Located in a historic speakeasy in San Francisco's old Latin Quarter, 'Peña' means a circle of people coming together and 'Pachamama' means Mother Earth. In early 2023, the restaurant was certified as a Legacy Business in the City of San Francisco in recognition of its long history of service to the community and for being a valuable cultural asset and a part of the 'Soul of the City'. Peña Pachamama is the only vegan restaurant that is a Legacy Business in San Francisco. The restaurant serves organic vegan South American cuisine with live performances after dinner on weekends. The menu is half raw and half cooked, and mostly gluten-free. Uses all organic produce and only extra virgin olive oil or organic coconut oil in dishes. The kitchen makes vegan ice cream and raw kale chips in-house. Serves a selection of cocktails, wines, and sangria. Visit web calendar for schedule of live entertainment events. Open Mon-Thu 4:30pm-9:00pm, Fri-Sat 4:30pm-10:30pm. Closed Sun.

Delicious Pique Macho - Edit
Veggies grilled just right with perfectly spiced plant-based chorizo. Followed up with dreamy Chocolate pecan brownie and some yummy cashew based vanilla ice cream. The restaurant had a cool South American vibe and great music. Unfortunately missed seeing a live show since it was a Thursday.

Organic, raw but really tasty, unique. (uncooked food has the most nutrition.) No.1 restaurant in my heart.

High vibrational vegan food at its finest - Edit
The venue had this higher frequency fit for healthy beings. The energy inside this venue was such an amazing vibration. The food was so delicious. I loved the Raw Corn Tacos, the flavors were perfectly balanced. Geronimo puts so much love in his cooking and his service was amazing as well. Another hit with me and my date were the yuca fries. And the Bolivian Pique Macho was a plate grilled to perfection. A place like this should be packed every night. I will definitely be back.

Not good - Edit
The food was dry, lacking flavor, and the portions were small for the price. We were really disappointed as many reviews were so positive

Live music and great food - Edit
This place is pricey, but not really for the city. It feels like a hole in the wall place is why I expected low prices, but it is so much more than that. The place is adorable and has live music and dancers and the food was so flavorful. I loved the Bolivian dishes!

Friendly server, disappointing food - Edit
I’ll start with the positive. The kale chips are the best I’ve ever had and our server was very friendly.
Read moreNow the rest. Although we were the only people in the entire restaurant, the food wasn’t fresh. The yuca was cold and undercooked and the potatoes that came with the my burger seemed like they were a day old. Very cold, hard, and chewy. The empanadas were basically flavorless and crust was stiff, almost stale. The burger was decent but for the price not worth it at all.
I left with a stomach cramp that lasted throughout the night.
I wanted to like this place so much, but I was so disappointed that I won’t be going back.
Pros: Kale chips , Friendly server
Cons: Price, Cold, stale food

Dinner and a show - Edit
I romance a restaurant like this - the way dining should be. An event with entertainment which is hard to find anymore. I recommend going for dinner and planning to see the entertainers (music, flamenco, song - depends on the night). The owners (Bolivian musicians) went raw vegan for health 18 yrs ago and slowly added one or two vegan options to their menu over time, becoming completely vegan menu 7 yrs ago. Talk to the owners - they love the community and will make you feel wanted. Food wise I attended on a specialty night with a pre-fix Thanksgiving menu by guest chef Jillian Love. All the food was good. It was simple and “traditional” Thanksgiving. If my carnivore mom had adapted our Thanksgiving dinner time be vegan like this Id throw her a party! It wasn’t cuisine-y like the upscale v restaurants in Los Angeles, where I’m from, but unfortunately it was priced that way:) Again, I didn’t have anything from the regular menu - just the guest chef on a thanksgiving. And I really loved the whole experience. I danced and clapped and loved it. I’d say the only improvement would be to lower prices to be more in line with the food type.

Great little jewel - Edit
A jewel of a find. The food was robust and flavourful. The coconut cream pie was excellent! Staff is friendly and the entertainment was fun! I had never actually seen Flamenco dancers live before.

Underwhelmed - Edit
The food was very basic and overpriced. I definitely felt like I was paying for the location and the novelty of it being all vegan. The place was deserted and it took a long time for us to get the attention of a server and get seated. Wanted to love this place with it being all vegan but very disappointed.

Dinner and a show! - Edit
What’s not to like, vegan food and Flamenco?! I thought the food was quite good. We had yuca fries, plantains, empanadas, and another dish with sausage and peppers. We also had the coconut cake and brownie. We also had sangria, horchata, and ice tea. Aside from the horchata, all was delish. I highly recommend. It’s pretty expensive though, so might be best for a special occasion!

Intimate dinner and concert - Edit
We were absolutely charmed by the Bolivian couple that has been running this restaurant for 20 years now. They care so much about providing the best experience and connecting with their guests. The intimate setting really makes it special. We attended a flamenco show followed by Cuban music and by the end everyone was on the dance floor; people of all ages and ethnicities.
Read moreThe cuisine is well thought through, with colorful sampler plates that are nice to share. The desserts are decadent... they gave us the energy to dance all night!
I highly recommend checking out this place for a fancy night out, although I'd also like to keep it a secret so it retains it's coziness.

Lots to offer at a price - Edit
Good food and fantastic atmosphere, but definitely one of those places where the prices are hefty to pay for the location. We enjoyed our meal here and would definitely come back for live music. The staff was friendly and the food was very good with fresh ingredients and a lot of flavor. But there will definitely be some sticker shock on the bill, even by SF standards.

Tourist Trap - Edit
Good vegan options, not very tasty though. The service was Ok. We paid for the meal and show and the best part was the show. Over priced for what you get in return. I really wanted this to be a place I could return to but I was underwhelmed.

So good! - Edit
This little gem is tucked away in an unsuspecting spot that I would never stop at if I wasn't looking for it. I was staying close to Union Square so it was a bit of a walk (45/50 minutes) but totally worth it!! The food was absolutely AMAZING! I had the corn tacos and the raw chocolate macarons which were to die for. Everything was so delicious and we will definitely be going back again while in San Francisco.

Not very exciting. - Edit
We shared lentils with plantain chips and yuca fries as appetizers. Edible but not overly exciting. For dinner we shared the lasagna and a chorizo dish. The lasagna was awful but the chorizo was good. Desserts were okay.
