wheat free, vegan, vegetarian and cheap!

£6.50 for a huge takeaway box of vegan and wheat free food. Serves my favourite coconut water too! Hot and cold food and some delicious cakes with some vegan and wheat free chocolate. Places to sit inside. Very helpful and friendly staff. Definitely one not to miss out on when you take a trip down Portobello Market!

Pros: vegan and wheat free, friendly and helpful staff, delicious, healthy and cheap food

Fairly meh

Small vegetarian take-away right on Portobello road. Lots of warm food for veggies (stuff like shepherd's pie, moussaka, etc) but limited warm options for vegans. There was a list on the counter of everything warm that WASN'T vegan, though when I inquired about a couple of the other items (croissants & pizza) I found out they weren't either. All deserts were marked clearly so I ended up with a (very good) brownie and a ginger beer. Boyfriend (veggie) had a pizza which he said was so-so.

Nice place as it's all veggie, but apart from that doesn't have anything over the (cheaper) street vendors selling falafel, vegetable dumplings etc. Especially as it's lacking in warmth- both due to food options and lack of seating.

Pros: central & easy to find on Portobello Rd, yummy & clearly labelled desserts

Cons: vegan options haphazardly marked, no seating

Eat here...

We ended up staying close to Grain Shop and I must have eaten here 3-4 times. The options are almost entirely vegan and the staff is friendly and helpful. In a city where everything is sooooo expensive, this place is cheap and they give you alot of food. Someone else said it, but definitely order your food w/o a lid and they keep piling on food. It is take away, but if you cross Portobello and keep walking, there is a cute park with benches close by. I wish there were more restaurants like the Grain Shop..

Pros: Tasty, Inexpensive, Huge portions

Cons: No seating

Good value take away

There were about 10 savoury dishes to choose from, most of which were vegan, and you can choose any number to have in your tub (small or large tubs). All the ones I had were great. Also, had an amazing vegan chocolate pecan brownie which was great value and exceedingly tasty.
Worth a visit if you're in the area and want a good value vegan or vegetarian take away

Pros: good range, tasty, vegan cakes

Great Food at an Affordable Price

They have a great selection of vegan and vegetarian foods. It's inconvenient that it is take-away only, yet, if you ask for your container with no lid you will get twice as much food so it's worth the hassle. There is a park nearby to sit in to eat. It's a good deal for the price which was around 5 pounds. I would actually give the food quality 5 stars. The split pea dal with rice and greens is delicious. There is a great variety to choose from for both vegans and vegetarians; however, the vegan food is not marked. I'm allergic to egg and dairy so I hate to have to ask about every item. They do have yummy vegan and gluten-free desserts which are marked. Overall a great little vegetarian eatery on Portobello Road.

Pros: Delicious food, Inexpensive (by London standards anyway), Generous portions if you get no lid

Cons: Take-away only, Vegan items not marked as "vegan"

Take-away

Near where Portobello Market is held on the weekend.
Small space consisting of counter and space to stand in front of it. It is a takeaway.

Selection of items which you can choose from to fill a container. Items range from stir fry to sheperd's pie type bakes. There is also a cake section with various slices, biscuits.

A container can be got for around five pounds.

For me this is a three and a half.

Pros: Healthier to some alternative takeaways

Cons: there is better cuisine in the world
