Returned the next day! - Edit
We got the dim sum and hot chick Bao , highly recommend. My partner that is a meat eater thought the hot chick tasted like chicken and even wanted to return the next day. If you're looking for something tasty and filling, you won't be disappointed here😄

One of my favourite restaurants ever - Edit
Everything is delicious here you have to try if you’re in Brussels. There is a rooftop to sit at which was nice.

Good food, good vibes - Edit
We started with some dim sum which were delicious. The bao with fried alternative to chickn was delicious and spicy at the right level. The burger bao was missing some flavor. Friendly staff, nice terrace to sit outside.

Great vegan food!
Read moreVery tasty home made lemonade, salad, dumplings and bao buns.
The noodles lacked some saltiness, but hey, what a great 100% vegan place!
Sturdy stable tables instead of shaky garden tables would make the place even better.
Pros: 100% vegan
Cons: Wobbly tables

I just love this place - Edit
This place is the best for bao. Connected to Liu Lin they share some amazing starters and have a changing menu of different Bao. Every single one I had were an absolute treat. They just never miss. The place itself is super cozy and during summer they open a terrace in the back.

The best restaurant I tried in Brussels - Edit
Some of the dishes I have tried were delicious, especially the loaded fries.
Read moreIn general, all dishes seem to be very good in concept and it seems like a good selection of quality ingredients were chosen. In other words just with slight improvement of the technique and flavoring (amount of salt, oil and acidic ingredients), all of the dishes I tried could have been excellent.
The atmosphere and design of the restaurant are good and the staff is kind.
Pros: Some of the dishes are delicious , Good choice of options, Convenient ordering system
Cons: Some dishes lack flavor, Balance of flavor/seasoning could be improved

Good but I had higher expectations - Edit
The concept is Taiwanese street food and entirely vegan which is highly appreciated. This was my third vegan restaurant in Brussels. Unfortunately it did not live up to my personal expectations taking into account the high ratings on Holy Cow and comparing with the other two vegan restaurants I had been to (Lucifer and Terter). Perhaps I didn't order the best dishes? In any case, the staff were really funny and attentive.

Pros: Really funny and helpful staff, Unique decoration

Hi Albert,
Read moreThank you for visiting us at Lil Bao.
We feel sorry that you didn’t enjoy your experience with us and we would have appreciated this feedback face to face. We love to listen and help our customers.
Our concept is a Taiwanese street food restaurant with the main focus on the gua bao. Our baos are handmade and our sauces and fillings are homemade.
We try to maintain a high quality of food by working with carefully selected products for our toppings such as the vegan feta and fried onions. Your accusation that our ingredients are from a jar sounds like going to an artisanal pizzeria and blaming that the cheese on top is not homemade or complaining to a sushi place that the nori around the sushi comes out of a package.
As vegans we always try to support the vegan community and as vegan entrepreneurs it is harsh to hear that in your opinion we offer low effort food. Every single day we put in hard work to freshly prepare vegan homemade food so even if our food didn’t meet your expectation, every effort of offering vegan food is better than a non-vegan option and shouldn’t deserve to be called low effort.
We once had a “ramen” in a Korean restaurant, what we got served was literally a vegan instant noodle out of a package that you can buy at any asian super market but still we didn’t leave a horrible review because at least they are trying to offer something vegan.
Hope you can understand our response. All the best :)

Hi there!
Read moreI apologize if my comment sounded too harsh, it was not my intention. My rating is based on my subjective experience and compared with other vegan restaurants that I've visited. In fact, I intend to rate this restaurant way better on Google Maps precisely because I appreciate the effort put into running a fully plant-based restaurant. It must be hard. I will check if I can modify my review to be fairer in view of your answer. In any case, I wish you good luck!

Very good - Edit
Definitely a great dining spot. Ordered online via QR-code while sat at the table which we loved, though staff would have been happy to take an order. We spent around 45 euro's for some dumplings, two bao's, loaded fries and two beers. Would definitely recommend more than one bao per person for dinner.

Wow! - Edit
There is a QR code on every table so that you can directly order and pay via your phone. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Read moreEverything we tried was extremely delicious. We shared the "Lil Dims" (5 steamed vegetable dim sums) as a starter and loved them. After that each of us had two Baos. I decided to eat the "Hercules" Bao (gyros, garlic yoghurt, feta, cucumber and onion) and the "Nice To Meat You" Bao (meaty patty, mustard, ketchup, cucumber, pickle & onion) and I was obsessed with both of them. 10/10, would highly recommend!
Definitely would come here again for my next Brussels trip.
Pros: Amazing food, Lovely staff, Great atmosphere

Very good for European Bao - Edit
This is the best European Bao I've had but I'm used to Bao where the Bao itself is a little sweet and the filling is actually spicy which this - even the spiciest labeled one - is not. It's definitely worth a stop though!
