Nothing quite so euphoric as enjoying a vegan happy meal at Mr. Charlie's located across the street from a McDonald's. I would have loved it if the food was just okay but the burger and fries were best fast food I can remember having! Super crisp flavorful fries w/ vegan aioli, sloppy delicious burger. Hooray!

Fun fast food, with delicious dips, I recommend the cilantro and jalapeño. I had the Not Cheeseburger Frowny Meal, great burger, fries, and nuggets. Their selection of drinks was good, too.

Was very curious about this place as had heard great things about them. Decor is cute.. packaging is super cute but not practical when a bunch of ppl are sharing. I had the not chicken sandwich and fries. Unfortunately tots are only available till 4. The sandwich was good but not awesome. The fries turned soggy and cold very quickly. I think it might be to do with packaging. I hope they come up with more menu items.

The chicken nuggets were so bad we couldn’t even choke down a bite. I can’t speak to the burgers but the nuggets were a huge waste of money as we threw them all out after spitting out a bite.

Charlie Cracked the Code! - Edit
I had NO clue Mr Charlie made it's way to San Francisco. I've known about it for a couple years, seen it floating around the interweb. So I stumbled on it during a day in the City but it was closed at the time. So today, had the opportunity to give it a go.
Read moreLet me start off, Charlie cracked the code! Charlie must have been a former McD cook and reverse engineered the recipe. Lol I order mostly everything on the menu.
First the nuggets, I'm sure most HappyCow user who use to eat meat GREW UP on McD nuggets w/ sweet & sour or BBQ. I did w/ the S&S sauce. Taste was SPOT ON. Activated pure nostalgia eating those little nuggs. But like most Plantbased "meats" there is a bit "aftertaste." Not as prevalent like Beyond or Impossible but slightly. But SMACKIN' nonetheless. 10/10
Second, the chicken sando. Nostalgia activated. My BROKE college self survived on McD chicken sando when they WERE $1. The mayo, lettuce, bun, and basically a BIG chicken nugget. Charlie replicated to the T. 10/10
McD famous golden arches fries. Now Charlie's fries weren't totally identical but for not using beef flavoring like McD, they were pretty dang close. 8/10
Lastly, Charlie's double cheeseburger. This one is one I didn't get any thrills out of. Constructed like McD cheese burger: ketchup, mustard, onions, pickles, and cheese. "Aftertaste" was prevalent with this one. Plus, it's something I can make myself. 6.5/10
Overall, I give Mr Charlie 5/5 stars, purely based on nostalgia. Now, if they dropped the menu price $1, FOR SURE 6/5 stars. Lol #Veganuary

So good I came by twice to try the main burger option and breakfast. If you’re after vegan junk food, this is the place (don’t expect anything healthy). I tried the cheeseburger meal. It came with nuggets (the most realistic I’ve tasted, though it’s been a long time), delicious greasy burger, fries and coke in a glass bottle (somehow it tastes better). I also tried the sausage, cheese and egg muffin the next day, which came with a little orange juice carton and tater tots (hash bites). Everything tasted amazing. Highly recommend for junk food lovers #Veganuary

Group of three: vegan SO, regular diet friend, mostly veg me. We tried the cheeseburger and a simple hamburger and they all were just like mcdonalds - but better. Tastier sauce in the burgers and the french fries were simply the best I have ever had at a fast food place.

I ordered the Not a Chicken Sandwich Frowny Face meal with green sauce (really herby and yummy) and Big Chuck (tastes like a secret). It was very reminiscent of McDonald's (or at least how I remember it from 20 years ago), although I think Mr. Charlie's fries were better.

A Vegan Paradise at Mr. Charlie’s: Unbelievable Flavors Just Across from the Golden Arches - Edit
I had the most incredible experience at Mr. Charlie’s! This unique concept, located right across from the famous golden arches, completely blew me away. With a menu that’s 100% vegan and a striking resemblance to the classics, the taste is unbelievably good. The “chicken” nuggets are so convincing, and the double burger is genuinely the best I’ve ever had. The drinks are fantastic too.

Double Arches Doppelgänger - Edit
I’ve had Mr. Charlie’s a handful of times now. If you enjoyed the double arches and want a sense of nostalgia, this is your spot. The most spot on replicas is the nuggets and fries. The “chicken” sandwich is really great too. Trying their “Big M**” burger and the breakfast is on my to do list. Overall, their aesthetic and appeal hits the mark. I don’t really do burgers from take out spots, but if I do - I go here.

I had the Big Mac dupe and it was really good! Love the concept and funnily it’s just over the road from an actual McDonald’s. Love the cows in the window too!
Just wish there was more seating as I had to leave to eat it and there’s no benches or parks nearby!
