Fantastic veg lunch thali/set - Edit
How I’d say Podi and Poriyal differentiates itself from other similar Indian restaurants of its ilk like anandha bhavan, MTR, komala vilas etc is ambience. You feel so serene and calm in the space.
Read moreThe lunch thali is excellent - with potatoes, green beans, lemon rice and a healthy grain rice.
Pros: Excellent service, Rotating menu with seasonal veggies

A Disheartening Decline in Quality and Value
Read morePodi and Poriyal was once a go-to spot for my family and me, despite being one of the most expensive Indian vegetarian restaurants in Singapore. At around $37, the unlimited thali was worth every dollar, thanks to its high quality, generous portions, variety of subjis, and exceptional service. We didn’t mind the price tag because the experience justified it.
However, after receiving what I assume is Michelin recognition or something similar, the restaurant has taken a noticeable downturn. The price was only reduced by $5 to $32, but what we’ve lost in quality, variety, and service is immeasurable. The unlimited thali is now restricted, with minimal servings of subji, just sambar, curd, and nothing remarkable to speak of. It’s disappointing to see a place we once loved become just average, while still remaining one of the most expensive options.
Success should inspire growth, not a decline in standards. Unfortunately, Podi and Poriyal seems to have gone in the wrong direction. If they continue this way, I doubt it’ll be worth the visit anymore. I strongly urge management to rethink their approach, return to their original model of quality and unlimited offerings, and value their loyal customers.

Healthy and Flavourful South Indian Food - Edit
Vegetarian eatery with a changing menu, do call in advance to let them know if you have dietary preferences like allium-free food or vegan food! South Indian cuisine showcasing dishes from regions like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. Healthy, homely, and flavourful food featuring seasonal vegetables, legumes, and spice mixes. The signature 3-course lunch ($38) has a nice spread; there is also an a la carte menu. My personal favourites are the Alleppey Curry and Mixed Vegetable Poriyal.
Read moreBtw there is a second floor that sometimes hosts South Indian cultural events. Podi & Poriyal is also a social enterprise under Arpanam Experiences, with some profits going to support the welfare of migrant workers in Singapore and young girls in India.

Brilliant food - Edit
There is no menu here. You are surprised with chef's South Indian thali. The ingredients and items and unique and of high quality. Not your standard mass thali. I like the option of having rice or millet. Great personalised service. But limited seating and at specific times, so please call or reserve before coming here.
