Typical Croatian bakery offering several kinds of vegan bread and a few accidentally vegan pastries. Ask staff about vegan options. Open Mon-Sun 06:00-21:00.
If you’ve been vegan for long or come from an unfriendly zone where options are sparse then stumbling upon an unexpected vegan treat is a big deal. I remember many years ago giving up on the idea of tasting anymore diabeties inducing doughnuts because they all have egg or milk in them. Not so in places like Krnjak where the cheapest ingredients (margarine) are used and they are accidentally vegan! Hence there are usually four sweet puff pastries and a jam doughnut all vegan available at this bakery as well as slanac - soft bead sticks with liquid salt drizzled on - a popular Croat snack .
If unsure ask the worker one of them loves to chat in English!
