As soon as I heard about this place, I knew I wanted to go. I’m (sadly) a big fan of anything fried, and whenever I go to Belgium I know that anything fried cannot be trusted because of the beef fat they fry in. I was so happy to find out this place exists and it outdid my expectations, the fries were insanely good (I love when fries are crispy), the burgers was good and the snacks amazing. It all tastes really good and as the “original” snack it tries to imitate. I can’t wait to go back and try more, the menu is so big.

Unfortunately, the taste didn’t quite live up to the expectations. The fries were a bit chewy, and I didn’t enjoy the snack I picked – probably just made the wrong choice.

All-vegan frituur as it should be, with vegan versions of traditional Belgian frituur snacks and deliciously crunchy fries. We had the homemade tartar sauce, which was really good. For snacks, we tried the forest mushroom croquettes (yum!), frikandel speciaal (classic), cheezz rings (not that cheesy), grizzly (nostalgia!) and the sweet devil burger, which was sweet indeed, but I didn't really get the devil part? The smash burger meat was really nice though! We'll have to return at some point to try the rest of the snacks.

Een vriendin en ik keken al een tijdje uit om hier te komen eten, maar toen we aan onze frietjes en snacks begonnen bleven we allebei achter met hetzelfde gevoel dat we er meer van hadden verwacht.
Read moreDe frietjes smaakten volledig naar zonnebloemolie en de snacks waren allemaal ‘net niet’ genoeg op smaak gebracht. We bewonderen de uitbaters wel dat ze de snacks zelf maken en niet enkel ingekochte vegan snacks serveren.
Hopelijk kwamen we op een slecht moment of een slechte dag. We zijn zeker bereid om nog eens terug te gaan om hopelijk met een beter gevoel naar buiten te stappen.

It was really nice to find a vegan version of all the “belgian classics”. Would highly recommend if you miss all the classic snacks you can find in non-vegan places (with vegan meat and fish) in addition to croquettes with seaweed and mushrooms.

I love everything about Pepas. I’ve traveled from Liège 4 times already just to go there.

So far, my favorite dishes are the Bicky Burger and Grizzly. For sauces: Joppie and Cheezie.
The restaurant is always full or almost full. I hope they can turn it into a chain.

They offer a vegan version of pretty much all the things you can never order in a regular fry shop. We tasted a decent selection, all very much approved, really tasty!

I wanted to try something local, and I was recommended to try these. They taste good and the service was good too. The problem that I had is I couldn’t use my card here as they seem to only accepta specific type of card. So, if you’re not from Belgium, do not forget to bring cash. But aside from that, the experience was nice.

As a vegan Belgian, Pepas really fills a void. It feels just like a normal frituur, except everything is vegan! Staff is very friendly. Delicious fries and snacks. Try the stoofvlees sauce!

Everything from the fries to the snacks to the sauces are proper old school Belgian fry shack quality. The fries have been nice and crispy every time I've been (which has been a lot. The staff is always incredibly nice. Prices are comparable to a regular fry shack. An absolute must for every fry lover in Leuven.
