Best I have had in Penang - Edit
Really nothing to dislike. For my First post pandemic visit I tried the rise n shine. Second visit was for their mushroom aglio olio which I like with some chilli flakes. All yummy. Water is still served gratis.

The best overall in Penang - Edit
Everything I’ve tried from them has been consistently great. On the pricey side, as with all vegan cafes here, but they have just about everything and are very professional. Even a vegan friend who works at PinXin and Wholey Wonder prefers to eat at Real Food, which should say something. Vegan options are clearly marked on the menu.

organic, vegetarian, vegan - Edit
The vegan mushroom pizza here is delicious. They make their own vegan cheese and the pizza crust is made in house with sourdough. They also have a wide variety of vegan bread. The vegan ice cream here is made with nuts instead of soy, my favorite is the black sesame flavor. It's an organic restaurant and they get most of their produce from local organic farmers. They don't use MSG, hydrogenated oil, etc. It's super healthy and very tasty.

Seaside Stunning Vegan Food - Edit
I found a super delicious Carbonara here, creamy white sauce, flavored with herbs and nutritional yeast, a very cheesy texture, it's way tasty than those the "original" one! It made me and my travel companions can't forget the taste. 😋 There is also a steamed dumpling that is one of the popular meals. It is also a must-order, all the ingredients are hand-cut, and fried separately. It takes a lot of time making this dumplings! The skin is thin but solid, it is highly recommended!

Quality Western & Asian Vegan Food & Cakes - Edit
LAST VISIT: November 2017
Read moreWhat I Had: Scone, Steam & Fried Dumplings (RM19), Organic Mushroom Aglio Olio (RM24), Lentil (Quinoa) Coquette Burger (RM30), Carrot Cake, Chocolate Cake
Being at Straits Quay, the prices (which are definitely on the high side) should not come as a surprise, especially with the way they’ve market themselves as a healthy, organic etc. establishment.
The food here is good and doesn’t disappoint – using organic and quality ingredients but still managing to put out tasty food. In spite of that, I still do think that the food is slightly overpriced. Like the dumpling (which yes, were extremely addictive and amazing both fried and steamed), but RM19 for 8 dumplings? That’s about RM2 per dumpling! Still… not going to lie, it is my occasional guilty pleasure… (Guilty for paying RM19 for 8 dumplings). The mushroom aglio olio was just ok, with a nice assortment of mushrooms. The lentil coquette burger was delicious. I had their chocolate cake and carrot cake, both did not disappoint, especially the chocolate cake which would even impress non-vegans with its rich gooey chocolatey goodness. I had the scone one time as well, and it was AMAZING, flaky and moist like a normal buttery scone.
So, Real food goes onto my long list of pricey but consistently good vegetarian/vegan establishments (mind you, I can name more overpriced and overrated non-vegan places). All in all, (until the day I can count the number of vegetarian/vegan establishments in Penang which offer good western food on two hands) I would recommend real food for the occasional vegan/vegetarian western food.
Pros: Great tasting food & cakes, Decent Portions, Nice Ambience
Cons: Quite Pricey, Service could be faster

Real Food, Penang - Edit
This place is great. I could hang around a place like this all day. Just wifi up and eat and drink as and when you like.
Read moreMy spouse and I had the following all vegan delights:-
2 soups - one mushroom and one pumpkin
A juicy mushroom burger & a drier quinoa & lentil burger (next time I'd ask for vegan mayo to go with the quinoa & lentil burger to make it perfect).
3 scoops of complimentary ice cream.
I'd happily recommend this to anyone including the suggesting of having vegan mayo or tomato relish or something else with some humidity to go with the lentil & quinoa burger.

Not A Place For The Tight Budget - Edit
Considering the location of this restaurant, you can more or less figure out the price range of their food. :)
Read moreIt's a vegan restaurant serving very healthy food. The food is still good nevertheless but some may find it bland if they are not used to healthy cooking.
Their deep fried dumplings are good.
Just wish that they can offer more affordable dishes for daily/regular visits. I pass by this restaurant very often and I find it very quiet or almost "empty" most of the time. And I often wonder how do they survive in business.
Pros: Healthy Cooking, Vegan, Lovely Environment
Cons: Pricey

Good Food But... - Edit
Good food but it's very expensive and they offer small portions. It's nice that there are many vegan options and the staff is very kind and knowledgable. This is not an 'everyday place' more of a special occasion restaurant.

