This was one of our main highlights of our time in Crete both from a food standpoint and overall experience in Matala.
Read moreBoth the owners were so lovely, they brought out an extra table to accommodate us and they explained the menu to us, even recommending that he waited till we finished the vegan platter whilst he boiled the water for the pasta in case we were too full!
We had a platter which consisted of roti wraps, an onion bharji of sorts, beetroot chips, garlic mushrooms, peppers, salad, tomato relish & side of pita pieces to dip.
One of the other customers was raving about the pasta and they even accommodated a smaller portion for us so we could try it, it was absolutely delicious!
Everything was so well priced, and the overall experience / atmosphere was lovely and relaxing, made even better by the fact their dog sat with you outside.
100% would recommend visiting, tastiest food I have had in Crete!

The place is owned by David and Michelle. Vibrant, beautiful people making this Earth a better place.
As a raw vegan the food there is limited, but the vibration and people always makes a visit to Mad Irie worth it!
I bring my VEGAN and NON-vegan friends and family here for the burrggeeeeerrrs. The patty is incredible! Glutenfree, made from whole foods, plant based and so delicious!
As I said, go to Mad Irie - and have a great time!

We have been there a couple of times. We had always great and fresh dishes and also nice drinks. Everything is fresh prepared. The Veggie-Burger was delicious. The owners are so kindly. We really enjoyed staying there.

If you want to experience something magical, visit Mad Irie! the best staff will make you the most delicious vegan burger you have ever had for a very reasonable price!!! it was the bomb, i came back like 5 times. That only proves how delicious it was. It was big enough for me and my mum and probably everyone at the beach!:D seriously though, i cannot express enough how tasty it was. If you ever find yourself in Matala, pay Mad Irie a visit!

On a little side road from the square, you will find Mad Irie. Friendly place with great veggie burger. From walking past you wouldn't know they served food really which we found a bit odd, but since we knew, we went in and asked for the burger. Very friendly owners.

Best vegan burger ever - Edit
This is the best — and biggest — vegan burger I’ve ever had. For real. It was clearly handmade with care and full of beans, veggies (beets, carrots, mushrooms, cucumbers, peppers, perfectly sliced and seasoned), a delicious sauce, all on a fluffy sesame bun. I had to stop myself from laughing out loud with joy and physical delight while I was eating it. The staff was very kind, and the watermelon juice was equally fantastic.

Small but nice place. Very relaxed and nice owners. We ordered the vegan burger which was very big and veerry delicious. They made everything fresh (even the pattie) and we still didn't wait long for the food. The fruit punch was freshly juiced from local fruit and tasted amazing and refreshing. We payed 25 € for 2 burgers, 2 juices, 4 × 0,25l beers (happy hour offer) with snack (watermelon). We were the only guests that ordered food that evening.

It's such a welcoming place. The people are so nice and the food is amazing. I had a vegan burger and it was simply brilliant. If you think you're not gonna be full after just one burger you're gonna change your mind after you saw the good thing. It's super big and has a lot of different vegetables and sauces on it. And of course the pattie. One word: delicious.
