The food was really tasty and a bit more unusual than the usual Mexican vegan food you can find elsewhere. We had the taster menu which was good but as the place was busy we were waiting a while between courses. The restaurant itself was lovely, and the staff were friendly too.

Madre is a really attractive space, very comfortable and stylish. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive and the food is very tasty. The table made guacamole is as good as I’ve ever tasted. It loses a star because while great, it’s just too expensive. 14.50 for guacamole is a touch too far, regardless of how tasty it is.

One of my favorite vegan places in Europe - Edit
Considering the quality of the dishes I consider it very fairly priced. The tacos were filled with 3d printed fake meat (soy Seitan combo) or mushrooms and the taste and texture were so good, it reminded me of real meat well done. This is one of my top 3 vegan restaurants now!

Really amazing food, especially with the hot sauce they serve extra if you ask for it. Staff is very friendly. The restaurant looks small on the outside but it's really spacious on the inside. Ambiance is energetic and "gezellig".

Read moreI liked the cauliflower and the (vegan) pork tacos better than the aguacate and mushroom tacos, the latter were more boring. I liked the desert (vegan) brioche in tres leches, though the guava salsa flavor was too strong, it overwhelmed the brioche. The food felt legit Mexican, like Mexico rather than texmex.
After that three course meal I was still hungry. If you don't consider the prices, then it's worth visiting. And as for prices, well, Amsterdam is an expensive city. You can get a chef's choice three course meal for like €35, though we paid €45 apiece for our choices.

Ik had samen met mijn partner twee porties Beech mushroom tostados besteld die erg lekker waren, maar we hadden verwacht dat de porties wat groter zouden zijn. Later hebben we met z'n tweeën een portie Nacho mama besteld wat gelukkig qua portie wel genoeg was voor ons allebei. Als dessert hadden we allebei de Mole Rosa besteld die tevens erg lekker was. Helaas heb ik geen foto's gemaakt 🥲

Madre was really the best surprise of our stay in Amsterdam. The food is really excellent and of an impressive quality. Everything is very well done and tasty. The place is very lively and often crowded. I didn't find the noise disturbing, but it's clear that you won't have the quiet of a tête-à-tête. Everything is quite expensive but it's definitely worth the cost! The staff is very nice and attentive despite the number of tables. I will gladly go back.
