Wish I could give 5 stars - Edit
Visited Sept 2025. They have a clearly labelled vegan option which was delicious, along with shaved ice options. The staff and hosts were fabulous, make their time to get to know and interact with their guests. They even made me a Pikachu which I’ll forever cherish ❤️ thank you again for having us, a place we’ll never forget

Tasty Vegan Udon - Edit
They have a clearly labelled “vegetarian” option with “no fish or meat” which is vegan. When we ordered, we were asked whether we are vegan so they definitely knew about this.

Ramen vegano - Edit

Yummy udon noodles w/ dipping sauce - Edit
Only 1 item listed as vegetarian/vegan but hit the spot for me! Staff were so sweet, commented on my coloured hair and made me a paper crane as a souvenir ^ ^

Beautiful place - Edit
I visited Ogura Cha-Ya when I was in Arashiyama last year. This place is absolutely beautiful, located in a bamboo forest, with a gorgeous garden and traditional interior 😍 I don't speak Japanese but managed to ask the kind lady for a vegan meal and received this cold udon with dipping sauce. I think they customized it for me. It was very yummy and eating in a place like this was such a magical experience!

Solid Soup - Edit
Staff was very friendly and speaks english. Vegan soup was labeled as "vegetarian", staff assured that the soup is made without animal products.
Read moreSoup was a little bit light in flavour, so don't expect too much. But a solid choice, so when you are nearby, in Arashiyama, and hungry you can go for it.
Pros: Staff was very friendly, Solid Soup, Location
Cons: Light taste
