Est. Sept 2018. The first United States' vegetarian board game cafe. About 95% of the menu is vegan and most of the rest can be made vegan (exception is the mozzarella sticks). Items that contain dairy or egg are clearly labeled. Serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. Favorites are the Korean fried cauliflower, the Salvadorean sea fry tacos (veggie fish) and the vegan nachos with made-in-house vegan cheese sauce (unclear if ALL of these are vegan). Has more than +1000 games and RPGs. Also offers alcohol and non-alcohol drinks. Relocated from 607 S 2nd St. Open Mon-Thu 5:00pm-10:00pm, Fri 5:00pm-12:00am, Sat 10:00am-12:00am, Sun 10:00am-8:00pm.

Great location, lots of fun! - Edit
Their new location is huge and great! I got a chicken sandwich and it was pretty good, but very greasy and I would have liked a little more flavour or sauce (I think this is just on me ordering a kind of chicken sandwich I wouldn’t like as much as something else, though!)
Read moreThey seem to have a problem keeping some items in stock. Seitan wings seem to be frequently unavailable for instance, but hopefully they figure that out!
Service wasn’t great when I was there. I think this is maybe due to a few understandable factors, though. People are playing games and the servers might not want to disturb your games — you will need to flag them down, it seems… Which is fine, I just feel rude doing it! The place is also massive and some areas / floors are hidden from view. It’s possible that there’s a lot more going on than you think and the servers are super busy. Either way, it was hard to order food after showing up, but I was with a big group, and maybe it’ll be easier next time!
Pros: Vegan by default, Games!
Cons: Seem to frequently run out of food items, May be out of non-dairy milks for coffee, Hard to flag down servers

Both a fun place to visit AND an excellent meal! - Edit
We went to Queen & Rook because the concept of a board game cafe was fascinating, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our server RJ recommended a set of games based on nothing more than "my parents only know classic board games and I have little experience, please find something to introduce us to modern board gaming." Our chosen game and the trivia night were both fun, and the meal we had was excellent. I didn't expect one of the better treatments of a beyond burger I've had, but the Rook Burger was amazing. On top of all that, the restaurant was extremely queer/trans-friendly, with gender neutral restrooms and all employees sporting pronoun pins. I wish there was some place like this back home, but this was an excellent capstone to our Philadelphia vacation.

Meh. Basically Bar Food. - Edit
The food is basically bar food (greasy, plain), there were barely any toppings on the nachos, and the vegan chicken seemed to be from the frozen food aisle at the supermarket. Also, they charge $7 per person to play games, which seems exorbitant unless you plan to stay and play for a while.

Amazing food! - Edit
I received my food by delivery, and everything was amazing (even after reheating)! We were hoping to get the special dish for Dine Latino Restaurant Week, but it wasn’t available for delivery. It seems like we ordered half the menu. 😂
Read moreWe had Amy’s Pastelillos (Soy Chorizo & Potato and Yuca & Gandules), Crispy Brussels Sprouts, Kimchi Burger with Fries (with a vegan bun and vegan cheese), Jackfruit Carnitas, and a brownie and brookie (from Crust Vegan Bakery). I told you we ordered a lot. We haven’t had everything yet, but there have been no complaints thus far. Everything is so flavorful! The Brussels sprouts were a hit all around. We could have ordered a few of those, and that came from a person who isn’t the biggest fan of them. The yuca and gandules pastelillo was so filling. The carnitas were a great, and the kimchi burger and fries were wonderful.
I really have no complaints, and I can’t wait to visit this place in person.
Pros: Lots of vegan options , Variety of flavors/entrees for everyone’s tastes

Check this out, mate - Edit
Friendly space for board gaming. Full bar and menu features a lot of vegan options. The game master will help you find something new and help you get the game going, or choose an old favorite. My recommendation is that you reserve one of the booths

Decent food - Edit
I’ve only gotten take out here, so I cannot speak to the gaming experience... but the food is okay. The best thing we tried were the wings

Thanks for the review Kristblum- many of our foods are fried, so delivery always takes a toll on our items, we hope you can visit us in person sometime soon and we are glad you liked the wings. We have added new Four Flavor wings which are kind of like a margarita on wings!

Alright - Edit
Ok don’t get me wrong, they have great options here. BUT, I find the rule about the needing to pay a “gaming” fee even if you’re not playing to be ridiculous. It put a bad taste in my mouth for this place.

Gamer’s Heaven - And Mostly Vegan! - Edit
Friendliest, most unique veg establishment in years! Vegan food includes tempura, wings and fried cauliflower (various flavors). Also fantastic heartier options and desserts from Dottie’s and Crust. If you’re a gamer, you may never want to leave! They have a game library, games for sale and theme nights. Can’t recommend enough!
