Located in a historic speakeasy in San Francisco's old Latin Quarter, 'Peña' means a circle of people coming together and 'Pachamama' means Mother Earth. In early 2023, the restaurant was certified as a Legacy Business in the City of San Francisco in recognition of its long history of service to the community and for being a valuable cultural asset and a part of the 'Soul of the City'. Peña Pachamama is the only vegan restaurant that is a Legacy Business in San Francisco. The restaurant serves organic vegan South American cuisine with live performances after dinner on weekends. The menu is half raw and half cooked, and mostly gluten-free. Uses all organic produce and only extra virgin olive oil or organic coconut oil in dishes. The kitchen makes vegan ice cream and raw kale chips in-house. Serves a selection of cocktails, wines, and sangria. Visit web calendar for schedule of live entertainment events. Open Mon-Thu 4:30pm-9:00pm, Fri-Sat 4:30pm-10:30pm. Closed Sun.

Delicious South American vegan fare - Edit
I love the fried plantains and veg burger I had. Everything here is delicious! It’s nice to have vegan South American cuisine for a change. The mousse is divine.

Delicious and friendly! - Edit
We found the place on the app. Ordered lasagne, which was really good. Many options in the meny. Everything vegan cooked or raw. The kale chips is amazing! Friendly staff and live music in the evening but we got a taste of it during lunch. Had vegan cheesecake for dessert. Will come back!

First visit - Edit
I was in a hurry, this place is around the corner from Beach Blanket Babylon so I was seeing the show after. Service was a little slow but maybe I wouldn’t have cared if I hadn’t been rushed. I had lasagna and it was quite good, could’ve been hotter, came with a salad. Awesome ice cream for dessert. Met friendly other diners. I like the vibe here and will definitely be back.

So I came here and they seemed like closed, so I had so sneak myself in! The service was great itself and KALE chips are incredible! So I took also lasagna and it is not worth it, really taste was lacking of it and the 20$ for small small lasagna and some fresh salad (that was good) is not worth! Try burger maybe :)

Interesting cuisine - Edit
I wasn't very familiar with the dishes featured here. I had the Bolivian style Portapancho, which was interesting. For dessert I had the raw Chocolate Taco Crepe. The crepe texture wasn't to my taste, but overall it was fine. The place looked understaffed. No workers were visible for a long while when I entered, and the one waiter was often in the kitchen.

Good Food & Cool Atmosphere! - Edit
Awesome place! Came for lunch on a weekday. Barely anyone there. We ordered an item from the raw menu and the cooked organic menu. Do yourself a favor and get a small plate of the Yuca Fries with cashew cream sauce. So good!

We had the cooked sampler, empanadas and half pizza. Everything was really good! (Especially the empanadas) It’s a bit expensive, given that the portions are not too big.

Good choice. Great location. - Edit
We went for lunch on a weekend. It wasn’t crowded. We were seated right away. The decor features traditional costumes and masks. The food was tasty. After lunch, we climbed up to Coit Tower (just a few uphill blocks away), which offers spectacular views of the entire Bay Area.

Good food great entertainment - Edit
Loved the entertainment. The live band was awesome. We tried the potato side and the raw tacos. They'd ran out of cooked tacos. Everything was underseasoned for my liking so I did ask for salt and hot sauce. But that said the food was tasty. I would definitely recommend it .

If you plan on coming for dinner, be sure to make a reservation. They have live music at some dinner services. The food was good, but expensive. Portion size could be a bit more for the price.

Amazing vegan food - Edit
We were surprised to never have been here before! The menu is 100% vegan and almost 100% gluten free! They have one salmon dish for musicians on the drinks menu, but it's not even on the main menu! It is truly a gem and anyone who lives vegetarian/vegan lifestyle would appreciate this place! Even meat eaters would be happy here! We ordered 6 different plates and enjoyed every single one!
Read moreWe are musicians, so we were also happy to see the live stage in the middle of the restaurant. The owners, Quentin and Eddy, are charming and they have stories to tell! We plan on going back soon. This is our new favorite dinner place to go out to.

Thank you for visiting us! We took the salmon off the menu in 2014 and became 100% vegan, organic, gluten-free with half our menu raw foods. We look forward to seeing you again

Their menu items are very expensive, about $20 a plate and the portions are tiny. Nice place if you are looking for a fancy date night. The desserts are delicious!

Delicious but expensive - Edit
Very nice atmosphere! Food was tasty, but portions were too small especially considering the price. I left the restaurant hungry after finishing a (delicious) main course and three slices of a (tasty) pizza. And dessert. Bigger portions would make this an excellent place!

incredible experience - Edit
My husband and I had to hurry so we stopped by to get to-go food. The owner asked us if we would like to sit, & during our wait he was so kind & generous! He brought us a small dish & coconut water to drink, he informed me of a combo I could get instead of just raw corn tacos! I was so impressed by his service I was already all in! Then I ate the food & I can't wait to return!
Read moreI order the raw corn taco empanada combo w/salad! YUM! There is a raw side of menu & cooked side. So unique, so good! 😋

Beautiful Bolivian food - Edit
A carefully selected lunch menu that combines vegan interpretations of Bolivian food, creative raw combinations and comfort food. The burger and lasagne are popular, but I recommend experimenting with the Bolivian dishes - the chef's plate was phenomenal! Really unusual dishes, beautifully presented.

Nice vegan restaurant with nice raw options! - Edit
A raw food place anywhere in the world should for me personally always deserve 5 star's, now it's of course not the goal of a review, it should provide some more objective inside for future visitors.

They propose a lot of raw food options, lunch, dinner, desserts...
I went for dinner around 6:00 PM and strangely, I was the only one in the restaurant, and inside it is quite dark.

I haven't been here and years but went back recently and I'm glad I went! We got a table in the bar area since the room with the show was pretty full. Great service, delicious food, and it was perfect to be able to listen but from another room. I'll come back soon!
