Five Star Dining - Edit
I honestly thought I had already reviewed this place, which is criminal considering it's one of the best places I have ever dined in. Firstly, it is advisable to make sure you book well in advance and secondly expect expensive prices. Thirdly, it is value for money. When myself and my wife visited we ordered the 3 course menu (€35 pp) and were taken to our table and allocated our waiter for the duration of the meal, who was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive to our every need. The food served was simply outstanding both in presentation and flavour and began with a selection of appetizers and soup. For mains we were served quite possibly best tomato risotto I have ever eaten. The flavours and textures within the dish were simply stunning. To finish we had cake with a selection of coulis and rhubarb sorbet, which again had such depth in flavour with so many textures and was a perfect end to the evening.

Brilliant Easter Menu - Edit
We visited Lucky Leek over the Easter period so opted for the 6 course Easter Menu with wine pairings. The food was delicious and the service was one the whole pretty good. I wasn’t a huge fan of the main course as it was very meat-substitute based, but maybe that’s just my taste - every other course was brilliant!!

Fine dining - Edit
What can I say what hasn't been said in earlier reviews? Its expensive but well worth the money. If you want something special, go here! We went in summer, so we could sit outside, which was very nice. We had really nice staff as well. Would def return!

A league of its own! - Edit
Gourmet chef restaurant, and it's all vegan. Unbelievable, I know, but that's exactly what Lucky Leeks is.
Read moreThe food, which on weekend is confined to 3- or 5-course tasting menus only, was THE BEST VEGAN food I've ever tasted. Period, full stop.
The soup was creamy, a (complimentary) "cheese" ball was so delcious you could swear it was of cow-milk's cream, but, of course it isn't.
The main course, a "beef" serving with sauce... To die for.
And the deserts, assorted candies (including vegan vanillla ice-cream) and a platter of vegan-cheeses (*plural*, each with its own distinct flavor) on home-bakes bread... You can't get any better than that.
Pair it all with wines... Heaven!
And the staff, super professional, but *not* at the expanse of friendliness, they are both: friendly and prodessional.
The interior is modernly designed in good taste, nothing bothers you while you eat the best vegan food ever.
Being a gourmet restaurant means this is not a cheap place to eat out at, and couple it with a policy of "cash only for oeders undee 100 Euro" and you get a place to come celebrate a great life event.
But if you can affored the occasional "just shy of 100 Euro" couple's dine-out, Lucky Leeks IS the place to spens that money.
11-times-out-of-10.
Pros: No matter what you take, it's great, Friendly AND professional staff, Very good atmosphere
Cons: Expansive (par with chef restaurant)

Lovely, vegan fine dining, yay! - Edit
I went by myself and had the chef's menu. The staff was very attentive and it was a lovely meal. I had the best peppermint tea of my life. I liked the food a lot, but found it to be mushy with broad flavours when it came to the main dishes. it needed more crunch and flavour. But it was still quite good. I would love to return with a group of people.

Great food, not so good service - Edit
We had dinner here on wednesday. We have been to this restaurant two times before and we always had a wonderful time with great food. The prices became much higher since our last visit. This time the food again was great, but the service did not match the price. The waiter was hurrying, Murmured incomprehensible and uninterested the dishes and the wines we received, and refused to show us the wines we received as part of the wine arangement (I had to come to the bar if I wanted to see them).
Read moreThe dished followed eachother in enormous speed, it was absolutely not relaxed. Water should be free next to a wine arrangement of € 27,00 but it was not...
Such a pity, because the food was amazing.. But for a bill of EUR 75 per person I would expect a more relaxed service with more understanding what the customer wants.
Pros: Good and amazing food, Good accompanying wines
Cons: Service is to hasty and uninterested, Price has become way too high

Unexpected surprise in Berlin - Edit
Traveling to Berlin, it was easy to find good vegan restaurants, and this one was amazing! You can choose between a set 5-course or 3-course menu and our group tried both to try everything. The food was delicious and inventive and had unique flavor combinations. Everything from the wonton soup to the homemade "cheese" raviolini to the peach cheesecake and coffee ice cream was great! Even the non vegan in our group liked it.

