A Hidden Gem for Vegan Food Lovers – Flavour, Flair & Fantastic Service! - Edit
Easily the best vegan spot in Manchester! Lotus Plant Based Kitchen never disappoints — the menu is packed with variety, offering everything from comforting traditional dishes to creative, modern plates that make you do a double-take (in a good way).
Read moreEvery dish is a work of art — beautifully presented, thoughtfully balanced, and packed with flavour. You can tell the chef puts real care into every element. It’s the kind of food that makes you slow down and savour every bite.
The vibe is warm and inviting, with spotless surroundings that make you feel instantly at ease. The service? Absolutely stellar. Annie looked after us like a pro — her recommendation of the daily special was a total winner. She’s friendly, knows the menu inside out, and you can tell she genuinely loves the food she’s serving.
Whether you're plant-based or just love good food, Lotus is a must-visit. Can’t wait to go back!
Pros: Beautifully presented and flavourful vegan dishes, Warm, spotless, and welcoming dining environment, Attentive and knowledgeable service — especially A
Cons: (None) Everything was excellent during our visit

One of the best Chinese vegan restaurants in Manchester - Edit
Went to this Chinese vegan resto for dinner with my partner on Sunday night and had a good time and had a lovely meal! We ordered some off-menu dishes as recommended by the helpful waitress Annie, like Gluten Puffs Trio (三色齋), Deep Fried “Pork Intestines” (mock meat, 炸大腸), spicy & sour soup, fried dumpling spicy soup, a spicy fish-mock meat with green beans dish with a taste of Thai, a fried rice with ginger, a fried raspberry flavoured ice-cream, and got a yummy fried red-bean pancake! Highly recommend this resto to anyone who isn’t even a vegan, we were so full and satisfied, defo one of the best Chinese vegan restaurants in Manchester!

Delicious, authentic and a huge selection! - Edit
Lotus has a nice simple decor and plenty of seating across two levels. We were welcomed warmly and our server was very lovely throughout.
Read moreI was very impressed with the huge menu – I counted 84 different savoury dishes! It took us a while to decide because of this but in the end we settled on a very tasty selection.
For our appetisers we went for the Salt and Pepper Chilli Squid and Crispy Won Ton. The "squid" may have been my favourite dish of the whole meal! The texture was excellent, the batter was crispy and tasty and it all had a delicious and strong salt and pepper flavour, so good! The Won Tons were also delicious with a super crispy pastry shell, tasty filling and delicious dipping sauce.
Then for our mains we went for the Crispy Noodles With Duck, Sweet-And-Sour Chicken and Special Yang Zhou Fried Rice. Again it was all really tasty! The sweet and sour chicken was nice and saucy with big chunks of veg and "chicken" and was really delicious. The rice was also really tasty and packed with veggies. The Crispy Noodles With Duck was also tasty and a nice big portion. I preferred the sweet-and-sour chicken to the duck dish but I think that's just personal preference.
After all this food we were absolutely stuffed so had no room to try the desserts, but they did bring us a complimentary plate of watermelon anyway.
The prices were also extremely good value – Our bill came to just £57 between two of us (excluding service charge) and we were absolutely stuffed!
They also offer BYOB for £3 per wine bottle and £1 per beer can.
The only negative about this restaurant is that they have no air-conditioning and we visited on a very hot day, so I was sweating quite a bit as the fan didn't really offer much relief. Apart from that everything was amazing and I would highly recommend visiting!
Pros: Delicious food, Loads of choice!, Great value
Cons: No air-conditioning

Amazing to be able to have authentic Chinese food - Edit
Highly recommend, staff are super friendly and food is really good. Its so nice to be able to go as a Vegan and satisfy cravings for Chinese and get all the foods we used to have before we went vegan.
Read moreWe got 3 starters and one main to share between us both. Starters are large, so good sizes to share.
We were definitely very full when we left.
Only a few minutes walk from Ice Shack if you feel like a dessert place after (check times as Ice Shack closes pretty early like 6pm)
Been back since it changed owners and it is still banging !!!

Some of the non-vegans at the table commented it was one of the best Chinese meals they'd ever had.
As a vegan, it was definitely the best I've had. Will be visiting again.

Amazing food - Edit
It’s my first time coming since they have reopened. The menu is massive and has a range of dishes with mock meats, tofu, veggies, mushrooms so there’s something for everyone. The staff were friendly and it’s byob! We ordered the steamed dim sum, the caramel tofu, the salt and pepper chili squid and the hoisin pancakes with lam! It was all amazing and I’d definitely order the pancakes and chili squid again (and the caramel tofu but maybe more as a desert instead of appetiser). Service was great and we were very full and satisfied afterwards.

As Good As China - Edit
After living in Shanghai for over 5 years I have such a high expectation now. Finally this is the first place where the standard of food matches up to what I've had in China. I went with my friend on Thursday & then on Saturday with my girlfriend. I had the tempura veg curry, so good, not greasy the tempura was cooked perfectly & the curry was great. My friend had the XO fried rice which was tasty. We had desserts of fried chocolate ice cream & the red bean pancake, so good. On the Saturday we had a small wonton soup which was perfect. The radish cake was amazing, like none I've had before, in a crispy batter, definitely need to have this again. For mains we had the black pepper chikn which was good, I've had similar, but the Pi Pa tofu was so incredible, another must. We shared the deep fried chocolate ice cream. The staff are lovely & the food is sensational.

Withy is full of vegan gems and this one shouldn’t be missed !! Amazing food and a massive menu. A bit on the pricey side but worth it for a nice meal. We had the crispy combo starter, plum lamb, salt and pepper chicken, salt and pepper chips and fried rice !! It’s byob but there’s an offy right next door. Will 100% return.

Highly recommend lotus plant based, the dim sum and mock duck is just out of this world. Everyone should go! Eat in and takeaway too! Reasonably priced and so so good. They don’t use onion or garlic so the salt and pepper isn’t as flavoursome as it could be but this is for religious reasons I think. My boyfriend said the ‘beef’ is the best fake meat he’s ever eaten and he eats meat! ❤️❤️ #Veganuary

The best vegan Chinese! - Edit
10/10 vegan Chinese 🖤 Stopped by lotus prior to attending a gig in Manchester with my partner and we were so impressed by this wee place. We tried the sesame prawn toast, char siu bao buns, crispy Szechuan beef and the Cantonese style beef. Everything was so delicious and we were hard pressed to believe that we hadn’t been served non-vegan dishes with how authentic everything tasted! Service was incredible and we will have to come again as the menu was huge and there’s so much we wanted to try!
