A Miss From A Rose - Edit
Trusting that the unique, opulent five-star surroundings would be matched by the of quality the food, I entered here with a healthy bout of optimism. Alas, it soon transpired that I had been rather too hopeful. While things weren’t dire, they certainly didn’t do much to inspire any great enthusiasm.
Read moreThere were a smattering of dishes that proved worthy of some adulation, the potato croquettes and the hummus being chief among most these, but everything else hovered in or above the realm of satisfactory without troubling the dizzying heights of being memorable. That said, the whole meal was mercifully devoid of any poorly executed dishes; they could have been better, but I am well aware they could also have been considerably worse.
Perhaps the fault lay with my high expectations, but given the grandeur of the setting, I feel justified in saying that it could, and arguably should, have been of a higher standard. Essentially, it was a mildly enjoyable experience, though not one that I feel compelled to repeat.
