French cuisine with a vegan twist - Edit
We went there for dinner after an extenuating day and it was well worth the extra walking!! I loved the fact that they served typical French food but "veganised", I guess there are not so many places that do that. I particularly enjoyed the onion soup and the crème brulée, but also the lupine roulade was excellent. We had some house wine and that was good, too. I would advise to book in advance, as the place is not very big but seems very popular, with locals and tourists alike.

Delicious! - Edit
We didn't have a reservation, but thought we would see if we could get a table if we arrived right at 7. The waiter said he could seat us but he needed the table by 9. He urged us to make a reservation next time, which clearly is the best idea. The restaurant is small, but the atmosphere is cozy. The food was outstanding. I had the rolled bean roast, which was not only great tasting, but it was a dish I had never had before. Unfortunately, I was just a visitor to Paris, but I would definitely try to go back if I'm ever in Paris again.

Traditional French Food Veganized! - Edit
Make a reservation or you may miss out! Seriously, don't chance it they book up quickly.
Read moreThe food was a nice treat, I've never tasted traditional French food since I've been vegan so long, I liked it. My partner kept asking me, "Are you sure this is vegan?" so that's always a good sign. ;)
We shared some of the dishes and a couple were 5 stars and a couple were more like 3 stars. My dining companion did tell me the Crème Brule was nothing like the non-vegan kind so just be ready for that.
Still, the helpings are large, the food tasted good, it was a special treat to eat real French food at what felt like a real French bistro restaurant after depending so heavily on Asian and cafe food during our trip. Gluten free things are clearly labelled and more than half of the menu was gluten free so that was nice, too.
Definitely worth checking out when you're in Paris!
Pros: Great vegan options , Authentic French restaurant atmosphere , Gluten free friendly
Cons: Crowded, Slow service

I'd like to see more vegan restaurants like this - Edit
What I mean is: when looking for veg* food, both at home and abroad, the easiest option is ethnic food. When abroad -and especially in such generally veg-unfriendly places as France and Italy - this means you will never get to have a taste of the national cuisine. And then you have Le Potager du Marais, a perfect combination of French cooking and cruelty-free philosophy. The concept alone would be enough to give it 5 stars. Moreover, the food was delicious: the Rolled lupine bean roast with spinach, mushrooms and green pepper sauce was simply the best. Plus, the owner and the waiters are nice and super-professional. Can't wait to see more vegan restaurants like this in those countries with a strong, peculiar national cuisine that could very well be "veganized".

I've been there several times, it's mostly veganized french traditionnal dishes, like galettes bretonnes, salade auvergnate, etc. They also have good wine and cider.

A beautiful restaurant with plants and a darker and good ambience - located centrally next to the Pompedieu Centre and with such friendly staff!

Food is delicious, the menu is great. Around €16 a dish, it's a little expensive, but for things like the vegan bourguignon it's worth it.
Creme brûlée delicious too, and the complimentary filtered water was surprisingly delicious
Pros: variety, Taste, service
Cons: price

Excellent Vegan Find in Paris - Edit
I took a non-vegan French friend here for lunch and we both loved it. The food was tasty and among the healthiest I've had at a restaurant since it didn't taste like it had a lot of added oil or salt. I had the cabbage roll which included all fresh seasonal food. And we split the chocolate cake which was divine. The waiter was friendly and spoke good English too. It's also located in a fun neighborhood.

First of all, BOOK you have to book in advance because this restaurant is very busy; when I got there they had all booked until midnight and I had to eat outside in the cold because I really wanted to eat there before leaving France. It's a really good restaurant that's why many people go there.

They lasagna is a must!! But the savory crepe I didn't like very much and the carrot cake was way too sweet. Anyways, everything else is really tasty I swear.

Overpriced not so special food - Edit
The food here was not very special. It was overpriced and they use the microwave to heat the food. You could say an advantage of microwaved food is the quick serving of the meal. Bread (as a side) was old and dry. Prices seem steep for this quality.

Deserves its popularity - Edit
A truly outstanding menu. I had onion soup, seitan stew and choc cake. All of them were tasty and generously portioned. I have never seen so many people turned away from a restaurant, vegan or otherwise, due to it being so busy / popular. Lovely staff, cosy feel, highly recommended - get there early or book though.

