Excellent! - Edit
Very interesting and well prepared vegan dishes. Good option for a couple or group with mixed diets. Kale and tofu dish as well as cauliflower steak. Nice drink options and friendly service. Agree with the previous reviews that this would be nice for a date night. Planning on coming again soon!

Thank you, francofile! We know that a 4 is the highest you can give because we're not an "all-vegan" restaurant - so we appreciate it! We are so proud of our vegan and other vegetarian dishes. Tell you friends, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!! Sam

Delicious! - Edit
NaKorn is a *really* cool Thai place in downtown Evanston. The inside is very hip and artistic, and there's so much cool stuff to look at. The food was phenomenal. I had the tofu curry and kale and it was so good I wanted to lick my plate. They didn't have a large menu at all, and they maybe had 3-4 vegan options (which was a sizeable portion of their menu) but the food was soo good. My husband enjoyed his food too. We went with my mom who is not vegan and had the fish and she also loved it. This place is a bit pricey, but it IS upscale and would be a great "fancy" place for a date.

Delicious food & beautiful plating - please go all vegan! - Edit
NaKorn serves some of the most elegant vegan food I've ever eaten at a restaurant - all of their food is plated beautifully and each dish contains a variety of subtle flavors. I've tried the tofu steak (gluten-free version) and had a few bites of the cabbage medallions and the kale and tofu. The tofu steak is lovely - really crisp and the broth & veg are delicious and layered with flavors even though it may seem simple at first. The cabbage medallions were also yummy, and the kale and tofu was great but too spicy for me (although not listed as spicy on the menu). I've had the vegetarian scallops at both of my visits - super unique, I've never had anything like it! The black sticky rice pudding was also exquisite.
Read moreI was thankful for gluten-free options and having that listed on the menu - please consider adding more of those! And while I was glad to try fancy vegan food, I was disappointed that such amazing vegan food was served at a non-vegan restaurant. This restaurant offers such a unique type of vegan food that I haven't found elsewhere in the Chicago area - please consider going all vegan, or at the very least, adding more vegan options and labeling them explicitly on the menu!
Overall, love their vegan options but am disappointed that some of my favorite vegan food is served at a non-vegan restaurant - if it were all vegan, it would definitely get 5 stars.
Pros: Delicious food , Unique food options, Gluten-free options
Cons: Non-vegan restaurant, Small portion sizes, Pricey

Wow, thanks so much, Amishanti, not only for coming in but also a very thoughtful review. We take great pride in our vegan and vegetarian dishes, and it's really special to us when that's noticed. You said such great things - please let us know if there's anything other than going all vegan that we can do to get that 3 up to a 4 or 5! Sam

Delightful dinner - Edit
First I have to say this place deserves a 5 start rating. The site will only allow 4 stars because it’s not strictly veg/vegan. My husband and I don’t normally dine at Thai restaurants, however, being a vegetarian I thought we’d try it out. I’m really glad we did! It’s a cozy restaurant with a super friendly staff. I ordered the lettuce medallions. I couldn’t decide between that and the tofu steak (I’m not a tofu fan but can’t wait to go back to try it!) They were fabulous and the mushroom sauce they were served in is so yummy. Our server, Tristan, was amazing and made very thoughtful recommendations. My husband had the short ribs and thoroughly enjoyed it. My desert was amazing. Black sticky rice. I’ve had sticky rice but never black sticky rice! The chocolate mouse my husband was very different then what we’re used to. It’s taste was so light and smooth. We’ll be back soon and we’re bringing friends.

Can't Wait To Try! - Edit
Just read the menu for this new restaurant in the north area of Chicago and it looks spectacular! The owners are authentically from Thailand and produce an amazing menu that reflects TRUE thai cuisine ... not the Americanized version of it. Looks like a great new gem in the city. This dish sounds terrific! Tofu Steak,

Sam, we'd love to give you 5 stars but Happy Cow won't let us because NaKorn is not a strictly vegan restaurant. Four is the highest we can award, unfortunately.

Delicious - Edit
The food here is really delicious, and they have several vegan options on the menu (though they are not explicitly marked as such). I had the stuffed cabbage medallions (cabbage stuffed with mushrooms and noodles in a delicious sauce with rice on the side). It was really good. My companions (mostly meat eaters, but one other vegan that ordered the same dish) were pleased too.
