Delicious Vegan Vietnamese at Non Viet, Glasgow - Edit
We popped into Non Viet on Dumbarton Road last night as a group of seven and it turned out to be an absolute gem. This fully vegan Vietnamese restaurant is still relatively new, only a couple of years old, but it’s already serving up delicious food in a warm and welcoming setting.
Read moreThe interior was lovely, clean and thoughtfully decorated. Traditional Vietnamese hats had been turned into light fixtures and a couple of bicycles were mounted on the wall, adding a quirky and authentic touch. It felt cosy and inviting, just the kind of place you’d want to spend an evening with friends.
The staff were absolutely lovely, so friendly, smiling and welcoming from the moment we stepped in, which really added to the experience. It’s always such a bonus when the service matches the quality of the food.
The menu outside was clear and easy to follow, though one important note, it’s cash only, which we hadn’t realised. Thankfully, there’s a cash machine just across the road so it wasn’t a big deal.
I shared number 7, the sharer platter, with my friend and it was a brilliant way to sample lots of different starters. Everything was fresh, flavourful and beautifully presented. For my main I went with number 17, the special fried rice which was wrapped in a banana leaf and packed with tofu, vegetables and lotus seeds. It was absolutely delicious, smoky, fresh and full of flavour, with a lovely homemade soy sauce and salad on the side.
It wasn’t very busy when we visited but it really deserves more attention. If you’re in Glasgow and fancy fresh, flavour-packed vegan food in a chilled and beautifully decorated space, Non Viet is a fantastic spot. We’ll definitely be back.
Pros: Friendly and Attentive Service, Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere, Delicious and Flavorful Vegan Food

Decent food in the westend - Edit
Came here for lunch and ordered a few items to share. Unfortunately they were out of regular rice so we opted for the violet rice which was actually very nice. Favourite was the Ha long cakes, which I didn't think would be my favourite but would definitely recommend them. We got the carmelised tofu and green banana but I found the sauce to be a little salty, so would have preferred it a bit more subtle. Really enjoyed the strawberry milkshake and sadly was too full for dessert! Would be a bonus if they accepted card, however there is an ATM just across the street to take cash out.

Have been here many times now and always great food and service. Strongly recommend the summer rolls and the presidential bun cha, and all the desserts are fab.

Racist waiter - Edit
Waiter made me pay for my food before he could put my order through. He didn’t do this with any of the other tables in the restaurant. I even asked the lady next to me who frequents the restaurant and she said she’s never seen them do that. I’ve even been before and the waitress last time didn’t make me do this. I asked the waiter and he couldn’t give me an explanation, but refused to put the order through before I paid first. Will absolutely never go back. They don’t even accept cards. #Veganuary

Very tasty - Edit
Nice atmosphere. It is nice to be in a place that does not have the music violating my eardrums. The menu was not huge which was also nice. We ordered spring rolls, pho and tofu coconut curry with rice. I also got a homemade lemonade.
Read moreThe spring rolls were probably the best spring rolls I have ever had. They were so delicious. The pho and curry were also very tasty. The portions were good sized as well. We left very full. The homemade lemonade was also probably one of the best. It seemed to have been made with a lemon syrup, which was great. Less soda-y, more lemon-y.
Recommended. Also, the staff made sure we knew it was cash only before we ordered.

Helpful service and filling, delicious food - Edit
Very tasty mains, the deep fried ice cream dessert was very filling, maybe too much for my taste but something to try once 😂 the mango spring rolls sauce was slightly bitter but also something different and worth trying (probably best to share 1 dessert between 2)

My Presidential Bun Cha was absolutely superb! Fried ice cream for a dessert didn't convince me that much. Definitely want to visit to try more options.

🍚🍛☺ - Edit
I went here for dinner yesterday with my friend . Friendly staff, chill ambience and delicious food. Just that I felt the food was quite expensive. Some dishes came without rice, so if you were to add rice, it would come to almost £20, which to me, feels like a lot.

Great food, disappointing service - Edit
My friend and I stopped by this little Vietnamese place on our way home from doing touristy stuff. The restaurant is unassuming and cosy, and the food was really great - I had the spicy noodle soup and my friend opted to go straight for the dessert (fried ice cream), and we also had their signature cocktail. Sadly, the service disappointed; we noticed that there was no toilet roll and soap in one of the toilets and informed one of the team members, but nothing was done about it for ages while said team member was just standing behind the (empty) bar. It took another team member to address the issue. This could be a great place with a bit of effort.
Read moreAlso, worth noting that the place is cash only, and it's pretty expensive for the area.

finally got round to eating here and worth the wait ! had the summer rolls to start and then the pho noodle soup and the green banana with tofu and rice. very filling and great flavours but place is cash only and slightly on the pricey side - hence the lack of 5 stars.

Tasty and fresh - Edit
As others have said, when you look at the menu the prices are surprisingly expensive! I'd wanted to try a few things but the cost was prohibitive - a starter for one for over £11 was too much. Got the spring rolls (cheapest starter at £9) and the pho (£15). Getting a curry plus rice would have been over £18. Portion sizes were good, great presentation, fast service, and fresh, interesting ingredients. I would go back with someone else to share a few things to try more, but won't be popping back solo again. Also, it's cash only - there's an ATM just across the road.

Great food but… - Edit
Discussing prices can be uncomfortable, but living in Edinburgh, I found the restaurant a bit pricey. The £11 starter, featuring salt & pepper tofu with silken tofu, fried chillies, and spring onion, was delicious but felt steep. The Pho, priced at £15, had two types of tofu and mushrooms was good but lacked a bit of seasoning. I skipped other mains due to the expected £18 cost with rice. Additionally, there are staffing issues that require attention.

I’m really into Vietnamese food rn. I find the broths are always delicate so you can add your own seasoning, which suits me because I like to go steady on it.

Hu Julia, sorry I don't. I'm sure you can ask to make without but if it's a bad allergy I would have thought cross-contamination would be hard to guarantee. I did take a look at the menu it does not say nuts, other dishes highlight "contains peanuts", so your luck could be in.

Lovely - Edit
Had a lovely leisurely meal here, with the savoury fried rice and tofu wrapped in lotus leaf (I think), and friend had the tofu and green banana with violet rice. All very tasty. I enjoyed a pot of green jasmine tea. We also enjoyed the battered ice cream (?!) and the fried mango slice.

Bit pricey?
(NB in looking up their website and FB it seems they have other outlets that aren't vegan, so the menu isn't the one you'd see at this branch.)

Fragrant, delicious food - Edit
I tried Non Viet for Sunday lunch, and the place was almost empty. Service was quick and very friendly. We had the summer rolls starter, which was actually not particularly flavoursome, but the peanut sauce that accompanied it was very good.
Read moreAs a main course, I had the Ha Noi caramel and banana, described in the menu as ‘a journey full of flavours … combines elements of the sea (seagrass), earth (soy) and fire of course’, with jasmine rice. The caramel and banana dish was amazing: I don’t really know what I was eating – the main ingredient seemed to be chunks of some kind of tofu or seitan but with nori on one side – but it was absolutely delicious, and quite filling.
For sure, the food is expensive, especially the starters, but for some really unusual flavours it is definitely worth it, and of course it is all vegan. I look forward to going back there and trying more of the menu!
Pros: Delicious, unusual flavours, Fairly extensive menu, Quick, friendly service
Cons: Expensive, especially the starters

The fried spring rolls were really good. The fried rice was decent but needed more seasoning because it was a little bland.
