Good meal - Edit
A cosy place with good food and friendly staff.
Read moreThey have a separate menu with vegan and, sadly, vegetarian options. Some of the counterparts have the same name so make sure you order from the right column.
I had the vegan fry, which was tasty and filling.
They ran out of mushrooms so I got an extra hash brown (not pictured).

Fantastic vegan breakfast - Edit
The vegan options at Maggie Mays are clearly marked and there’s a really good variety for all times of the day - I was really impressed with the breakfast menu and though I got the vegan fry, I’m looking forward to going back and getting other things next time I’m in Belfast! It isn’t a place that has one vegan option just to say they have - it’s actually a really good menu where you can decide what you’re in the mood for.
Read moreThe vegan fry was really good and included a good range of items (vegan sausages, scrambled tofu, beans, grilled mushrooms and tomato, has browns and potato cakes). It’s super filling and I was set up for the day!
Staff were friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere inside is casual and relaxed.
Pros: Good prices, Range of vegan options, Clear labelling

Cafe style food with many vegan options - Edit
Cafe style setting ideal for brunch/lunch. Separate vegan menu with good selection. The vegan fry was huge and very tasty, also went back and had breakfast wrap which was also lovely. Quick and friendly service and great value for money

Awesome! - Edit
Absolute must visit! We have been here several days in a row because it was close to our hotel (and one of our party was not able to walk long distances). It had a very large veggie/vegan menu with even for vegans loads of options. I had (on different visits) the vegan cinnamon and vegan Biscoff Babe milkshake (with soy milk), vegan fry breakfast, the vegan belfast bap (soft white bun!) the wrap with vegan bites and avocado (quite spicy because of the chili sauce) and the vegan taco chips (main course). All where awesome and must try!
Read moreAlso the staff is very friendly, the place is nice to sit and not expensive! Would definitely give 5 stars if that was possible.
Pros: Great food, Loads of vegan options, Good prices

The vegan options were delicious, me and my partner got the vegan fry up early in the morning and it was very filling. Came with potato cakes. The vibe is also really nice. Was packed.

Comfort food - Edit
The vegan wrap and chilli were tasty but nothing spectacular! The chilli wasn’t very spicy. Proper chips which were very good. We would try the breakfast next time as this looked good!

Lovely breakfast in Belfast - Edit
We arrived early into Belfast and needed a vegan breakfast. My gf and I had a vegan fried breakfast and a vegan breakfast burrito between us. Food was great and filling and just what we needed. The staff were accommodating and left the burrito’s mushrooms on the side when asked. Would definitely recommend and will likely return for an evening meal whilst in NI.

BEST spot in Belfast, Ireland - Edit
They have vegan and vegetarian options and they ask which menu you want when you walk in. My ship docked here every 12 days and sometimes I would go for breakfast and then go back for lunch. The food and service was always great. It’s 5 ⭐️s for me!

Good option for a group of mixed vegan and non-vegans - Edit
During my stay in Belfast I visited both this venue and the one by the Botanic gardens. Staff at both venues were very friendly and attentive. We visited this venue at lunch time and had about a 10 minute wait for a table. They have a separate vegan/vegetarian menu and the options are extensive. I was with 3 non-vegans and there was plenty for all of us to choose from.
Read moreI opted for the Breakfast Burrito and an ice-cream float. The vegan drink options are mind-blowing, there are so many and I wanted to try them all but as I've never been able to get a vegan ice-cream float before, I went with that and I wasn't disappointed. My mum had a vegan banana milkshake and said it was the best she'd ever had.
I highly recommend this place and I will definitely be going back.

Disappointing visit - Edit
I have ate here in the past but the latest trip was nothing g short of disappointing. We ordered vegan burgers (menu describes as soya protein), but we’re served vegetable burgers. I queried these, to be told they “may not be vegan” and our plates taken away for at least 5 minutes from our view. The exact same plates produced with the waitress saying “the box said vegan”, I attempted to describe that we wanted the vegan burgers (aka soya protein burger not the vegetable burger), but they did not seem to understand what I meant. It felt they just didn’t want to waste the food on the plate either.
Read moreWhen leaving they did knock £5 off the bill, but only because I said my meal was cold (I forced myself to eat half the vegetable burger to deal with the awkwardness of it all) and said this was likely due to our food being taken away out of view while they checked if it was vegan. The chips were also then cold.
Truly disappointing to say the least. We even planned to have desert there but after that meal, we just wanted to leave.
It’s like going to McDonalds and ordering a mcPlant, then they give you a vegetable deluxe (which sure is vegan) but it’s not what you ordered. We felt it wouldn’t have happened if we were not vegan, and I left feeling like I wasted money and that the staff did not care.
Pros: Good selection on menu , A quirky restaurant
Cons: Staff could be more attentive, Staff need to learn vegan options better, Felt unheard

Really nice + queer vibes - Edit
I had a vegan wrap and the cheesy curry fries. Both really tasty, even tough the fries were a bit spicy. Also had the hazelnut shake and it was amazing.

They were quite fast bringing the food as well. They ask you first thing if you are vegan or vegetarian and they have a separate menu with quite a lot of options.

Vegan fry! - Edit
There was a solid separate vegan menu, and I was exciting to get a vegan fry! Everything was great except the scrambled tofu, very turmeric-y, but I think scrambled egg mimicry is just not for me. I also got a piece of chocolate cake with vegan ice cream that was pretty good, but the fry plate was so good.

Filling food that is served quickly and affordably. I loved the vegan breakfast bap (so much cheese!) and we returned for a quick dinner before flight home. Such an extensive separate vegan and vegetarian menu, we both struggled to choose. Husband enjoyed pancakes and veggie breakfast.

A good feed - Edit
Finally made it to Maggie Mays. Much mentioned on the local vegan Facebook group. I was not disappointed. It reminded me of the causeway cafe food. Vegan options just feel normal. So refreshing. I had tofu scramble with brown toast and tomato and mushrooms. Nothing felt oily. Tofu was really tasty. Moderately sized portion. Followed by lashings of tea. Other half had the chilli. He opted for half and half (rice/chips). They forgot the chips and guacamole but brought them with a smile quickly when we mentioned it. The place seemed busy and there was a little queue for a table. High ceilings, open door and booths mitigated for this. The music was a bit too loud for easy chat but I quite enjoyed the music. A mixed bag of jazz, blues, RnB. Wondering if it is ‘sounds like’ music as all familiar but not recognising anything! It took all my strength not to order a vegan pudding - chocolate or carrot cake served with plant ice cream. I tasted the berry based soyashake. Very icecreamy and delicious. Apparently Maggie and May were the owners’ grannies. I will be back. There are other branches too.

Order envy - Edit
I ordered the scrambled tofu and my partner got the belfast bap. When mine arrived the bread was cold (and gluten free by the taste of it) and there wasn't much tofu to go around. The belfast bap however was hot and very tasty - wouldn't hesitate to go back for one of them but the rest I'm not so sure about.
