Had a really nice dinner at Mercy Vegan Factory. Knowing my big appetite, I ordered the gimbap, a miso soup, a side of 5pcs of kurumafu, a tea and a little panna cotta for desert. Everything was really delicious and it all hit the spot 🙌🏼 It was a bit on the expensive side but I’m happy to support fully vegan places and the food was truly tasty. Still dreaming about the gimbap 😮💨

The food was great! As a vegan, I was thrilled to have a selection of vegan desserts which are hard to come by in Japan. I enjoyed the sweet and sour cauliflower (~1200 yen) and the strawberry sponge cake (~1200 yen). However, it is a quite expensive for rather small portion sizes. You will probably need to order more than one dish to satisfy your hunger.

I only tried the desserts, and for that alone, I highly recommend this place. We had the sweet potato pudding and strawberry sponge cake. The sweet potato pudding reminded me of eating "flan" or a custard. The strawberry sponge cake was so light and delicious...it was like eating a bed of clouds. I recommend both, but the strawberry sponge cake was my favorite.

Read moreThe egg sandwich is.. not that great. I'm not sure why many rave about it. Maybe they are non vegans? You can easily make just as good, if not better egg sandwich with silken and firm tofu mix, kala namak (etc) at home. And the bread was a bit firm for this classic Japanese sandwich.
On the bright side, for as highly regarded as this place is, it was nearly empty when I went for dinner! No wait, nothing! and the staff were all wonderfully kind.
Pros: Delicious kimbap, not crowded, small takeaway treats!
Cons: bit pricey, most lauded item is not that good

When I visited Japan, Mercy Vegan Factory was one of the few vegan spots that I visited more than once. It’s located in a convenient part of the city and is easy to locate. The food was very good and there was a wide variety of dishes. I tried the gimbap and the curry. I highly recommend the vegan cakes, they were very good. Definitely a place to visit if you’re in the city. The people who work there are super lovely. #Veganuary

Really enjoyed eating here for lunch. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic. Would recommend the vegetable curry as it was flavourful and had a variety of different veggies. The caramel banana dessert was also great. The location is nice with some stunning temples to look at on your way there.

We came here 2 years ago and definitely wanted to come back again! So here we are again for brunch, and the food is just as delicious as we remembered. Staff are very friendly and the vibe is chill with soft jazz music playing. Fully vegan which is a massive bonus! Recommend the egg sandwich, very yummy. One guy here is particularly awesome (he might be the owner, not sure?), and gave us a bunch of complementary coffee bags to take home, which we enjoyed once we got back home and wishing we were still in Japan! We'll be back for a third time next time we're in Osaka 🏯
