We got the matcha and chocolate cakes which were so good. Just the right amount of sweet! Much of the gluten free things I’ve had in Japan were made with a lot rice flour and chewy but these weren’t. I took them to go and the employee told me they are best eaten fresh and not to freeze them. I highly recommend!

Finding vegan desserts in Japan can be a challenge beyond daifukus, so it was great to discover this place. The cakes were tasty and satisfying but not mind-blowingy Definitely a nice treat for anyone craving something sweet and vegan.

Big selection of cakes and ice cream sandwiches. We took the “Raisin Butter” and “Uji Matcha & Black Soy Bean” ice cream cookie sandwiches and the tofu chocolate cake.

To drink we got the Housemade Lemon Squash which was a very sweet and tangy delight to cool off from the heat.
The cakes might appear quite pricey, but recall that they come with a drink!

The place was quiet, ventilated, and clean, staff was also really friendly!

Fluffy and Moist Chocolate Cake - Edit
We only had the chocolate cake here but it was great. One of the better vegan cakes I’ve had in Japan. The smooth, fluffy and moist texture was a pleasant surprise and I’d highly recommend coming here.

The tofu chocolate cake was the best dessert I’ve had while in Japan. This was a great place to come and escape the heat after visiting the nearby Monkey Park. We enjoyed the cake, apple juice, and an iced latte. All of the options looked delicious!

We had a bit of time to kill in Arashiyama while waiting for a bus, and we were excited to see an all- vegan dessert spot listed. It's just across the bridge from the main drag, which meant it was less crowded than other spots, which was good news for us.
Read moreThere was quite a bit of choice in the dessert counter - several different cakes and tarts on display, as well as butter sands promoted. One of our party chose the strawberry milk butter sand/cookie sandwich, which had a strawberry ice cream sandwiched between two buttery biscuits. She loved it, and was especially pleased with the amount of fruit in the ice cream. Another member of our group tried the lemon yoghurt cheesecake. It was really rich, but also zingy and fresh from the lemon. He loved it, except that he wished the base had been baked instead of raw. I had the chocolate tofu cake, and it was incredible! The sponge base was light, and the tofu layer was extremely rich and delicious.
For the desserts alone, we would give 5 stars. However, the drinks menu was quite limited. There were a couple of teas and some coffee, but no milky drinks (cafe latte, matcha latte, etc) or fun soft drinks. More drinks options would really elevate it.
Service was fast and friendly. We ordered at the counter and paid upfront, then the staff brought everything over when it was ready. It was quite a spacious place with big windows.
I would definitely go back!

Cute bakery 100% vegan close to the Togetsukyo bridge. They had a great selection of vegan cakes - it was a great location as the bakery was close to our hotel.
