Outro Lado transcends the vegan label. It is a world-class restaurant with thoughtfully created dishes with effortlessly balanced taste, texture, and presentation.
Read moreThe true revelation: the seitan—It has skin and a layer of fat, bathing in a beefy sauce that balances the acidity of wine, mushroom, and other salty flavors.
The Francescina has a beefy tomato (ravioli style) sauce topped with a gooey cheese melt. The seitan strips, soaking up the sauce, add a meaty texture.
Picau Pahau delicately mixes acidic vinegar wine and vegetables with the meaty seitan, served with bread to soak up any leftover drops.
I have traveled the world, visiting and reviewing hundreds of vegan restaurants, in search of vegan cuisine. The number of experiences that compared to Outro Lado, I can only count on one to two hands. Well done.

Everything was amazing! I had such a lovely meal here and wish I could come back and try the whole menu. So nice to be able to try veganised versions of traditional dishes. The atmosphere and service was incredible too, so friendly and cosy. The wait time wasn't even too long for food either, I expected longer as they have a sign saying slow food. Would highly recommend to anyone and will definitely be back the next time I'm in Faro!

Read moreAs a starter we went for the croquettes. They tasted like chorizo, super delicious! However they were a bit salty.
As a main we went for the . The Francesinha and the Seitan Shank.
Francesiha: super “cheesy”, awesome cheese flavor. In my opinion the sauce was way too salty. It would have been so nice to have some vegetables or a fresh salad with it.
Seitan shank: the flavors were not that interesting sadly
For desert we had the Banoffee. AMAZING!
Overall 3,5 stars. I would go back to taste the other dishes ☺️

Omg this was the best food experience I have had en a loong time. We tried the cheese plate, the rise and "duck" and the Burger. We tried to different cheesecakes. 100% recommend, if you do not eat at this place you are missing out!!

The portion sizes are plentiful and great to share with friends. We left feeling well fed full of wholesome, home cooked food.
Discover Outro Lado if you’re in the Algarve … you won’t be disappointed! Yum!!

We started with the little ‘fishy’ green beans which were amazing, along with a garlicky mayo. Husband got Francesinha and was impressed. It was a big serving, and it was tasty , but TOO salty. Wife got the Seitan Shank, because everything else had mushrooms or tofu which she doesn’t like. It was a smallish piece of seitan (17,20€) with a stick in it on a large pile of some grains that were very mushy and again, much too salty. There were a few brown potatoes on the plate. The dish really needed something with color instead of brown potatoes. We just had high expectations.

Everything was so fresh and tasty. The stand out items for me was the cheese board, specifically the blue cheese- out of this world good! And then also the chocolate mousse and banoffee pie puddings, so delicious.

Our first night and first visit to Faro. Outro Lado is just a few minutes walk from our hotel. We booked in at 8pm and received a warm welcome. The food, drinks and service were amazing. Atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. Great choice of well cooked and beautifully presented homemade dishes. Thankfully we found Outro Lado on our first night so 3 more chances to return 👏🏼

If you want to try authentic Portuguese vegan food, I can recommend this cozy restaurant. The staff was very friendly and we had a great time there. We tried almost all the tapas dishes and were not disappointed - they did a good job converting it into vegan 🌱

Great dinner! Amazing marinated mushrooms to start, then we shared the Fish Stew and the Seitan Shank. The mousse desert was delicious - super creamy and flavorful!

We had the cheese board for starters and honestly I couldn't even look at my traditional dish as I was sooo full. But I got to take it home.
The owners wife is the chef and I can only say, compliments.
I've been in Portugal 2 weeks hunting out vegan restaurants, been here twice and would love to come again before I go home.
The atmosphere, the lighting and staff , not to mention the food all get 10/10.

Best vegan francesinha in Portugal - Edit
We have tried francesinha in different places around Portugal, Porto, Lisbon, Aveiro, some of them very good, but the Outro Lado is playing in another’s level. Of course the other dishes was delicious as well.
