Great sharing food - Edit
Update: Still good as of March 2025. The lions mane special was very small and disappointing for the price, but everything else was very good.
Read moreWe've been here quite a few times over the years and it's still great. They now offer many small dishes for sharing and their advice to have three dishes per person was good.
We had: smoked aubergine dip (the bread was fantastic), tomato lox (fantastic), king oyster scallops with caviar (good but would be better served more simply without the bacon and puree), bitterballen (decent), smashed potatoes (very good) and roasted cauliflower (wonderful, but strangely named given there's hardly any cauliflower and lots of lovely mac and cheese).
We also tried a carrot margarita and that was surprisingly well balanced and tasty.

Nice setting - Edit
Good combinations of flavours.
Read moreUpdate february 2025:
We don’t like the concept of shared dining. The number of items varies with each dish (2, 3, 4, more). Some dishes are good (oyster mushrooms skewers), some boring (mac or broccoli/punpkin). You have to order quite a lot, which makes it an expensive dinner.
Update september 2022: inconsistent. The Caesar salad was way too salt en fatty, as was the wild mushroom chowder. The pees, beans and greans risotto was bland with unpleasant king oyster scallops. We liked the cumin cheese on the cheeseplatter with Max and Bien ‘cheeses’. Our previous review was for the Van Woustraat. Different menu, different experience.
New update februari 2024: we enjoyed the starters: the purple carrot dip and chickpea sticks.
For the mains: Good mushroom dish, tasty but too salt ‘chicken’ pie, creamy roasted cauliflower and Mac and cheese, and a bit standard burgers. The Caesar salad is still too salt and fat. Too much ‘chicken’ and ‘bacon’, not enough greens. The roasted Roseval potatos were great. The fries, regular and sweet potato were really good, but for some of us too salt.
For dessert we shared a crème brulee with quite a dominant coconut flavor, we didn’t taste any chai. The great lemon poppy cake was not on the menu, but should be. The cheesecake had a too strong coconutflavor. Really friendly staff.

Still nice, but used to be better - Edit
This place is semi-chique and offers European cuisine. Please be aware that the toilet can only be reached via a small stair.
Read moreThey used to serve lunch and course-dinner, but now they only offer shared dining. The prices are quite high considering the small portions, although the food is still nice.
They offer an early-bird discount on food when you book an early dinner (starting time 17.30-18.00). I don’t know if it’s also valid for spontaneous visits, but you can ask.
I tried several items and most of them were good and some were only allright. They have an extensive menu of alcoholic beverages and their cocktails are tasty and pretty. Check my pictures for my experiences with their foods an drinks.

Disappointing - Edit
It is rare for me to give a bad review, but unfortunately this is the case. Overpriced, small portions, well presented but not really my thing in terms of taste. Each dish was more something assembled. The service slow and not attentive. We have been left with the dirty plate of the previous dish more than 20 minutes. I left as soon that I can even not ordering the dessert.

Absolutely outstanding - Edit
I would eat in this place every day if I could. Tapas style plates with sliders, jackfruit tacos which are to die for, artichoke, broccoli miso and many many more.

Terrific menu with a lovely, diverse set of plant-forward offerings. Loved the watermelon sashimi in particular, but everything was tasty.

Really good food and service - Edit
Really didn't know what to expect but I liked it a lot. I was surprised by how good the food was! I tried the tomato lox, gochujang cauliflower, jackfruit tacos, celeriac, and oyster mushroom skewers. Staff was also very friendly and quick. I liked that the food came when it was ready, as it's much more efficient than bringing it all at the same time. At first I thought I'd have to order more as some of the portions seem quite small, but I actually overate even though I have quite a bit appetite.

Sitio chulo - Edit
Me gustó bastante el sitio, amplio y estéticamente está chulo, y me atendieron sin problema incluso llegando poco antes de cerrar la cocina (la costumbre de horarios en España, sorry jeje). Me pedí un par de miniburgers y estaban riquísimas.

Nice and fancy restaurant - Edit
We went there two days in a row. The cauliflower was very delicious. The burger was fine, but actually not as good as the burgers of the other vegan burger places in Amsterdam. The chocolate cake was a dream, 5 stars for the desserts!

Great decor and amazing food - Edit
First of all: I am autistic, and are quite noise sensitive. Unfortunately, many places (also vegan places) have bad acoustic, loud music and noise in general. That often make my experience not so great, when a blender or a coffee machine turns on and off, loud pop music are playing ind the background, or that a bad acoustic does that I can't have a proper conversation with the people at my table, because I can hear all the background noise.
Read moreBut Meatless District not only have a nice and cosy decor; they also have an great acoustic. Even when the restaurant was almost full, I wasn't bothered of all the people talking. I could hear other people, yes. But I could easily have a conversation with my friends, without exert myself
And even the lightning is perfect. No spotlight or fluorescent tube, but nice, warm light.
And not the least: the food is great. I had the faux gras for starter, the roasted cauliflower mac and cheese for main, and the chocolate cappuccino mousse for dessert. All dishes very great, and the menu had some other really interesting offers too.
My friend who had the bourguignon was not that satisfied with that dish, but think that the other dishes was great.
So my final verdict: not only are this Meatless District autism friendly, and a great place for people who are noise sensitive in general. But it is also a great place to get a great vegan meal, and to show your meatloving friends, that you neither need meat, egg nor dairy to get a great meal.
Pros: Autism friendly, Great food
