Great Takoyaki! - Edit
We are vegan and allergic to gluten. Until now, there were no vegan takoyaki around Namba and Shinsaibashi stations. We had given up on trying the local cuisine, but we have found the one and only takoyaki.
Read moreIt was wonderful. We ordered the takoyaki plate and the 1500 yen kushikatsu, both of which are vegan and gluten-free. The takoyaki is made with soybeans instead of wheat flour, so it is very healthy and hearty. Drinks are only 200 yen and you can make your own. My friend was pleased with the wide variety of scotch and bourbon. Gluten free beer is also available for 200 yen. Highly recommended.
Pros: affordable, All Vegan Menu Also suitable for gluten-free, Cool Place

Amazing!!! - Edit
Delicious food, an amazingly decorated place, good vibes, fun, a happy experience!! Definitely a must! They have two traditional dishes from Osaka that you can try here. The place is super inclusive for glutenfree as well. I brought 12 non vegan friends here and we had an amazing time, after eating in one of the many interesting rooms, we went to the rooftop to enjoy an extra drink. Everyone loved it! The owner was kind, energetic and a very good cook! Making your own drinks is also very fun.

MUST GO! - Edit
This was one of the highlights of my time in Osaka. The restaurant is run by one woman and she is incredible. She is friendly, kind, and fun. The environment is very quirky and the food was good! The vegan okonomiyaki was customizable and came in a very big portion. I also enjoyed chilled tofu and edamame. You can also make your own drinks for 200 yen! You have to go.

Delicious fried but healthy conscious food - Edit
The restaurant ambiance is so fun and the food is delicious! They recently moved to a bigger location where the sister restaurant was at.
Read moreThe biggest surprise hit for me was the fries. Something about how crispy and soft they were left a big impression, but not bigger than all of the takoyaji we had.

Cheap and fun - Edit
Was surprised it was so quiet at 7 pm. The food is cheap, what is in the picture is like 1300 yen for food and 200 yen for a drink you can make yourself. I enjoyed the food. It was tasty and good portions. Fully vegan and gluten-free. The owner is kind as well and speaks English well. In the old spot where oko fun okonomiyaki used to be. When I am back in Osaka, I will be sure to visit again

Whenever I come to Osaka, it is tradition to visit Shiho. The shop moved in the past few months since I last visited. It has again taken over where OKO Okonomiyaki used to be. So it went from a small space to a building with multiple floors. So it is much easier to get a spot now. The rest is still the same. Tasty vegan takoyaki, good kushikatsu and Shiho still always greets you with a smile. The price has gone up a little bit but 2200 yen for a set of takoyaki and kushikatsu is still a good deal

Vegan takoyaki - Edit
It is a place to try a vegan version of Osaka specialty. I had takoyaki together with skewers, soup and salad so it was a plenty of food for a really moderate price. The lady that run the business is really nice. I had my meal to go, since I had mixed feelings about the place, for me it was to hippy and seemed unclean. Still the place is recommendable to check.

Nice to have vegan takoyaki! - Edit
The wait was long even arriving at opening (probably around the 5th-7th in line), we got it to-go and it was good! I went in May 2024. The only part that makes me hesitant to go back is we had to wait on the staircase for 30 minutes after a long day of travel. It's worth it if you really want vegan takoyaki! The service was good and not too long of a wait once we ordered.

Awesome Vibes - Edit
At OKO Takoyaki we tried the delicious takoyaki and kushikatsu. The whole place had awesome vibes! Just be prepared for a bit of a wait since it's a one-person operation, but it's absolutely a must-try spot in Osaka.

Authentic osaka junk food! - Edit
If you crave junk, come here!!
Read moreThe takoyaki here are very unique.
They don’t have a filling like usual takoyaki. The dough is a mix of several vegetables. You can choose toppings and sauce. The kushikatsu were also good.
Very hip berlin like atmosphere! 😎
One lady was running the place alone so it took a while, but it's worth it.

Cannot judge the taste of takoyaki - Edit
Never had traditional takoyaki so I don’t know how they’re supposed to taste like. The ones I tried here were a bit blunt, but super soft and generally nice. Just did

Not worth the wait - Edit
Takoyaki is by definition not vegan so it’s hard for me to know what a Osakan street food takoyaki should taste like.
Read moreWhat I know is that when we make it at home, it tastes much better.
We had to queue for 30 minutes just to order and then wait another 15 minutes to receive what is some basic street food which is awfully long. I appreciate there’s just one woman working there but I was expecting the food to taste much nicer (even if street food is not very high quality). I don’t know if the fact that it’s also gluten free contributed to the not great taste.
It also contained some hard kinda burnt out bits which I don’t think we’re supposed to be in there.

Great vegan option right in the heart of Dontonbori! Accidentally stumbled upon this place and couldn’t be more impressed! We did wait a while but there was only one person working and was 100% worth the wait.

Fun spot and decent food - Edit
The restaurant itself is quite the site to see! We ordered the takoyaki and kushisatsu set meal. The miso and cabbage were really good and the mushroom kushikatsu was really good (it was a mix of different veggies). Takoyaki was fine - very soft and not super flavourful.