All that glitters is not gold - Edit
Encouraged by the countless positive reviews for Lucky Leek, my partner and I booked a table for two to in the hope that we could enjoy a rare fine-dining vegan experience in Berlin. Unfortunately, fine-dining is what Lucky Leek would like to be, but falls short on a few critical points. We felt the following to be disappointing:
Read moreOdd ingredient combinations: some of the ingredients felt so mismatched that we couldn't really enjoy the dishes for what they were. I'm in no way opposed to fusion and though the ingredients alone are well cooked/prepared, they tended to clash in undesirable ways.
Table Water: everyone should have a basic right to free table water and in many countries consumers have a right to free water with a meal. The outright refusal of tap water is a deplorable practice that can only be described as racketeering. €5.20 just is not acceptable.
Food Intolerances: a restaurant at this level should either be able to cater to customers who have food intolerances or at least make provisions. This could include options to exclude certain ingredients or offering alternative dishes, or simply having an intolerance checkbox on the reservation page.
Pros: Food presentation and quality of ingredients, Desserts & cheeses (except the blue food dye used), Wine/beer selection
Cons: Refusal to serve tap water, Failure to be cater for intolerances, Overpriced for what it is
AMKNL
Tap water "like in many other countries"... Yepp, in countries, where customers order bottles of wine (especially Italy!) and not like in Germany just want to sip water because they can't actually afford to eat out.
Read moreThe drinks is actually where (in Germany) the money needs to be made to pay bills.

Delicious fine dining experience!!! - Edit
I loved it. Keep in mind that choices are a bit limited, but everything is made that day. You can assemble what you wish from the 3 course or 5 course menu, and there is not as much choice as some like, but go with the flow - it's worth it. I didn't have anything I didn't like (no point discussing dishes - they will be different when you go). Every course was delicious, and service was super. The draft beer was also yummy. It's pricey - but it's fine dining - no more so than any non-vegan restaurant. I highly recommend if you are in Berlin.

Make sure not to bring your dog! - Edit
I had not been to Lucky Leek for a couple of years, and I sadly cannot say anything about the food this time because we didn't get past the door. We had a dog with us and were told in a rude and condescending way that we could not come in with her. The last time we were there with 2 dogs so we didn't ask first when we reserved. Big mistake. It was my friend's 50th birthday so we were very disappointed, and it was too far to take the dog home and come back. The ban on dogs is only mentioned in the FAQs.

Delicious Fine Dining - Edit
Finding a place that has fine dining as a vegan can be quite difficult but not in Berlin. Lucky Leek is as upscale as you can get. We even dressed fancy to visit, which seemed a bit silly when we got there and everyone was dressed in jeans and t-shirts. Oh well.
Read moreThe food was scrumptious. There were so many unusual flavours on one plate and we all appreciated the effort. Unfortunately we went for the cheaper 3-course option but were pleased to be surprised by a shot glass of pea soup and a spoonful of grilled tofu as a pre-appetiser that wasn't listed on the menu. It was gorgeous and presented beautifully.
The only complaint is that I would have loved to have choose from the menu which starter I had, which dessert and which main. I understand that the five-course meal be more expensive, but why the difference? It should be either one set menu with extra dishes for the five-course or a menu you can pick and choose from. I liked the sound of the five-course menu starter more than the three-course one but upgrading wasn't in our price range. Other than that I felt like Lucky Leek was well worth the money if you like fine dining.
Pros: Fine dining, delicious food, complex flavours
Cons: set menu, you get what you're given, expensive

amazing! - Edit
Even with all the positive reviews I read before going here, I was truly amazed by the menu. We had the 5-course menu, which was quite a lot of food, bit I just wanted to try as much as possible! All courses were exciting, original and just very good. Loads of veggies, with some seitan/tofu/tempeh. Just perfect.

