Yummy but could have more options - Edit
Very delicious cakes and pies, however the cappuccino was a bit thin and the menu (at the time of my visit) does not have a lot of options

Not impressed - Edit
To start they have no pies. They have a limited menu of breakfast sandwiches and Mac and cheese. The max and cheese is just okay. The egg and cheese breakfast sandwich is not very good. The biscuit was dry and kept falling apart. The sausage had the texture of a bean patty and the cheese and egg was off the grocery store shelf. Instead of giving you silverware they have a basket of them by the door. There were dirty utensils mixed in with the clean.

Yum - Edit
The frosted sugar cookie had a vomit-like aftertaste, but other than that everything was good. The chocolate cupcake with strawberry icing was our favorite but chocolate peanut butter was a close second. The mint chocolate brownie was good.

So my fiancé is gluten-free as well as being vegan. And he LOVES sweets.... so luckily there aren't too many places that he can go hog wild. But he managed to find this place, the ONE, on our visit to Portland.

Everything is delicious and the place is super cute - Edit
We tried everything they still had when we got there an hour before closing. We could tell Petunia's is an awesome place simply because almost everything was sold out or had one or two slices/cupcakes left. The apple crumble, cupcakes, and mint choc chip ice cream we had were sooo good - but the Orange Olive Bundt Cake is to die for. We had to go back the next day to get a few more slices. The café is also really cute, and Petunia's sells cookie mixes so you can take some of the taste home.

Better than you have any right to expect - Edit
Amazing food, impeccable service & fair prices make this plant-based, GF haven stand out among every similar type of place that I've visited anywhere in the world. (And, yes, that includes Bali.) Their focus on comfort food w/o pretentiousness ensures no surprises when you tuck into your sausage egg & cheese biscuit sandwich. And their cakes? To die for. My only (constructive) criticism is that offering non-GF options for a select few of their items (like their chocolate chip cookie or biscuit) might make them stand out even more in the category. But I get that if you're running an allergen-free kitchen that's a tall order. And they certainly don't lose any points based on their current awesome offerings. That's just be a slight tweak/enhancememt. Kind of like the frosting on one of their sumptuous cupcakes.

Scone and latte type of morning - Edit
I had a scone and my bf had a cinnamon bun. Both were devoured in minutes. Wish there was a bit more baked goods in the shop instead of cakes.

Wonderful Little Spot - Edit
Was really happy to have found this place via Happy Cow. As the name implies, the restaurant focuses on desserts- but they also have fantastic vegan breakfast options. I went for the Sausage McMuffin sandwich (I know, I know… but you did instantly get my meaning). It was so good I had to get the ice cream sandwich, which was great. (Btw, coffee was also excellent.)
Read moreOne idea to make this place even better. The ice cream sandwiches are pre-made. I’d love to have them made to order, which would allow for more sandwich permutations!

Great Selection of Vegan Desserts - Edit
I grabbed a Thin Mint Brownie and a Salted Caramel Cookie Bar, both for $4 each. While portion was a bit small, they both really hit the sweet tooth. I enjoyed the brownie's flavors but wish it had the texture and chewiness of the cookie bar. If they had combined the two, I think it would have been a complete hit for me.

Sweet and savory! - Edit
We stopped by Petunia’s for lunch and enjoyed everything we tried. The breakfast scone sandwich was particularly delicious! The macaroni and cheese was very good too. My only regret is that their pot pie was not available. The cake we tried was amazing - moist, flavorful, and satisfying. Next time we are excited to try one of their pies!

Something for everyone - Edit
I'm not gluten-free, but I quite like Petunia's for a cup of coffee and sweet something or other, plus they're open later than most similar businesses. Take your gluten-free and/or omnivorous friends!
Read moreI haven't been a fan of their stuff that I've bought in a grocery store... I'm not convinced it travels well or holds up in plastic wrap...but I've enjoyed both savory and sweet stuff bought in the shop. So, if you've been disappointed by something bought elsewhere, go to the source and give them another try.
They've just opened dine-in again, too, so patrons can better enjoy the cute bakeshop vibe over a generously sized slice of layer cake.
Pros: Convenient hours, Friendly folks, Savory food options

Yummy vegan options, a tad pricey - Edit
Petunia’s Pies and Pastries was a great vegan cafe to try out in Portland. We were looking for lunch, so finding a place that also has vegan sandwiches, pot pies, and Mac and cheese was great. I enjoyed the large variety of sweets available and my colleague tried some ice cream. We also each had a sandwich.
Read moreUnfortunately, stock was limited. Their pot pie was unavailable, as was their tempeh bacon, meaning a number of the meal items could not be ordered as listed. Additionally, it was a bit pricey for the portion size.
Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere and tasty food, and am always thrilled to try an all-vegan restaurant.
Pros: Vegan sweets, Vegan ice cream, Food/meal options available
Cons: Pricey, Uses disposable packaging, Poor stock

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread alone is enough to make me a regular customer. I also enjoyed the Sausage, Egg & Cheese Breakfast Sandwich, made with high quality biscuits.
Read moreSeating is the reason my rating is four stars rather than five. Currently, the food here is for takeout only. So, I was disappointed that their indoor seating was unavailable for dine-in, and they also wouldn't allow me to eat at the standing table. I would have been happy with outdoor seating, but they don't provide that either. Furthermore, there is no public park or seating close by.
Pros: good menu variety
