A good vegan restaurant. Didn’t knock me off my socks but that says more about me than the restaurant

Good food - Edit
I've only been here twice, but the food was really nice both times. The service was horrible the first time, but really good the second time so this is definitely still a place I'd go back to. I'd like to see more of a variety of options here as there isn't really anything that makes them stand out.

Nice setting and atmosphere. - Edit
The burger was nice. The dessert with coffee/chocolate was too die for. Delicious. But...for me it was just 2/3 teaspoon bite. For € 9/9,50! Little too high.
Read moreThe side dish with the king oyster mushroom had no flavors at all unfortunately. Of course it’s a matter of taste. But too small. 2 bites for also 9.
The service was very nice and quick. Raised my hand 2 times. 1 for to order. 1 for the bill. In our case even though we weren’t sitting close to the bar, they saw it instantly and came to the table.
Pros: Service , Settings.
Cons: Side dish small/, Dessert small/price little too high

Best vegan lasagne - Edit
A bit late to post this but when I went last year, they had the most incredible vegan lasagne I’ve ever had. So much choice, and great options for desserts as well. Highly recommend

Best meal in Amsterdam! - Edit
Absolutely blown away by this restaurant. I came here twice while in the city, for lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is awesome, great location, lovely staff, & fairly priced.
Read moreI first had the jackfruit burger, followed by a caesar salad, both of which were exceptional! The restaurant also has delicious cocktails and desserts. I dined with a few non-vegan relatives for dinner and all were very impressed and pleased with their meals. ☺️
Pros: Great menu, Fair price, Favourable location
Cons: None!

I litteraly fell in love with this place! All the dishes we tried were original, delicate and tasty. The atmosphere was pleasant. It is a little bit expensive but according to me is is worth it.

My kind of district! - Edit
First things first. Most restaurants are located in city centres. And the Amsterdam city centre is known to be one of the worst to park a car. Parking space is difficult to find, and when found prices are ridiculous. Yet, sometimes cars are preferable over public transportation. So we searched for a restaurant that had a carpark nearby. After a lot of work we decided on the Meatless District, parking the car at “De Hallen” (600 metres away, 8 minute walk).
Read moreThe Meatless District has two restaurants in Amsterdam and both the menu and atmosphere differ. This one is more hip and happening, while the other has a more high class feeling to it.
The menu has a lot of variation, to suit every taste. Our group went for two burgers, the risotto and the chowder. The latter choice was based on another review on Happy Cow and indeed: the chowder offers a surprising mix of tofu, mushrooms and vegetables. However, the risotto was by far the most refined of all the food we ordered. The burgers were fine and in case of the “celeriac and fennel burger” highly original yet tasty. All portions were generous, leaving everyone satisfied.
Since it is so rare, we ended with the vegan creme brûlée. While sweet, it isn’t too sweet so one can enjoy the fine balance of ingredients. Very well done.
Please notice that the menu changes frequently and differs per location. Many of the dishes reviewed by other Happy Cow users are no longer available (or seasonable?). Even the menu on the Meatless District website doesn’t match the one actually at the table in the restaurant. On the plus side: we visited on a Saturday evening when all tables were fully booked, yet service was good and the food arrived within reasonable time.
The verdict: not a culinary highlight, but good vegan food at good prices. And… a carpark nearby. That’s my kind of district!
Pros: not entirely impossible to reach by car, good food, big portions, pleasant atmosphere

Excellent Cuisine - Edit
This was a fabulous meal. Really skillfully prepared and clever in its execution. Lovely energy and vibe and they serve alcohol. A lot of the places I ate in Amsterdam didn't seem to have a license to serve.

Cozy and slightly upscale all vegan restaurant. Friendly staff and food is simple (Burgers, Risotto, Salads) but tastes amazing! Definitely worth a visit when in Amsterdam!

Nice spot in Amsterdam for a different dining experience. Although the food is not super amazing in my opinion, the concept is still interesting and taste result is good. Friendly staff, good ambience overall.

Saved our evening - Edit
We actually decided that we wanted to try a plant-based pizza yesterday - but the gps and information at the restaurant we were going to eat at, did not work properly, so we stood there thinking - WHAT DO WE DO NOW?!
Read moreA few clicks Here on Happy Cow, showed us that we were quite close to another restaurant we had researched at before we left - so we hurried further down the street, since it was about getting late.
Meatless District was the place and the luck was finally with us, we reached it before the kitchen closed.
We were very well welcomed by a sweet waiter who took us to our table.
We ended up ordering “Wild Mushroom and Saffron Chowder” and “MD Caesar Salad” which we shared.
For those who do not know chowder, it’s a soup, here a mushroom soup with, among other things smoked tofu.
It was REALLY delicious!
Their Caesar Salad, was also really good, but here wasn’t the taste that surprisingly since you know how this dish taste, but definitely want to taste it again!
Very satisfied and full, we had actually decided that it was it for today, but our sweet waiter still persuaded us to try their “Passion Fruit Crème Brûlée”. However, only one for sharing.
We were very glad we did, because it tasted great!
What otherwise seemed to have been a bit of a disaster night in terms of dinner - it ended up being a super experience thanks to the Meatless District and their sweet staff.
Thank you so much for that 💚

Stunning plant-based dinner - Edit
Already had the opportunity to go to their other location in De Pijp and the dinner this time was (at least) as delicious as it was. It is amazing to see all kinds of groups there: parents with their kids, big groups, couples ... All there to enjoy delicious plant-based food.

Overall good - Edit
Overall, the food was decent. I expected a little more though considering the prices. I had the mushroom pierogi, caesar salad, and passion fruit crème brûlée. Loved the pierogi, the salad was alright but the croutons weren’t very crunchy. The crème brûlée was also good but it kind of reminded me of Alpro yoghurts lol. I would give them 3.5 stars. Staff were very friendly!

Really tasty and unique meals - Edit
I love that they don't only have the standard vegan meals that you can find in almost every vegan restaurant. Here they make something a bit more special. And oh it's soooo good! I am looking forward to coming back and trying more of their food. Also, the vibe inside is very hip but also cosy. Prices are quite normal for a nice restaurant in Amsterdam.
