Great avo toast - Edit
Nice selection of bakery items. Two (and half) vegan options on the cooked menu. The avocado toast is no lie the best I’ve ever had. Made to order with fresh avocado. Got mine with cucumber dill

Cute place with really good food! - Edit
I only have good things to say. I love their sausage and egg biscuit. So good! I’ve tried different seasonal lattes and they were all fantastic. The pastries are phenomenal! I am so excited for what this place will grow to!

Totally disappointed - Edit
Two telephone numbers. One is disconnected and the other just rings. We were trying to verify vegan options before driving 20 minutes to it. Get there before 4 and kitchen is closed even though open to five. These are things that should be clearly listed and employee acknowledged telephone number issue but didn’t seem too concern to get it corrected which is really easy to do.

Tasty vegan treats - Edit
Was surprised by the variety and quality of vegan treats, labeled "ve". The blueberry scone was too moist but the rest were great (I got them all, maybe six total). The sweet potato burrito was quite good too, though a tad pricey for me (I'm cheap).

Lovely coffee shop with many vegan options - Edit
I love Foundation Grounds and stop by here at least once/month. Excellent coffee, and good food too. They have almond and soy milk for lattes, and you can request either for hot coffee in place of creamer. On their food menu, they have a vegan tempeh salad sandwich that is delicious, and a really tasty hummus sandwich that can be made vegan by omitting the cheese. On Saturday mornings they offer vegan quiche until they run out (tofu-based). The bakery case always has a few vegan options, typically scones, muffins, and a dessert. Most staff there are friendly and helpful. If you're in Maplewood and need coffee or a snack, it's definitely worth a stop.

Small Veg Menu, but Tasty Food - Edit
Foundation Grounds is a coffee shop and cafe. The menu is not large, the main vegan options offered on a daily basis are a vegan tempeh salad sandwich (which is delicious), the goddess hummus/veggie sandwich (vegan w/o feta), and salads (which you can add a scoop of tempeh salad to). They often have other vegan items that change from day to day, such as vegan quiche and soups. There is a fairly large selection of baked goods, always with several vegan options, such as choc. pb bars, molasses cookies, pumpkin muffins, etc. FG is located in downtown Maplewood, a nice community surrounded by small shops.

Great Food - Edit
We come to St. Louis a lot but always have such a hard time finding vegan breakfast. I saw Foundation Grounds on here and called and asked if they had vegan options for breakfast before we went. The vegan tofu scramble burrito was delicious as was the vegan strawberry coffee cake. The coffee was great, atmosphere was great, and nice people too. Glad to finally find a place to eat breakfast in the city.

Hoping for Better - Edit
Foundation Grounds serves tasty salads. Clearly caters to a specific audience and enjoys a devoted clientele. Unfortunately it serves instant refined oatmeal instead of old fashioned, or steelcut, or pinhead, or Irish oatmeal. Of those mentioned, only the old fashioned style can be cooked quickly, that is within 2-5 minutes. It is as easily cooked as instant, and can be served hot. I ordered the instant, requesting only 1/2 the water suggested by the directions on the bag. My request was ignored. I received a watery, lukewarm serving.
Read moreI also purchased a soy latte that was not served hot. The porcelain large cup was a nice touch, however.
For 7a.m. the music was much too loud, making it difficult to enjoy quiet conversation.
Pros: locally owned, serves vegan dishes, small
Cons: serves instant oatmeal, loud music

Nice coffee shop with decent vegan options. - Edit
Foundations Grounds is a wonderful addition to the Maplewood neighborhood in St. Louis, MO. I liked the set up of the place, it was very well decorated, and all of the staff members were very friendly. There were plenty of vegan items to choose from, all made in house, such as the oreo cookie cupcake, some other vegan cupcakes, pumpkin muffin, some other vegan muffins, vegan soups/salads, and some vegan sandwiches. The food I got was good and I will surely be back here during my next visit.