Fabulous Food! - Edit
I was really looking forward to Lucky Leek and wasn't disappointed. We had the 3 course menu which came with an amuse-bouche.
Read moreEverything was beautifully presented with lovely flavour combinations and texture contrasts. The portions sizes were just right so we felt full but not stuffed. Every course seemed to have lots of different parts to it so we felt we had eaten many more than just 3 courses.
We had a hot pea soup with cucumber salsa to start, followed by beetroot risotto, courgette parcels and vegan feta. The dessert was made up little tastes of ice cream, chocolate, fresh fruit and nut cake.
I went with an omnivore friend who kept saying how delicious everything was and what good value.
I would definitely go when I'm in Berlin again - I'll have the 5 course option next!
There is quite a peaceful atmosphere, we loved the vertical moss wallhangings.

Decent dining - Edit
We had high hopes coming here, having read other Happy Cow reviews recommending this restaurant highly, but ended up quite disappointed.
Read moreWe had the 5-course menu. Our over all impression was that this restaurant tried hard to be "fine dining" but didn't reach all the way. Putting a bunch of small courses together in a fancy way doesn't make it fine unless they're actually well cooked, and some of them just weren't. The main course was too messy, so many things we're going on there and they didn't really go all that well together. Flavours were nothing out of the ordinary, and some dishes were not cooked well, for example lentils and some vegetables were not cooked soft (note: not just "al dente" but actually not done). potato roullade was over-whipped and hence had a glue-like texture, the deep fried lentil ball was too "starchy".
All in all, the food was decent and would have been ok at a basic restaurant but since Lucky Leek has the ambition to be a fine dining place it was disappointing.
About the service, it was ok - one of the waiters was very nice and helpful but the other seemed bothered by our presence even though the restaurant was not very busy that night. He only barely presented the food and answered questions very briefly.
Pros: Bell pepper soup with pumpkin ball was delicious., Fully vegan!, The wine was tasty.
Cons: Flavours and cooking were basic and ordinary., Semi-poor service

Gourmet, but very unaccommodating - Edit
We reserved on the website, and only could get a table at 8:30 PM, but when we got there, the place was quite empty, so that was a bit strange. We would have liked an earlier hour. And, if we had an earlier hour, we would have left and found someplace else to eat, because the menu is very limited and I had very little to eat. There are two fixed menus. I told the waiter that due to health reasons I must restrict the carbohydrates that I eat and asked what he recommended. He was not at all nice. Rather than to suggest which courses might be the best, he just said "everything has carbohydrates - either potatoes or grain" etc., and if I wanted something special I would have had to let them know several days in advance. I asked if he could make a plate with some of the items from different dishes, and he said it is not possible. Though the food is quite gourmet and what I tasted was good, and it was served very nicely, and the ambiance very nice, the restaurant must learn to accommodate people who might have some eating restrictions. Due to the late hour (the service was not speedy, so after getting menus, which required asking for some explanations, it took a while before a waiter bothered to come back to us), we didn't leave and I ordered only a main dish because everything had either potatoes or grain or some other carbohydrates, and my main dish (there was only a choice of two) was risotto - also a grain, and white rice, at that, but I thought there would be grilled vegetables, as in the description . As it turns out, there were just a few slices of roasted vegetables. And who would guess that "radishes vinnaigrette" consists of about a spoonful of very finely shredded radishes?? At an accommodating restaurant (and I've been to many, though not in Germany) the wait staff would say "it might take a few more minutes, but we should be able to put together something for you". They could have made me a plate with more grilled vegetables - I suggested that - and some of the mushrooms from a different dish, and some of the "cheese balls" or whatever they were, without the risotto. They must make the roasted vegetables separately before they put them on top of the risotto so I can't see why they could not have done something like that. Do they count out exactly how many zucchini slices they need per main dish and not have any extra? They were most unaccommodating. Also, they have an 80 Euro minimum to use a credit card, and, since I did n

Amazing vegan fine dining - Edit
This restaurant visit was so cool for us not having had the ability to experience fine dining like this since we went vegan. We took a 3 course meal á 33€, this also included an extra small appetizer. Food was amazing, the staff was extremly nice and professional and it felt really luxorious. The selection of vegan cheeses for dessert was to die for!