My Favorite Organic Vegitarian Restaurant !! - Edit
If you are searching for delicious vegitarian food with nice ambience to dine, I strongly recommended REAL FOOD in Straits Quay Penang. The ambience is so welcoming, clean and nice with free wifi. And the food, it’s not only vegitarian, its “organic” fresh, healthy, delicious vegitarian food. I always find satisfaction after having lunch / dinner in REAL FOOD as it fills my tummy yet I don’t feel over loaded (If you are a heavy meat or rice eater, you will know what I meant).
Read moreMy favourite food is the organic pizza with thin crust, fried dumplings, rojak and self made vegan ice cream in chocolate favour. I will always go back to dine in REAL FOOD to catch up with friends and families whenever I am back to Penang… bravo Real Food, keep up the good job and wait for my next visit again, and again, and again.

Fresh, healthy and yummy. Perfecto!!!!! - Edit
If you are searching for fresh and healthy organic food. Well this is the one cause the food here just delicious. My favorite food is organic pizza with pesto sauce ,baked brown rice and classic green. Although it takes a bit more time to wait for the food but it's worth waiting when I taste the food oh my god..yummy. Even the juices serve is so pure and freshly squeeze. If you request for ice, they will give you in a separate glass instead of mixing into your juice.my favorite is apple beetroot carrot. We ended up with their self made vegan ice cream and my favorite is strawberry. Will definitely come back for more.

Read moreWhen I visited Penang last month I was in the straits quay to look at the yatchs and I came upon a treasure; Real Food!!
On the outside it does not look like a restaurant but it smelled great as soon as I stepped into the café.
Realfood is a organic and vegetarian restaurant;just up my alley and I decided to give it a try
I tried the recommended steam dumpling and pizza and boy was it good. The steam dumplings are very flavourful and the pizza was very thin crust.
I ended up having all my meals there for my 3 day trip.
Definitely recommended. I'll be coming back for it the next time I make another trip to Penang!!
Pros: good food , quiet atmosphere
Cons: 15 mins waiting time

One of the Best Organic Vegetarian Restaurants - Edit
When I first being asked to try an organic restaurant in Straits Quay, Penang, I was skeptical because I am very much a meat person. However, when I arrived at the restaurant, I was impressed by the clean interior design and welcoming atmosphere. I was greeted by a friendly staff, escorted us to comfortable table and quick introduction on the drinks section.
Read moreAlthough the menu was pretty much self-explanatory, the staff was more than happy to introduce and provide suggestion on the most popular dishes, signature dishes, etc. We ended with a pot of relaxing tea (we opt for bigger pot as there were several of us) and hazelnut milk. The tea indeed provide some relaxing feel (I believe it is with the help of the calming atmosphere that I felt relaxed).
We ordered the suggested dishes, which are the steamed dumplings, portobello burger, aglio olio pasta and pesto based pizza.
The stuffing inside the dumplings were so precisely cut make each dumplings cooked evenly, taste delicious and at the same time felt healthy.

The burger came along with some dried snacks such as bananas, mango, papaya, etc. Unlike other burgers that comes along with greasy and deep fried fries, this dish was a much better choice!

Excellent Organic Vegetarian Cafe - Edit
My first impression about the Staff is very friendly. Dining inside Realfood feel very comfort, the ambiance is very nice & the food is reason enough to go!
Read moreAfter I tried the real food, they have wonderful fresh organic food. Since changing to a healthier way of living, real food still the best after I've been hocked around others organic restaurants in Penang. My favourite one is the pesto sauce of pasta/ pizza. And then, the signature of steam dumpling because it allow me to consume variety vegetables in one time.
All the dishes I tired were superb, especially I like the banana pancake, taste so yummy and the portobello burger, which I noticed it's been featured as the best burger on Penang Island by new strait time .
There are few organic vegetarian restaurants where I live, and none compare to the quality and taste I found here. Real food serve the finest food which I really like it...
