Quite good, but used to be better - Edit
I've never been a regular at Lilla Kina, but it's an unassuming, charming (not to mention vegan-friendly) place, and so I decided to add it here four years ago. Since then it's declined a bit, for various reasons: first off, they'll no longer accept cash, unless you have the exact amount and are able to convey this to staff. Last time round, the fella on duty spoke pretty much zero Swedish or English, and so we needed to communicate by means of his phone. My suspicion that he was the sole employee that afternoon was confirmed when I requested a receipt and he actually needed to make a call in order to figure out how to produce one.
Read moreIt is also true that service is somewhat slow, which became apparent when I had to wait for a good 20 minutes for my food.. despite having a clientele of only two prior customers at that particular point. But hey, what do you expect from one single person?
I finally received my dish and, as always, was quite happy with it. I tried to get across that I wanted it to be spicy, just not unbearably spicy, but it seems like I failed: the chili was very sparingly used, if at all. It was also a surprise to find cucumber instead of zucchini. On other occasions I have gone for traditional potato-based dishes, but I think 168 or 178 sek is quite a bit for such a cheap ingredient.
On a more positive note, I'm glad Lilla Kina haven't fully succumbed to the take away mafia and will only offer a portion of their extensive menu to go :)

Slow and cold (in winter) but good - Edit
This is a place that is easy to just pass by, but entering there is very worth it.
Read moreThe menu is a bit of a challenge to understand but if you ask it can be figured out even if the personnel is not always the most social they are still nice.
The food is excellent, but it can takes time to get the food and as mentioned in the title, in winter the heating is not the best so it can be a bit cold.
Do not go here if in a hurry, because it takes time and on one occasion I ordered green tea with my food and never got it, I also was not charged for it so no worries but it was fully forgotten.

Good food and cozy place - Edit
I tried the marinated tofu and vegetable spring roll, both marked as vegetarian but are vegan. Both were really tasty.
Read moreOn the menu might have other vegan options but as they aren’t marked as vegan it’s a bit difficult to choose.
Pros: Tasty food, Cozy place, Good price
Cons: Menu could have vegan written

hidden gem - Edit
Most of the dishes marked as vegetarian are also vegan by default. I had dumplings with veggies, kimchi and the wok tofu in chilli sauce. The portions were huge and the prices are very good for the amount of food you get. Loved the atmosphere and the service. We had to wait a while for the food, but I honestly didn’t mind that, it gave us time to enjoy the experience even more. Truly a hidden gem!
