Delicious - Edit
My husband and I visited here after several disappointing meals (where I ended up with pork and fish in my food). We were lucky to get seated downstairs (but I believe there were more seats upstairs), and were sat at a counter to eat. My husband was happy as they had meat options for him. We got served quickly, but food took a little while (by Japanese standards), which, I assume was because of my meal. No problem, though. When it was arrived it was delicious.. And you even for a free paper bib so that you didn't spill curry noodles on yourself!

Best udon EVER! - Edit
Literally, I am so sad I can’t eat this everyday, it was so good. We went twice during our 4 day stay - I got the kitsune udon, no curry (damn genetics make me hate cilantro), and my wife got the kitsune curry udon. Everything is accidentally vegan, and so awesome!

Great Udon! - Edit
Separate vegan menu with a few choices. The soy nuggets were amazing and so was the curry broth. Also loved the tempura on top. Definitely worth a visit and pretty close to Chion-in, Shoren-in, and Maruyama Park if you are out sightseeing. We also bought some of their spices to take home.

Vegetarian ramen - Edit
We visited three times during our six days in Kyoto. Right next to the beautiful and traditional Gion area, Mimikou has two pages of veg options. The tofu curry udon ramen with veg tempura is rich and delicious, especially with a side order of fried aubergine. There is also the option to choose the thickness of the noodles and the spice of the curry.

Restraunt next to Yasaka Shrine - Edit
Ordered the Kitsune Curry Donburi (priced at 1111 yen, as on date) Very flavorful, was served with some pickled fruits and seaweed-sweet onion soup. Very generous serving size too. Staff was quite friendly and came with an English sign at 8PM to say that the last order was being taken.

Great spot for lunch! - Edit
I recommend the classic Kyoto curry udon with fried eggplant, tempura, soy nuggets and katsune / rice and vegetable curry bowl with lotus root, tempura and soy nuggets. There are so many more options as well! All their broth is made with kelp instead of fish, which makes it 100% vegan

Traditional curry udon! - Edit
Delicious, hot, thick udon noodles with a curry broth. Fast service and upstairs seating has a view of the busy street. Within walking distance of Kiyomizu-dera. Quite a big selection of veg options along with soy nuggets. The spices offered are also excellent! Very English-friendly.

The vegan udon was ok, my wife eats meat and she didn't like the curry she had, very goopy (our first udon so not sure if this is just how its done).

Inquire further than veggie menu - Edit
In order to get dashi-free options, you must tell the waiter you can’t eat dashi, meat, fish, etc. The veggie menu comes with dashi if you don’t clarify gluten-free I believe. I had the udon and it was decent.
