth , Cozy restaurant

Delicious

Very small space and a decent line up to get in. Orders can only be taken once a table is free. Definitely don’t come with a group of more than 4. Food though was truly delicious. Sushi rolls and ramen were amazing.

Pros: Food is excellent

Cons: Tight space, Long waits

Really tasty tapas

We stopped in here for a quick snack. We didn’t get ramen but we had the avocado bites (both spicy and regular) and they were delicious. Staff seemed very overwhelmed, and the place is small and very dark.

Pros: Lots of tasty offerings, Portions are generous

Cons: Small, dark restaurant , Frazzled staff

Absolutely Phenomenal

Have been here twice and hope to continue coming back every time I’m in Boston! The flavors are fantastic, it’s a welcoming friendly place with a great location, and they keep innovating. Order your ramen “signature” and they’ll serve it with a lid full of smoke on top, very cool!

Really amazing ramen 🥹

Better than most of the vegan ramens I’ve had in Tokyo… the chef is from Japan! They only have a few ramens and Mac and Cheese on the menu, so to me it seemed authentic like the individually owned restaurants in Japan that only make one or a couple dishes but do them really really well. I got the yuzu sesame ramen, and the broth was really thick, it was a huge bowl and I actually couldn’t finish it and was extremely full for hours… so good value for the money. I just wish I didn’t get cheese in it. Also, you can control the amount of spiciness in the ramen!

So yummy

We tried the yuzu (not spicy) and Japanese curry (delicious spicy) and it was really tasty. Will definitely try another soup next time.

Pros: Selfservice , Open kitchen , Toilet

Really disappointed

I didn't like the yuzu ramen. The noodles were OK, but the broth tasted off-putting. I also tried their sushi because it seemed interesting but I didn't even finish it because I didn't like the crispy onion pieces that completely covered it.

Big portion, tasty food

For the ramen bowls you get the same ingredients but pick your flavour of the soup. Big portions and very tasty.

Good date location?

Lighting is pretty dark, but not unpleasantly dark - "atmospheric", perhaps. I got the No. 8 spicy miso ramen. It was decent but a little bland - I wouldn't come here for the taste as much as the fact that it's ramen (/sushi). Might be a good date night place, though there's a time limit on how long you can take up tables (60 min?). (But there's a vegan ice cream place a building or two down you can go to after. If they're open - it's winter right now.)

I'm glad it exists for sure. It's nice to have a vegan ramen shop.

Atmosphere - 4.5/5
Appearance of food - 4.5/5
Taste - 3.5/5

Delicious ramen

The ramen was amazing and the serving size was quite large. They also had a plant-based meat which added a really nice flavor. It was a bit salty for me, but I would still recommend anyone go there and try it!

Delicious Ramen!

Great little restaurant with sit down eating. We had the No. 5 ramen and the miso avocado sushi. We ordered mild spicy because it was our first time eating there and wanted to gauge what their version of spicy was. That being said, everything was absolutely delicious and we could definitely have ordered spicier. Ready great flavor, a must try!

Pros: Delicious ramen , Good prices , Quick service

Beware if you have allergies

My friend is allergic to gluten. Three times she stated this to the person who took our order and requested gluten free noodles ( me and our other friend were there and heard it too). They served her regular noodles and she got super ill. Be careful if you have allergies. They did apologize and make her a new meal. The food was excellent tasting, but it was a scary experience for my friend.

Pros: Complexity of flavors, Fast

Cons: Not food allergy friendly

Tasty ramen

We ordered the spicy red miso ramen and the spicy roasted miso avocado roll. The ramen was pretty good, and actually had some spice. The roll was not spicy at all and I wonder if they gave us the wrong thing, but the crispy onions on top were delicious. For a dollar or so you can get the “special” version with smoke. I’m not sure if it adds flavor, since we haven’t tried it without it, but it was fun. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Boston, but keep in mind it gets very busy at peak mealtimes.

Ramen For Real!!

Get the signature for BIG smoke flavor and reveal. Took my omnivore family and kids. Kids love ramen and omnivores love this place too. Beautiful location on Newbury St. busy place, but tables do change over pretty quickly!

Pros: Food, Smoke, Location

Always wonderful

I’ve been to Red White a couple times and have never had a bad dish, love their food! I tried the sushi rolls and mac and cheese for the first time a couple weeks ago and thought the flavor was so powerful, would definitely get again. I don’t know if they’ll bring it back, but have also heard good things about the ramen with the dragon broth. Really can’t go wrong with a dish here.

Pros: Cool flavor combinations, Changing menu items, Fast service