Amazing, just amazing - Edit
I absolutely loved the food there. It has a large variety and even includes gluten-free food. I had the onion soup and the lasagna, which was so delicious. It came along with salad, and the other main dishes come along with either quinoa, mashed potatoes, or rice. There wasn't much choice for wine, tho, but the staff was really friendly. Nice ambience, but a small place, too.

Delicious 100% VEGAN food in the centre of Paris - Edit
Lovely food, helpful staff which also speaks English. Everything is vegan and the extra seasoning you get on the table is not salt, pepper or parmesan but nutritional yeast, salt and crushed nuts mix and soy sauce, which I found wonderful!
Read moreThe selection on the menu is varied and everything we tried (altogether 6 dishes) is delicious. I thought I'd come for one dish, ended up having a dessert and starter apart from the main. Similarly my boyfriend. The bill came to 68 euros which is a good price for a specialist restaurant in the centre of Paris.
I'd advise booking. We visited in Sunday night with a booking and there were hardly any unbooked tables.
Pros: Gourmet food, English speaking staff, Vegan creme brulee!
Cons: Booking advised, Service MAY be slow at busy times due to few staff

Back again and still good! - Edit
We booked to eat here again and it was well worth the 6 hour drive from the Dordogne to eat here! Ok, so we were on our way home and made a point to stop off in Paris and whilst in Paris, the only place to eat all Vegan food in an August Evening is here. Most other Vegan/Veg places aren't open in the evenings [2016]
Read moreWe were remembered, which is nice, as it had been a year since we were last back. Loved the fact that we were able to glide past the queues of people waiting outside for a table.
The same staff were still there and still friendly. The food was delicious. I ordered a burger and when it arrived, I was disappointed for a millisecond as there was no bun. That feeling soon disappeared when I took in the overall presentation of the food. That was further confirmed when I tasted the burger, WOW! Honestly, the bun would have hidden the flavour and been a disservice.
The test of the dish was brilliant too, the joux, the mash, all good.
The place hadn't changed from the last time we were here and that is a good thing. To keep on putting out the same great tasting food is compliment enough.
Keep it up guys and we will be back again next year to check up on you!

Worth finding 4 good quality meal & great service - Edit
2016 Update:
Read moreWe revisited the cafe - much easier to find now Happycow has a mobile app. And it's fantastic to see that the cafe has moved next-door to have bigger premises AND gone Vegan! The food was as great as we remembered - especially the seitan bourguignon with mashed potato - and the business is clearly thriving in the larger premises, offering a wider menu (including VEGAN CHOCOLATE MOUSSE)!
2008 Review:
This is a lovely small restaurant. Having read other reviews we went looking for it armed with the address and a map and still nearly missed the narrow entrance. It is worth looking for, through, and a good stop-off if you're going to the Pompidou Centre.
The service was great, very friendly. They had English versions of the menu chalked onto their mini blackboards (there is a set menu and daily specials) and spoke good English too. They were happy to explain which dishes were vegan.
The food has a good range of French influenced and international with a fresh, good quality and home-made feel. There were loads of vegan options on the main menu and the specials board.
We tried a vegan "beef" in red wine stew, quinoa burger with a gorgeous creamy - yet vegan - mushroom sauce, and their vegan desserts were delicious, especially the chocolate tart. Freshly squeezed juices, vegan coffees are good. The Hot chocolate is excellent and everyone should try it!
It's not cheap - restaurant prices rather than cafe prices - we had a great meal for about £20-£25 each. But it is a relaxed good quality meal with good service.
Pros: Vegan , Range , Good quality

Poor service twice - Edit
I really hate to write a bad review, because the food is great. I was in Paris for four days recently. I went here for lunch my first day. There was a rubber band in my food. Waiter apologized, but didn't bring me a new meal or offer to comp the food. At the end he gave me a free tea (basically no cost for them).
Read moreI decided to try again, because France doesn't have the same standards of service as the U.S..
I showed up 5 minutes after they opened for lunch. Two people had already ordered their food at this point. I told the waitress I was in a hurry, because I had to catch a flight. I ordered soup and lasagna. Soup took 30 minutes to get. Soup just needs to be ladled into bowl. Not prepared. Lasagna still hadn't arrived at 45 minutes. I kept asking, especially because people who arrive 25 minutes after me already had their meals. No real concern and no apology. I had to leave with out eating a main course.
The restaurant is getting two stars, because I'm unable to rate as one star.
Pros: Food is unique, All vegan
Cons: Service, Rubber band in food
