We visited the Grey Lynn branch of Maison de Lys in March 2025 having visited their Mount Eden branch (which doesn't seem to be listed on Happy Cow) the day before. We tried a strawberry tart and a cream doughnut finger at the Grey Lynn branch and both were absolutely delicious, probably some of the best cakes we've had. 100% recommend.

I highly recommend this patisserie! There were so many delicious options that I bought 4x things to try. Caters for both sweet and savoury options, plus good coffee. Staff were vegan themselves and very lovely.

The ham & cheese croissant and strawberry cream croissant were probably my favourites, but we didn't try everything! The pastry was flaky and the ingredients tasty. Can not fault.
The lattes were on the small side, but tasted nice.
Highly recommend Maison des Lys if you're passing through Grey Lynn.

I tried some pain au chocolate, mini croissant, Nutella croissant, the raspberry doughnut, and the hot dog croissant. The idea might turn some faces, but the hot dog croissant tasted very good, just as good as everything else. Too bad they don't offer coffee or even tea, but great food.

- Strawberry cream croissant: crispy, flaky, SO GOOD, great strawberries and cream
- Cheese garlic twists: DELICIOUS, crispy, flaky
- Salted caramel chocolate: DELICIOUS, chewy caramel peanut type base, very CRISPY pastry case, just absolute perfection, didn't taste of salted caramel luckily for me, chocolate cream tasted like dark chocolate, not too sweet
- Mille Feuille: delicious crispy layers, nice cream, ok custard, perfect level sweetness
- Cinnamon roll: delicious, soft, not too doughy, not too sweet, perfect
- Ham cheese lettuce croissant: DELICIOUS
- Raisin pastry swirl: airy, VERY good
- Pain au chocolat: crispy, flaky, great darkish chocolate
- Plain croissant: very good, crispy, no strong oily aftertaste, could be more layers I guess
- Almond croissant: crispy, not too sweet
- Chocolate cookie: delicious, chewy, not too sweet
- Raspberry danish: flaky, crunchy, very good, thick custard/cream was very good
- Lemon meringue: very crispy thin pastry case, nice tart lemon, thick marshmallow texture (but not much taste)
- Strawberry tart: nice, ok custard, crispy pastry
- Raspberry danish/cruffin type thing: yumm, cream filled
- Eggplant semi dried tomato brioche: very soft, doughy, relish/sauerkraut filling
- Sausage croissant: ok
Pros: huge range of delicious pastries, so fresh, crispy, and not overly sweet, ham cheese lettuce croissant
Cons: would love more seating, would love it to be more open more days

Auckland have other vegan/vegan option pastry places, but once you give these guys a try, you will never go back. You can clearly taste the quality difference and the owners take utmost pride in producing the highest possible pastry. I am very happy these guys are doing very well and they truly deserve it!

Drove out 30mins just to try out this place. Was surprised to see it located just a couple stores away from Tart, another vegan bakery. I brought the (non-vegan) family with me, and we bought a few stuff from both places.

I bought 4 things for myself, and kids ate 3 of them (after eating their own food) and only left the last thing (a vegan savory pastry with mince, cheese, and some sort of hot sauce) because I told them they had to at least leave me something. This place is amazing.
Pros: All vegan. , Pastries are crispy and flaky and buttery amazing, Everything.
Cons: Only open Fri-Sun from morning to noon-ish.
